thank you for the reaction. The whole song rotates around a 16 beats cycle (Tintal) at different speed. the split is 4 sections of 4 parts (1-4,5-8,9-12,13-16) . beat 1 is where all the variations finish. Beat 9 is known as khali where the second half of the cycle starts. Beat 9 you would see the back ground singers do not clap they put they show their palms even the back up vocalists that are sitting on stool follow exact pattern. the skill is fully appreciated with this knowledge. Please listen back counting 1 to 16 and find beat number 1. You would love it even more. Thanks
Hey Cameron! This is the only time in CS where 432 Hz has been used instead of the normally used frequency 440 Hz, that was definitely a bold step by Rohail Hyatt. Also remember it's Rohail Hyatt, the man behind this great fusion stuff, nobody has ever done fusion work these deep classical performers. Kanga, Adam, Mori Bagri, Khabram Raseedah, Rung all are his production.
The guitar player is one of the string playing legends of Pakistan, His name is Tanveer Taafu, and yes you're rights he is a sitar genius. He played a lot for Coke Studio from Season 7 to 12!
Since we are doing an Ustad Fareed and Abu Muhammad run, please do watch "Rang" performed by them. You have done the version of rang by RFAK and Late Amjad Sabri saab.
I am here to thank you brother. Jab maine pahli baar 'Rang' by RFAK and Late Amjad Sabri saab suna tha to laga jaise ye best hai ...this is it. Maine 2-3 aur alag alag versions sunne ki koshish ki, jisme Abida Parveen ji ki bhi thi... But kabhi ye nahi suna tha (Rang by Ustad Fareed and Abu Muhammad)....How is this so underrated. Thanks to this channel and thanks to you brother.. This took me to another world. Thanks again. Chaand Mubarak 💖 Love from India❤️
Thanks. Peace and blessings brother from another indian. On another note, if you are catching the groove of these two legends, do check out their performances on the channel "The dream journey". I usually recommend the channel because 1 They are live and raw performances with some very rare ghazals, kalaams. 2. The host audience knows their stuff and interact with the performers. 3. Good quality sound and recordings 4. Subtitles And to start do check out "Bajuband khul khul jaaye' with an ending of bandish on the recital of "barjori nahi re kanahi paniyaan bharan gagri mori giraye kareke ladayi" . May the Almighty grace us his blessings to get through these tough times of pandemic.
Fun fact is almost all of their Qawaalis/Kalaam are in Persian/Arabic, which is not a widely understood language here in Pakistan, so we also turn on the captions to understand the message.
Singing with animated hands is a very prominent way of singing in the Indian subcontinent. Even people like me who have never been trained, raise our hand when singing 🤣
This was amazing. I hadn't had a chance to listen to it yet and I watched it with your reaction for the first time. Classical 🏛️ legends in action for sure .
John u have the quality in ur channel. I have never enjoyed a reaction channel more than ur channel. Ur way of interpreting music is simply awesome! Thanks for ur channel. Love and respect from Pakistan.
Wooowww! After watching you reaction to Kangna, I was just thinking about this masterpiece and Voilaa!! Here it is. ❤️ P.S. Love what they did with the guitar in I need never get old.
Hence proved. Music doesn’t require any language... you might have no clue what they are saying but you’re enjoying it just like I can . ☑️☑️☑️☑️☑️ welcome to Classical music of Pakistan.
I have seen many reaction channel..but 90% channel are fake reaction channel. They reacted for only views. But Your reaction is real and pure with heart. Can you react to Indian artist also ( By the way, I also love coke studio Pakistan so much). Love from India.
i was waiting for this reaction...i requested so many times...finaly u did it thx...now watch laili jaan coke studio...turkish and pakistani take on jazz....must watch....and i really enjoyed link u shared
Man you have that immune system to digest this kind of music This pure comfort to ears Love from Lahore Pakistan So react NUSRAT FETEH ALI KHAN Music as well
the taste of your subscribers is truly amazing otherwise the noob CS fans always go for "Tera who pyaar" and all which already has so many views not saying their composition is bad but CS songs with fewer views are some of the beautiful songs I've ever heard in my life. "Jal Pari " "Rung from Fareed Ayaz" "Garaj baras" & "Rabba ho" are songs that literally take you into some other world.
Rang from the qawal Bachchay gharana is such un underrated piece. Although the RFAK and Amjad Sabri's version is more famous and special in it's own way but the Fareed Saab and Abu Saab's version has that groove that makes my heart do Sema like Darvesh. ❤️
You should also watch the BTS of these performances because they do explain the background and history of these writings and arrangements. Recent one's do have cc so u can understand them easily. My suggestion would be Shikwa by these two gentlemen and Mundri by Ustad Naseer ud din Sami. Cheers from Chicago by a Pakistani.
It's alright! Not sure if it's been mentioned or you knew but Nescafé and Coke Studio are both from Pakistan itself. India have their own "Coke Studio India"/"Coke Studio at MTV"). So, all artists featured on Coke and Nescafe are indeed Pakistani. One CS episode featured an Indian artist, not sure if this occured anywhere else on these Pakistani music platforms, otherwise these are all Pakistani and so are the artists 🤝 (the world should know since Pakistan is seen in mostly a negative light in the west, these platforms showcase raw talent from Pakistan).
I am immigrant from Pakistan living in the US for the past 25 years. Just found your channel and loving how a knowledgeable person appreciates music that is not of their own tradition. Coincidentally I am watching this reaction in Texas and sipping coffee :) I agree Kangna is much better. As someone else mentioned you have to watch all of their earlier coke studio performances, especially, “Rang”. The background base and percussion will put you in a trance.
May be someone else mentioned. They were singing in Persian mostly. Most of Pakistani or Muslim poets of India and Pakistan always had a compilation in Persian. Or was almost expected.
John I am you new subscriber and watching all your reactions to the different Coke Studio and Nescafe Basement songs. I really enjoy your comments which are very good in terms of technical aspects of music. However, this song--a genre called Qwwali was what I somehow missed watching. Through your reaction I got to know about this gem. Thanks for such a wonderful analysis. Also, please give your reaction to Na Kaho from Nescafe Basement, and Mori Araj Suno from Coke Studio.
It is really a masterpiece. I recommend you to listen new singer who is really great in traditional folk songs. You might react to ANBHOL by sanam marvi or HAIRAN HUA by Sanam marvi. I can assure you she is going to be a legend
Thank you for reacting in this. Please add mori bangri from the same duo to your list. Also, please react to 'In your eyes' and 'signal to noise live' by Peter gabriel featuring nusrat fateh ali khan
Recommendation Please do listen to these 2 songs aswell Hope you like them Mundari by ustaad-naseer-Ud-deen. Coke studio Season 4. Lagi Bina by Sanam Marvi and saieen zahoor Coke studio Season 9 Thanks.
Kindly react to Naina Moray by Akbar Ali and Jawad bashir Cokestudio you would absolutely love it its a masterpiece. Appreciate your reaction and musical insight.
I misspoke a little bit. This song is more in the r&b, or soul tradition (like the band Sam & Dave) than country. Perhaps I was distracted by all the beards and hats.
At last, your JUICE is safe till the end. I was very worried every second from 14:24 that you are gonna hit Juice Glass anytime while moving arms like Fareed Ayaz.
John please react to Krewella song Runaway, they are Pakistani-American EDM band consist of two sisters who are one of the best if not the best all female EDM duo (extremely underrated unfortunately for some reason), they are basically from Chicago i think and proud of their Pakistani heritage. They have produced alot of hits in US and around the world including hit song "Alive" and collaborated with many famous EDM DJs Nicky Romero, Headhunterz etc and performed n Tomorrowland as well. You should check out more of there songs it haven't already (my favs are Live for the Night, Somewhere to Run, Team and Alive). They came to Pakistan to record this song Runaway for Coke Studio with Pakistani artists (their original version of this dong is bit diff. and more western EDM).
I really think we have to accept ourselves as a single people and a single race, especially considering the whole south asian geographical area. Also, this song is a fantastic example of how music connects people at a deeper, more divine level, regardless of religion. Tasawwuf, the tradition of this song, actually means philosophy.
To feel the original and full energy i will recommend you to watch the live version of this Aadam from the Dream Journey youtube channel Just watch it for once and you will be blown Its only 5 min and you wont be able to digest it first time You wont know what they just did
Please react to the "Shikwa Jawab-E-Shikwa" the sufi song based upon the questioning the god (part sung by the natasha baig) and getting the answer in return by the god (part sung by this legendary duo)
You seem to be musically literate and know whats being played. I'll recommend to a song which is not a well-known but will surely blow you away. Khayaal - Umair Jaswal Coke Studio. Please do check it out!!
🙏 Please watch another video called , “ Tabla lessons with Gijs kremars and Sanju Sahai “ .. you will like it for sure . It’s amazing how nicely he explains the basics of Tabla . Video is on RUclips

