i love listening to audiobooks when i do art or cleaning the house. when there are stories i love ill listen to them over and over. i have 5 or 6 different series Ive listened to 3 or 4 times. its funny bexause once you start to know the whole stories you start to find new details that connect the whole story together. it keeps it new every time i listen to them :)
Gosh, there's always a point in your videos where it goes from "Look at the pretty colors" to "THIS WOMAN IS A LITERAL WIZARD." Beautiful work, as always. :-)
I don't know how often people compliment you on your fashion style but Lisa, it's amazing. you look great in this video !!! the art is as amazing as always too! thank you for sharing this with us
Hi Lisa, I just found your videos and I want to tell you how encouraged I am by them. I have been painting a little for a long time...but nothing for the last 2 years. I was thinking that I should stick with one medium and try to become good with it instead of switching back and forth, even though I am now way past retirement age. I certainly spent a fortune in supplies, with not much to show for it. So, I want to thank you for being so versatile and showing me how to work in different media, getting me excited to try paint again, and not feel guilty about it. Also, for teaching all your wonderful methods. Gratefully, Jackie Satterlee
Lisa this was insane! The amount of layers you did was incredible. Every time I️ thought it looked absolutely gorgeous, you made it even more perfect. Man so talented.
Oh, THAT is how you do the white blobs. I had been wondering. But i utterly refuse to buy yet another medium ;) Thanks for teh tutorial! Awesome painting!
An amazingly beautiful drawing/painting! I would love to be able to create something like this! I love your colorful artwork! Thank you for teaching us! Keep up the great work!
Yet another gorgeous drawing - thanks Lisa. Jacksons UK finally have Titanium White and Touch Up Texture in stock - 😊 I've ordered mine today, I can't wait!!!
the piece is stunning , you are a talented artist for sure , but an amazing teacher as well , your tips are so useful , it doesn't just need good skills to do that but also a good understanding of how human's mind work , and on top of that your funny . damn I love your channel
Great video, thanks. Just found out Jackson art are finally stocking Titanium White and touch up texture, yay I'll now have the full range from Brush & Pencil
amazing, I learned a lot from this season in making a 3D image through highlights and shadows. Ive used the blender. Ive not tried the odorless minerals.
Hi Lisa, Beautiful work. I didn't know you had a "shoulder chicken" aka cockatiel. How are your other "studio assistants"? It's amazing you did a three hour video and then a voice over for this half hour. Thanks so much for posting. Always a pleasure to watch and listen to your tips.
Great video Lisa! 😆 The piece came out beautifully. I'm so glad I finally bugged you enough to try the holbein...lol. 😜 I did the same to hubby, though a week later I bought him some and brought them in to him. I got a bit of stink eye for a second (that went away very quickly 😂) because he wasn't in the mood to try something new. He had been using createx for over 20 years. I asked a couple of days later if he liked them & got a "you were right"...they are awesome and aren't clogging. Now they are his go to paints. I am really glad you liked them! It would have really sucked if you didn't...I would have felt bad. But is that's not the case...yay! 😃
Lisa Clough Lachri Fine Art I'm so glad!!! 🤗 I really did think you would. Are you using only the transparent or did you get some opaques other than white? Hubby didn't want the opaque, but if you tried some, I'm curious as to what you think.
Hi Lisa! Is there really no difference as to when to use Polychromos pencils or Luminance pencils? It looks like you use both just according to color but is one better to use over the other? One better as a base? They both look like they blend equally well with mineral spirits. Does the use of mineral spirits affect the permanence of either the colors or the paper? It seems like it would...
Hi there Lisa, I absolutely love your work and I'm very inspired to do a lot of coloured pencil art myself. I have always loved them as a medium. I was wondering though when you have a piece that you wish to frame, how do you protect your work so that it lasts? I understand light fastness with various pencils etc right now I have Derwent watercolour pencils and I'm saving to get the FC Polychromos as well as Derwent Inktense, Graphictint, Coloursoft and Prismacolor although I have had many advise not to get Prismacolor due to various breakage issues. So if wanting to frame a piece within a glass frame, how would I preserve my work, would so use a fixative? I would be probably mounting my work also. I'd really appreciate any feedback. Thanks so much, love your tutorials and I'm also curious more about Patreon? Thanks so much!!!
Hi Lisa, love your work and tutorials. I have recently started my own work in colored pencils and a RUclips account under Imagination Art. I recently got some of the colored pencil touch up and titanium white, I love it. I gave you and your channel a shout out for the advice. I have a question. When you are drawing you images wither you are free handing or tracing, do you do it on your easel or a desk or table?
Hello. I have found your channel now, and I joined. You're wonderful and talented. Finally the video where someone cares to explain how. Make videos for beginners to draw with pencils and pastels? a friendly greeting from Italy Alessio Peluso
Hi, I have a question about joining your patron. I'm not sure what to expect so I am thinking that I ill be able to sorta take lessons by following along, practice and building kill. No, my concern, I enjoy giving my art work to family member. Sometimes as a Christmas gift but occasionally just for fun. Would I explain that I did this work from an online class and it' not my original work?
Definitely would love to try this. As I am a new color pencil artist Can you give us some ideas other than other mediums to fill a large background for a bird like this?(would like to stick with colored pencils only in my artwork-for now, thanks for all you show us Lisa!!)
It wouldn't be needed. The colored pencil sticks fine over the airbrush paint, the problem is that the pencils are fairly translucent so they don't show up really well over dark areas. Of course, this will vary by the pencil you're using.
I have THE best Blue & Gold macaw EVER. She does not scream, is a rescue and is 19 years old. I can take her out i public nd she will step off on people's hands and let anyone pet her and love on her. I've had exotic birds since the late 70's and Bird is the best bird on the lanet. So well behaved and a goodwill ambassador for what a good bird is like. I rescued her in 2001, she was born in 1999 according to her band. None of my other birds would go to anyone other other than me which is fairly normal in the paarrot world. Bird is def a special grrrrl!
Lovely video, Lisa :) Tell me, do you prefer the paint thinner or the powder blender for your pencils? Just surprised to see you using the paint thinner again when you loved the powder stuff so much!
What is 140 lb in gsm, please? And also, I must work on A2 size paper because the work I do is for school - I do not think the brand you use produces paper in this dimension. What brand of paper that comes in A2 size do you suggest for coloured pencils? Great videos with very helpful tips and ideas! thank you.
140lb is 300gsm, which is standard for watercolour paper. Most art papers do not use A4, A3, A2 etc, but use Something x Something. For A4, the closest size is 9x12(inches), for A3, 12x18. There is no size similar to A2 however.
Wow Lisa, WOW!!! We breed Macaws (amongst many other native and exotics) and this is unbelievably realistic, right down to the crepey feeling on the face! Am genuflecting in your general direction! 🙌😁 (Ps. Skirting board, antique dresser and pantry door have all been sacrificed for our avian passion 🤪😂) Lesson finally learnt and only 4 Rainbow Lories, 1 Quaker and 1 Peach Fronted Conure in the house now! 👍😉 Question..Have you tried Schminke Aero Colour inks? If so, how do you rate them against Holbein etc? x
Lisa..I have such a problem with Patreon, I just cant seem to find this on Patreon..Its a difficult format. I have looked under birds, airbrush, coloured pencils.
It's under the "colored pencil" tag. It was posted February 28th so you have to scroll back a bit. If you can't find it still, message me on Patreon where I can give you a direct link :D
The Createx you've been using are actually their textile range. It's meant for airbrushes with big nozzles and spraying at high pressure. There are many brands better than that. For starters and staying in the Createx range you could have gone to the Illustration series. It was developed by Dru Blair who use to use Holbein for many years. And then there is the EFX range from E'tac. It is amazing paint and reminds you of gouache. It even smells like candy. Those are available from www.usairbrush.com
😂 they truelly eat everything. my parrot taste my bunny's hay and pellet. He eat the corner of my 2 drawings which i hang on the wall. and.. its my fault. i let his cage close to that wall, and let him walk around. 😂 After your tutorial, i want to try this macaw💪🏻 love this channel! thank you lisa.
The only artist on RUclips that doesn’t bore me with slow talking and limited information. Best of the best!
I never see the airbrush in action! Very cool! I love it!

