One of the few roles in which Foulger had a sizeable role. According to IMDb, he had 485 acting credits, mostly in supporting and bit parts. He appeared in quite a few Perry Mason episodes in the late 50s/early 60s. He was married to Dorothy Adams, who also had a gigantic credit list in supporting and bit parts, and their daughter, Rachel Ames, spent over 40 years (!) as the head nurse in the soap General Hospital. Foulger and Adams spent much time at the Pasadena Playhouse, performing and directing. I guess you can make a nice living on bit parts if you collect a lot of them!

Byron Foulger (Everett P. Digberry) had uncredited roles in "Mighty Joe Young" (Mr. Jones), "Blackbeard's Ghost" (Mr. Harrison) and "The Gnome-Mobile" (Hotel Desk Clerk). He also appeared in two Boris Karloff films: "The Man with Nine Lives" and "The Man They Could Not Hang." =)
Much better than expected, considering it was directed by the prolific William Beaudine who directed countless low-budget horror, mystery and comedies for Producers Co. and Monogram Pictures from the 30s thru the 50s and is, perhaps unfairly, on many "worst Director of All Time" lists. Pretty good acting and sharp dialogue with many humorous touches.
An extremely entertaining Hollywood movie from the far back days of the 40s of the last century containing tantalising suspense and sympathe portrayal of characters. violence that mars
hafta laff: why do all the men in these old movies always wear coat n tie? i've watched a thousand noir - and i like'm purty much - but the over abundance of coat and tie? at 73 yrs, i run around almost everywhere in jeans 'n' Tees, golf shirts.....church, symphony, football, basketball, LOLOLOLOL.
@@markgarin6355 I've seen worse, like uniformed police officers in the 1950's pulling snub-nosed revolvers out of their holsters. Or Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson using single-action Colt six-shooters. Or 1870's cowboys using 1894 Winchesters. Or 22nd-Century space travelers using 1950's M-1 Carbines.

Excellent movie, Terrific plot and superb acting 👍👍🙂
Thanks', excellent film! and Byron Folger is new to me , he is great!
Byron Foulger was the husband of the actress Dorothy Adams and the father of actress Rachel Ames.
he was one of the train engineers on petticoat junction.

Excellent excellent mystery
Love movies with a twist, would not have thought the police captain did it. Great one!
CCC's Star of the Month for February is Byron Foulger!
Just yesterday I watched an episode of Get Smart in which he showed up.

LOVED IT , THAT'S HOW TO MAKE A MYSTERY
Thank you! Super Bowl alterative!

It's called style. And class. *Anybody can dress like a bum.
Sidney Blackmer was great as the elderly devil-worshiper in "Rosemany's baby"
Full sized Luger ..the weapon hid after second shooting, was never made in a .32 caliber. A "mini-luger" was, but it is much smaller.
Now you’ve just gone & ruined the entire film. 😂👍🏻
@@ERGORSE ooops. Hah, they ruined the movie...how hard was it to pick a pistol that matched the story line?

Unusual film because there was no music sound track.
The music ruined a lot of otherwise good films.
Byron Foulger appeared as Oscar Belmont, a fraud, in the "Addams Family" TV episode, "Lurch and His Harpsichord," aired on March 19, 1965.
Wish the audio was better.
So much for search warrants!
