That drummer.....he knew exactly what he was doing! Awesome!!! Jeff Beck - no doubt he is an international treasure but he also knows how to put together a killer band! Sax man killed it also!
Absolutely first class kick ass! What a a band! what a groove. That drummer was definitely doing the driving. You can't find that kind of performance in too many places anymore.
I used to come here a lot. Haven't visited in a while. Ya gotta love that drummer: his facial expressions and the drums like exploding gunshots. Those boys didn't leave anything on the table. Great performance and performances.
Even Jimi Hendrix and ELP covered this magnificent Henry Mancini tune (talk about a guy who should be in the R&R Hall of Fame as an influence) -- but on this night, Jeff Beck and his band owned it. A superb ensemble piece, the way it was meant to be played. Sax player just kills it and then not stopping there the marvelous trombone player sends it into the stratosphere. The Big Band/Swing musicians in Heaven are giving you a standing ovation guys.
@@suzannepope9891 - Check out his "Experiment In Terror" theme from the great Glenn Ford-Lee Remick & Ross Martin thriller of a motion picture. That's been covered by some jazz artists and it's creepy sounding.
I usually don't like the way most groups do Peter Gunn. They never seem to hold up to Mancini's original, but this rocked !!! The brass and saxes were great. The drummer really put energy into it, and i commend Beck for letting the band take it without a lead guitar solo. Real musicianship !!!
JB is always great, check out ELPs version! wow JB was more jazzy, which is pure Mancini and very fine. Much agreement with comments re letting the horn section blast off... super cool all the way around.
Whenever I hear this, I want to put on a pair of dark glasses, jump into a ‘58 Corvette convertible, solve a case, then drive off with a beautiful dame by my side. Along with the Pink Panther theme, one of the coolest pieces of music ever written.
@@rkr7372 So true and he is a pioneer...and a hell of a auto mechanic!. His Blue Wind album with Jan Hammer was amazing. All that zingy high energy other worldly music from another sphere...but what KILLS on that album is his soulful, mournful, raging version of Mingus's "Goodbye Porkpie Hat". I can't think of another piece of music that moves me like that one does. It's rock it's jazz it's soul and something completely new and different all at once.
Peter Jeffery No doubt, if anyone has a doubt about how great he is, just listen to what the other greats of that era have to say about Beck. Clapton, Page, Richards don’t have a negative word to say about him or his playing. When Richie Blackmore says he never gets more frustrated than trying to play the way Jeff does should tell anyone all you need to know.
@@rkr7372 What gets me about Beck is his absolute virtuosity. He can switch from speed of light frenetic picking (weep Richie weep) to soft and spare with long nuanced single string tones that don't need any embellishment. Matchless technique aside, Beck knows when to let the guitar whisper and the song play through. I've never heard better.
This is the best version I'd heard of *"Peter Gunn".* Generally when one thinks of Henry Mancini, one thinks of jazz standards, but with the right musicians, Mancini's music can be whatever genre one wants to play.
Alright😱😳🤔This is my favorite version ever!!!😆🤣😘😍😃🤗💙😊Complex sound...so much to see & hear😘😘😘😘❤️❤️That sax is wicked!😁😁The trumpet is killer😆😆😆😘😘😘😘😘But the group makes this song the best!🤗🤗
How effing good was that? Dude with the sax rocked that house but good, and no worries. Then Mr. TromboneBazooka kills it. The whole band beat, bitch-slapped, and flat out throttled that sucker for all it was worth, and then some, and proceeded to burn the whole house to to the ground, just because they could. Amazing performance. Sometimes it's so good you never want it to end, and for me that was one of those times. I know it was 2011, but you just know Beck is still full of surprises. Too good!
Blue Lou Marini OMG the best SAX player ever , the last time I seen him was in the Blues Brothers don't know why he didn't play the lead but this is a fantastic tribute to Henry Mancini and will never age this is real dancing round the kitchen stuff

what force and vivacity gave all those horns to that piece ! ,one of the best versions
Great musicians feeling the groove , fun to watch . That drummers a wild man!
Stephen Rushton (drummer) looks sometimes angry but he is behind the toms with Leo Green on Sax on fire....
Trombone Shorty, OH MY!! This is clearly the best version of this song I've ever heard!!!!
Titanesque
..une montagne de puissante musique
Avec MONSIEUR Jeff Beck il ne pouvait pas en être autrement
Cette vidéo est un chef d'oeuvre
Ripped, shredded and absolutely owned. That song was properly given a 1st class smack down.
Testosterone spilling all over the floor....
Couldn't have said it better. And the volume was uploaded loud, as it should be.
WOAH...!!!!!!! Jeff Becks whole band Rocks!! - BUT THAT sax n trombone ...FREAKIN WICKED 💯💯💯❤⚘
The heart of the band is Imelda May's backing band.
These guys can play this everyday for the rest of their lives and NEVER get tired of playing it. You can tell they absolutely LOVE playing this

The way Duane Eddy turned the jazz theme into a screaming rock classic was inspirational!
PS The Mancini 2 CD is classic moody jazz!

What a great song ! never get tired of the Horns, they make the song !

Mark Womack he would make a great muppet 😎 Fabulous player 👍

He just about split the reed playing that. Poor Trombone player had to get some blisters after that. Loved it! Gotta play that bass line.

Saw Mancini do this live when I was a kid. One of the best songs ever. I'm even typing in time to the music...
That sounded so good! The horn section was great and Jeff Beck is one of my favorites.
Jeff Beck was and still is one of the greatest guitar players of all time effort less style and absolute class 🎸

EXCELLENCE ! I've always loved JB since the 70's. GOOD FREAKING JOB !