I thought the same thing!
She's amazing! I like her passion for her art and she gives a lot of her time to her tutorials. Is really connected to her followers.

Thank you :D
Wow, Lisa, this is beautiful!
I love the colors and the position of the macaw. It makes me want to stare at it for a long time.
Oh, THAT is how you do the white blobs. I had been wondering. But i utterly refuse to buy yet another medium ;) Thanks for teh tutorial! Awesome painting!
I'm loving the longer tutorials, thank you for your awesome vids and tips!!! :D

Have you ever explained why to use Black for the shadows rather than Indigo, I was always taught to use Indigo and have been, should I be using Black?
Turned out beautiful.
amazing, I learned a lot from this season in making a 3D image through highlights and shadows. Ive used the blender. Ive not tried the odorless minerals.
You blow me away you truly are an amazing artist
Hats off to you
hahhaha, yes, parrots eat EVERYTHING! Love your videos, they have gotten me back into drawing :)
Lisa you are Amazing! You are my inspiration,💗

They're great, they are both in the 360 studio tour that just went up today :D
Very beautiful Lisa. Thank you for sharing with us. Have a wonderful day 😀
Edited for misspelling only.

I got some of both :D
Hubby said he would like to know what you think of the opaques. 😆
Lachri Fine Art Oh can you send me a fb msg? I have something for you that I think will help you out...especially when buying the holbein aeroflash
Love love!!! Can't wait to watch the Patreon vid. But I need to get comfy for 3 hours. ❤️
New to your channel and I love it so much. Thank you Lisa!
Thanks! :D

Just curious i love mixed media but which sort of fixative do you use when you have say pastels and color pencil or paint all in one piece?
Can you use the texture spray over the acrylic paint to allow you to go over it better with the pencils?
It wouldn't be needed. The colored pencil sticks fine over the airbrush paint, the problem is that the pencils are fairly translucent so they don't show up really well over dark areas. Of course, this will vary by the pencil you're using.
Belíssimo trabalho...Parabéns...
Qual tinta utiliza no aerografo?!

I like them both for different reasons. If I want to airbrush a background, I prefer smooth paper so OMS is my go to for that.
Holbein is a good brand. I recently bought their artist watercolors and they are beautiful to work with.
Great work!!! I love your drawings and i love parrots 😍
Could please someone post the list of polychromos colours that she used in this work?
Another beautiful piece, Lisa. See you later on the live stream.
beautiful!

she is a wizard :)
What oil are you using.
I love this, its a very striking image :)
I have an African Grey, not as crazy as a Macaw but my God, he gets into everything!

Frisket :)
Thankyou :)
Perfect..............

After your tutorial, i want to try this macaw💪🏻 love this channel! thank you lisa.
Like your work. May I suggest you slow down when speaking. Did I say I love your work?
You're welcome to suggest it but it won't change anything lol. This is just how I naturally speak.
The only thing close to your staggering talent for realism, is how fast you talk without "Ums" or "ahs"!!
LOL. I can't control how fast I speak, but I figured I could make sure I enunciate and avoid the ums/like/you know/ah/uhs :D
Comment 100
please speak a little bit slow
honestly... i don't like this drawing. The background looks better...
