For as much as I love Metallica, after all it was The Warnings cover of this song back in 2014 that got me interested in them to begin with, I still definitely like this rendition far more than the original. They took James Hetfields original idea of this song as being a “lullaby” for his son and created a far more Surreal….. Darker….. Creepier….. Haunting, almost horror movie feel of a song with a powerful ending that gives homage to the original, what a touch of class. And Dany’s high note leading into the ending is EPIC! They absolutely killed it! The more we hear from The Warning, the more I come to believe it is literally impossible for the sisters to put out anything subpar! And, this collaboration with Alissa Cara, who by the way is a Grammy award winning Canadian pop star with millions of followers was a perfect melding of pop and rock. Yet In my opinion, it is absolutely The Warning who bring the “hit factor” to this recreation of an iconic song. What a Bold Statement! But, I honestly did not expect anything less. Well done! Metallica did a charity album called "The Black List", comprised of other "teams" of artists all doing newly arranged covers of songs from Metallica's Black Album (the cover of which was in turn originally inspired by the cover of Black Sabbath's Master of Reality album). The idea was partially to mix artists from different genres. For example, Mylie Cyrus was paired with cellist YoYo Ma on "Nothing Else Matters", which was very well done with a good video, but which was a straight cover. The The Warning ws paired with Canadian pop singer Alessia Cara. This masterpiece of an arrangement was done entirely by The Warning. They only ha da week to write it and record it, and Alessia (ah-LESS-ee-ah) Cara's part was recorded and filmed in Canada and spliced in perfectly. This video was shot in an abandoned factory in Monterrey, Mexico. The song very cleverly starts our as pop with Alessia Cara doing most of the singing, but then the song subtly transitions into rock as Daniela's singing takes over, and finally finishes as metal with the original riff. Dany's singing continues to get stronger and stronger, which unfortunately I think often goes unnoticed and underappreciated by most people. When you listen to Martirio (Martyrdom) by The Warning, you will get a great example of it, especially at the very end of the song where Daniela hits a fantastic strong very difficult high note. It deserves mentioning. The lyrics to Martirio are available in English online separately, if you want to go that way and not wait. It essentially is about not being a martyr and to stop living that kind of existence. It was shot in the Mexican desert starting at 4 am and went all day until 11 pm. I think this Enter Sandman cover is one of their best efforts yet, and is brilliant. Even the creepy "possessed" beginning of Paulina's prayer section starts with a sped up shot of her whipping her head around; and the Alessian video sections are all dreamlike nightmare effect. Even the sound mixing was outstanding. A masterpiece!

Yes these young ladies have really matured leaps and bounds in the last 2 years but it really helps to have the backing of Lava and the fact that they have creative freedom with their music and with the videos, along with the $ to do what they envision. I love this remake. This is what Metallica COULD have done if they weren't a heavy metal band. I appreciate that AC brought the girls in to colab on this because if it wasnt for her they may not have got to. BUT I feel they could have done this without her, but she cant do it with out them. Alessia's international manager is also The Warning's international manager, and he made the suggestion that she invite The Warning to collaborate in her participation on the Blacklist Album. "Enter Sandman" was the natural choice!

Yes this was a collab with Pop star Alessia Cara,saw a couple different interviews with Alessia,including the one with our great PAU,DANY,ALE..Alessia fits invery well and hopefully she will be doing another rock song,this was her first experience and loved doing it with DPA,Loved "getting her feet wet"as she out it and would love more ..anyway this cover for METALLICA's Blacklist album,i was really excited to see since the first Entersandman from 7 plus years ago was my first discovery of THEWARNING!This video was just great,everything about it!!PAU doing the prayer part..(My favorite part of this great project)very mysterious,some say freaky, and yet still Beautiful PAU!!Same here, love them all ..all of them amazing...BUT Something about PAU that extra something!!

Great reaction Jennifer! I love everything about this. The Villarreal sisters' voices blend really well with Alessia's. Their harmonies are spectacular. Their arrangement of this timeless classic is off the charts. Their video is amazing. Legendary work here. I appreciate all of their HARD WORK! Grammy Award winning artist Alessia Cara is more of a sultry soulful Pop singer/songwriter. She and The Warning share the same international agent who suggested that she collaborate with TW. So with very little time, TW jumped at the opportunity and rearranged and recorded the music and vocals in less than a week! Yes these young ladies have really matured leaps and bounds in the last 2 years but it really helps to have the backing of Lava and the fact that they have creative freedom with their music and with the videos, along with the $ to do what they envision. I love this remake. This is what Metallica COULD have done if they weren't a heavy metal band. I appreciate that AC brought the girls in to colab on this because if it wasnt for her they may not have got to. BUT I feel they could have done this without her, but she cant do it with out them. A year later, but I thought you might still be interested. I've not seen an official English translation on Martirio (Martyrdom), but I'm bilingual. My wife speaks Spanish and is learning English, so I did a translation for her a while back that I hope is true to The Warning's original intent...
