      That's awesome! Thank you for the support!
      I do have a lot of routes that I love, so that's a tough one! I think it kind of depends on my mood that day. 😆
      I will say that Valencia to Cox Rd. to Day Valley Rd. is on of my favorites because they're not too busy and they pass through the peaceful valley and all the apple orchards.
      Swanton Loop is also a favorite, but I haven't done that on the ebike yet (only a hundred times on my road bike 🙂) and it requires riding the ever-crazy Highway 1.
      I appreciate the suggestion and will definitely consider a montage video of maybe my top 5 routes with kind of a "safety rating." That's a great idea! 👍🏻

    I have the Ultra 1000 and did a throttle only test the other day. I pedal to shift gears then used throttle to cruise around 25mph. With the 21ah battery I got about 12 miles before I switched to my spare battery I carry. Wasnt all the way thru battery so probably could go 15 miles with slower speeds. With me, gear, spare battery im about 240 pounds. Ive gone 54 miles using pedal assist on 21ah battery for reference.

    • @twowheeltim
      @twowheeltim  2 года назад +4

      Nice! I think on flats I could have gone about 40 miles on throttle only. I didn't find shifting using throttle only a problem, since the M620 has a power cutoff.
      I did a battery longevity test using PAS and did just under 50 with about 35% left. I was carrying 2 panniers and pulling our 30 lb dog in a trailer, so I was lugging probably 320 lbs including myself. 😆 I appreciate the subscribing and binge watching. As far as bike size, here's my thought. I'm just over 6' tall and I have a little trouble getting the seat high enough to give me the leg extension I prefer (I'm a pretty experienced cyclist of all kinds of bikes). You likely will have very little standover, but you should be able to adjust the seat high enough for your inseam. The bigger concern here is your torso length. If your height is more inseam than reach, you might find it a little uncomfortable. Have you looked at the specs on the Biktrix site yet? It shows all the geometry measurements, so you can take your body measurements and compare. That's what we did before I bought Elaine the Hud Duo. I bought her the 18.5" step-over and it's a good fit. It's a little big for her, but the step-throughs were just not a good measurement for her. The Ultra Duo step-thru should be perfect for your wife. Maybe a little long, but you can adjust the stem. Hope this helps. All the best! 👍🏻

    • @twowheeltim
      @twowheeltim  2 года назад +1

      That's a tough one because there are so many variables the impact battery usage. If you mostly use PAS 1 and 2, you could get 60-70 miles. If you use PAS 3-5 it will definitely drain faster; especially if you use the throttle.
      I feel like 60-65% is a good turnaround point until you get a better understanding for how your size, riding style/preferences, and terrain impact your battery usage.
      And I still don't have a great understanding for how voltage equates to battery percentage...🤷🏼‍♂️ 🤣

    • @prophetzarquon
      @prophetzarquon 9 месяцев назад

      I'll second that estimate!
      In practice, I notice that _higher_ assist levels get more miles per Wh expended, once the Voltage drops below 48V. The m620 _really_ performs better (& runs cooler!) at higher Voltages.

    • @twowheeltim
      @twowheeltim  2 года назад +2

      Hi Lou! Thanks so much for your positive support. For the throttle only video, I'm not using PAS until the very end when I started running out of battery and torque. At that point, I was using PAS 3. It's important to note that the PAS level has no impact on the throttle of the mid-drive motor (at least this one). The significance of shifting your gears while using throttle only is huge, and I was using the mid-range gears on the flats (6-9). Also, the motor has a cutoff switch, similar to a clutch, when you shift gears, so this minimizes stress on the chain and you need not release the throttle under most conditions while shifting. I would, however, think twice about this if I were climbing an extreme hill using only throttle.
      Regarding my weight, I actually mention this is several of my previous videos because it's extremely important. In fact, the whole reason I started making videos about my e-bike is because when I was trying to decide on an e-bike, most people doing e-bike reviews are probably half my size and no one ever addresses height, weight, etc.
      So, long story long, I'm 6'-1" and I started out around 322 lbs. I've since dropped 25 lbs and counting, so I'm really anticipating getting even more longevity! In fact, you'll probably notice I looked a bit heavier in my first couple videos. 😆
      Stay tuned because I'm continuing to plan for more engaging videos very soon! Thank you! 👍🏻

    If u have a programming cable. Its a easy setup to make the throttle follow pas levels. This again increases range by alot as the standard setup for throttle is really bad. Doing some small fixes increases range and give more options of acceleration. Especially if u limit the max throttle to around 1000-1200 W!
    Im testing a programming\setup build called Frey "smooth" programming.( for now this seems to make the bike pedal even better more akin to a bosch drive. More responsive and less overtorque\continues speed after pedalling. Again decreasing watt usage.
    And i am also experimenting runnig a 21 (1000w) maks draw instead of 30 a max draw and noticing increased range. And less voltage drop\sage.

      If u do like pedalling i still recommend to get a programming cable and check it out.
      Fex one can enable a second magnet and get more presice readings.
      And the frey smooth i mentioned really makes pedalling much more better like the bosch engines handle:)
      Offcourse everyone has their preffered preferences. But the standard programming is pretty basic and normally the throttle isnt even configured- just changing from speed to current make it handle much more like a gas pedal and not like a on off switch.!

Before I bought my Ultra Beast 2, I borrowed a friend's Sondors 750w hub-drive and was very impressed with how PAS worked; being able to pedal as much or as little as I wanted. The Sondors felt way too small for me, however, and after doing a lot of research I knew I'd prefer a mid-drive over a hub-drive.
      I also needed a beefy enough bike to handle my size as I was well over 300 lbs at the time, but I've since dropped about 45 lbs. THAT will definitely help with battery range! 😆

    Great Video! Your other videos are the reason I bought the beast 2 and just got it last week! Love it and thank you!
    Did you use eco 1 to get the most distance out of the battery? Does Pass only effect when you pedal or does it effect throttle only too? Haven’t had enough time on the bike to figure it out yet.
    Im about 285 and only have gotten a top speed of around 31 mph. I see you averaged close to that with a top speed of 34 at one point. I wonder if you would have gotten a higher top speed in sport 5.
    Again, great videos!!!
    Also, when you are using the throttle and shifting, do you let up on the throttle or keep it at full throttle?
    Thanks!

      Hi Bob. Congrats on getting the Beast! All great questions. PAS level has no impact when using the throttle. When you shift the gears while using the throttle, the motor has a cutoff switch the does a brief pause on the torque to allow the derailleur to shift, and then it picks up again once the shift occurs. It's like an internal clutch, and you don't need to let off the throttle.
      I find that the eco setting is plenty powerful enough for me. I live in a fairly mountainous area where you can't ride 20 miles without climbing at least 1,500 feet total. I do try to focus more on distance over speed because I want to ride farther rather than faster. Plus, I can usually get that adrenaline fix on a good descent at least once per ride. 😆

      True, but it's worth every dime in my opinion.