Khabaram Raseeda is an absolute gem. Mesmerizing is the word that comes to mind whenever I experience that rendition
When I saw "Kangna" reaction, I knew you'll get to Aadam in no time.
Coke studio is a treasure and you are holding the key to explore it.. Go for it.. we would love to see more and more of it..
Since we are doing an Ustad Fareed and Abu Muhammad run, please do watch "Rang" performed by them. You have done the version of rang by RFAK and Late Amjad Sabri saab.

to be honest i loved that version the most among all renditions

Its true, ur reactions are real
Hi John , Big respect from Central Asia , from your reaction and you are really feeling person , Thank you !
That "a.aaa.aa.aaaaaa.a-a-...aaaa" and doing the "no no no" hand gestures by Abu was probably impersonating ADAM's soul refusing to enter the body! 🤯
oh!
i was waiting for this reaction...i requested so many times...finaly u did it thx...now watch laili jaan coke studio...turkish and pakistani take on jazz....must watch....and i really enjoyed link u shared

Shreya Goshal, an Indian singer, did feature on Coke Studio Pakistan's Paar Channa De
she was indeed an Indian but "shilpa rao" not "shreya goshal" in paar chana de!

The guitar player in the beginning is same person who performed on an electronic guitar alongside Rahat Fateh Ali in nobel peace prize performance.
Great work @John Cameron! Love it!
