56:47 i love this talk, because it reflects the healing and introspection that prepares a man or woman to be a parent. Some people don’t do this critical thinking and continue to pass on generational traumas, fears, and problems. My parents were not too strict with me and didn’t talk to me about certain things. As a mom now, I plan to tell my son the truth about things and the consequences that can from it, so that he can factor that in when the world starts tempting him to go a certain way. Like Phil brought up the Bible verse, “Train a child up in the way he should go and when grows older he will not depart from it.” Yessss!
Keep Duby around! The alignment between you two is crazy. I wish that I could run into people like yall. People who are introspective and self-aware. Im still young-ish (24) so I know that Im at the age where my peers aren’t exactly there yet but it’s a blessing to see that people like this exist. Yall make me want to get active on my channel because I feel like im limiting myself to the people that I literally see outside. To be vulnerable online and share your life and journey just broadens that reach. I was familiar with you from FSU days since ball used to be life for me so I like to keep up with it but I love that I get to see this side of you Phil. Keep doing what you’re doing.
I feel the exact same way! I’m 24 as well and I’m having similar experiences. We will make it through and those that are meant for us and our journey will find us 😊

I peeped the shirt before you even said anything.☺️ Shoutout to the ‘reeeents! RIP🫶🏾 As a child, I never understood why my mom was so strict because I was an A/B student, in every sport, I wasn’t drinking, smoking, fornicating or anything. Once I became a woman though, she explained to me the things that happened to her as a child that left her with a lot of trauma. She just didn’t want those things to happen to me because she let me out of her sight. So I was no longer mad but rather understanding of her fear raising a girl. Growing up sheltered like that can definitely make a child wanna rebel just to fit in but that was never me because I knew God was gonna make an example out of me.😭😭😭 I just remained obedient and I still kept that straight and narrow path going into college. This was an edifying conversation. I love that black men in this generation are being more vulnerable and transparent with one another and on social media and growing a genuine friendship/brotherhood. This is what the generations of [black] men before us needed forreal. God bless you.❤
