I feel better about my recent purchase of a non running 2006 Chevy Express 2500 with the LLY for $6500. I’ve cleaned the tank out and installed a Fass lift pump but it’s still a crank with no start. It does fire with a shot of juice but doesn’t stay running. I’ll keep at it until it runs even if I have to pull the motor.
@ the van had the filter and pump down by the second battery inside the frame. I junked all of that and ran new fuel lines up to the motor. The story is there was a code for the FPR but no shop wanted to work on it so it sat for 15 years. I’ll keep working forward until I find the issue. It’s also possible the former owner f’d up the wiring. I’ve found some weird ‘repairs’.
As an experiment, you might try spraying on some degreaser and letting it soak for at least a day before pressure washing. This should reduce the gumming during rust removal. You could also brush it on to avoid softening of hoses etc. I also find running a cutting torch along open metal surfaces quickly burns the gummy stuff off. I often do this to prepare metal surfaces for painting, even new metal.
It looks great dude, especially for the cost good job. I want to see you tackle a straight Axel conversation imo as a construction guy and a guy that has plowed ALOT of snow , chevys weak point is the IFS and I think that is something alot of people would like to see myself included. Thank you good video
Man it's been a minute since I've seen your channel. I got lost for a bit; you as a Combat Veteran can relate. I still have my 2008 3500. Hope to be able to start working on it again. Great video.
My buddy and I painted a whole trailer with Rustoleum primer and that paint you are using, just the gallon versions. Honest to God it's been YEARS hauling his off road Jeep some of which is in salty, winter weather. The paint has held up way better than any factory trailer finish I've seen and as good as any truck frame. A splash of Krown undercoat goes a long way too.
@TruckMaster no problem. My only gripe with that paint is that it seems to take a week for it to really fully harden. It's not a big deal until you are trying to inevitably work on it too soon after painting and say, drop your transfer case. (Sorry I had to) 😂😂
great work andI know it is a lot of work .If you want the frame and under neath of truck to stay rust free for a long time use penatrol .Great for mixing rstolem paint
I like this new build! you've got this thing CLEANED UP now! I honestly want to see you buy a new body style 7.3 powerstroke and do the same thing. That's one of my favorites. I think it'd be a great future build for sure! I know it wont happen, but just thought id throw it out there 😂I also think the giveaway idea is great, but dont let your hard work just walk out the door like that. Keep it up Josh!
Man, I hope I can get a lbz Duramax so I can get that nine blade turbo and the cast-iron heads…heck ya.. love the content, beautiful trucks you have… trying to take care of my family first going through some rough time but as long as my kids get a roof over their head, that’s the main thing for now…. Then I can give me a truck. Awesome warp amazing I would love to do that.
Just me, but personally ive found yearly maintenance keeps a truck going. Salt and highway snow chemicals are hard on all coatings. I keep a can of oil based paint for chassis touchups and lithium spray grease for hardware. Fords aluminum bodies help alot.
Josh what do you think about using raptor liner on the frame instead of gloss black paint? I have a 2006 LBZ Dually that is 2wd and I am converting it to 4wd. I am purchasing a 2003 dually frame that is 4wd and building it up new from my 2006 LBZ. I also want to raptor liner the exterior of the truck body just like rust belt mechanic did. I’m a huge fan of the channel, been watching you for years. I need a Duramax life decal for my truck brother!!!
Thanks for the comment! I’d stay away from bed lining the frame it traps moisture but the epoxy primer from raptor is a perfect base to spray on a stripped down frame 👍
@@TruckMasteri’d appreciate if can Personally DM You. Just turned 19, bought my dream truck in the summer before my birthday. Just want advice & Tips On building my truck.
Its lookin great man! If you dont think the return on investment would be worth it on a giveaway do a waffle where you have so many spots for sale for 150 200 bucks and once all spots are filled each spot buyer has to submit there payment and once you have all payments collected use a random selector to draw a number and that number wins the truck guys do it every day in like the drag racing world. Id buy a couple spots for the chance to have a reliable truck and the chance to meet you. Iv been trying to find a decent truck to buy for over a month and everything is either rotted out worse than what i got or ppl think they are selling gold bars lol. Either way man good luck to you and great work! Thank you for all you do and have done not just for the truck community but the country as well!
@@TruckMaster Yeah, I know they are supposed to generate income for your web page, and they are very cool. But you just did a giveaway. I'd hate to see you hurt yourself from trying to do too many.

Frame looks great! Should last a long time.
That's the cleanest frame I've seen on your channel. You made it better than factory!!

My 2002 LB7 crew cab service bed truck needs a Southern roller donor. So reliable with 234,000 miles
I used a hotsy steam pressure washer to get the wax off of my frame. Worked like a charm.
awesome great job/video cant wait to see it running!!! cheers from Ontario Canada

I don’t miss living on post for that reason
@TruckMaster Yeah, it's not my first choice. Just didn't see the sense in buying a house with this new assignment and only 2 years till retirement.
Great job on the frame 👍
Thanks 🙏
Dang that frame is a score ngl
It definitely is ✅

I probably wouldn’t have the time unfortunately
You are literally building my dream truck!!! If you do give it away, whoever wins it is getting an absolute GEM!!!! 💎💯
I totally agree
I would have Woolwaxed that frame instead of painting it, especially in the midwest.
need more lml parts i am looking to buy..

Thanks for the advice I never heard about that
What about the inside of the frame and all of the inside corners? This is a half-assed job in my opinion
😂
Why "filler primer" ( made to be sanded) vs 2 part epoxy ??
Give away truck for sure.
I think I know why there holes in your cab. I’m assuming the previous owner had subs and it’s from mounting the amp.
That makes sense
OG truck ss s giveaway.
How much for the job
Awesome job man! Do you have a video showing step by step on what you need to do to lift the cab?
I don’t but I can highlight that on the next video
Nah, get the money back out of it. Don't do a giveaway.
I’m pretty confident anyone that does give aways almost doubles there money that’s why you see all these people doing giveaways every 3 months
I took a loss on my last giveaway I might mention that in a upcoming video
