Baby goat with the injured foot probably hadn’t been nursing. Poor thing. Eric is amazing and I hope he gets better soon. His farm is awesome and Maya proves yet again how compassionate she is by helping him out. Maya is a good human!
no wonder maya has been doing as much as she can to help eric, he seems so sweet and unfortunately he is like most farmers and neglect themselves while having excellent animal welfare
Yeah I saw a few chatters put off because things don’t look as glamorous as Alveus, but it really seems like a well ran operation! (And hopefully people realize that his dog breeding is different than other breeding)
Maya has an incredible amount of work with the wolves and an many collabs and an art auction... Also Maya: Of course I help my neighbor with goats! She is such an incredible human...
I don't mean to undermine Maya's incredible work and effort, but I think it's important to point out that when you find something you're truly passionate about, the concept of "work" can take on a different meaning. I'm sure she falls asleep in an instant at night because she's so exhausted, but at the same time, I know she absolutely loves what she's doing. In these moments, you can tap into an extra source of power and energy. She's an amazing individual, and I'm happy for her to be able to focus on something she truly loves. It's sometimes we should all strive for.
I absolutely adore Erik, what a sweet sweet old man. He reminds me of my grandpa who’s also a farmer, makes me so happy seeing maya help out someone like this. Thank you always maya, what you do is so so incredible.
"They arent afraid of me. baaaa. baaaaa. baaaaa." Eric is my new favorite human. If Eric is free sometime Maya should ask him do an interview and all he has learned over the years. That would be super interesting but only if he is okay with it.
Eric is awesome. So interesting to hear about breeding dogs because most people assume it’s inherently bad including myself in the past. I had no idea livestock guardian dogs could play a role in conservation!
Fun fact, Humans "should" be able to do this too, but they are born "early" after 9 months because of the size of the human birth canal being too small for our brains. If the birth canal was wider we'd have much longer gestation periods similar to other mammals like Whales, or perhaps even longer
Erics animals are cared for better than 80% of pets. The care he takes, to make sure they eat, sitting next to them. He knows them so well. How particular he is with how they are cared for speaks volumes. Amazing stream! Pls come back to show us the pups!
Oh my god, listening to Erics stories is amazing! Can you please let him know that we really appreciate him having the microphone and telling his stories? I assume, I was not the only who loved this. Thank you very much for this video
How the doggo put the other doggo in place when the goat chase happened was actually really impressive. Dogs are so smart man. Just one bark and bro sat and said sorry 😂
.....BABY DOATS!!!!!.... Baby doats ❤❤❤.... the other day someone commented that I was weird for talking into my writing patterns into a pre-made video.... well, how many dingleberries do you see yelling at their TV's during an NFL game???.... I have very little patience for smartass 10 year olds on a live chat so... this is better.
Edit for anyone who's interested: I did look it up and the answer is it's very complicated! Color in goats is not sex-linked like cats, but there are multiple loci that affect each other epistatically. The black is sometimes true black, and sometimes is dark brown that can get lighter with age.
Patterns are formed a lot of ways, but "moon spots" are very common on Nubians and tend to fade from dark to light with age like Eric said at 22:54. I couldn't find anything about their inheritance other than they seemed to be dominant.
i think it's very important to see how some female goats abandon their newborns and to acknowledge that this is part of the livestock industry too. the goats are made to be bred, it's not their choice whether they breed or don't breed. eric seems like a very nice guy trying his best to not just give up on a baby bc it was left behind, but yeah it's not as uncommon of a thing, and not every farmer would do that! :)
I did a google: Asiatic Lions are critically endangered (not from dogs, they were hunted with firearms until near extinction in the late 1800s like Eric said.) The last remaining population, less than 500 animals, lives in a protected conservation area in India.
I love this stream ❤ the goats are so precious especially chib the doggo was so sweet. I hope Eric gets better soon bc he takes care of the animals so well. Maya you are the best for helping them when they need it ❤ bah bah bah lama lama 😁
No in the stream Maya talked about how the animals are actually just there to teach the dogs he breeds how to be proper farm dogs. I know he does also sell some of the goats every year. Maya talked about how Tripper and Peewee would have been sold.
QT throwing tomatoes at the WORST time hahahaha Btw: people annoyyyy the heck out of me during bounties. Do they not understand they need to friggin play along if they want Maya and ACERO who we all love and the goats and her doggos and ferret and the lil Bagel Bite to EAT?!! Normally a CEO of a non profit would take a very decent salary but Maya DOES NOT DO THAT!!! Just shut up or play along people, jesus!!!

Eric is a hoot, could listen to him all day, he just has that drawl chatter.
One of the things I miss about being in the south!! Lol
baaa. baaaa. baaaa.
so real !!! i love me some old people that chatter endlessly but also insight--fully with that southern twang.
A true king
no wonder maya has been doing as much as she can to help eric, he seems so sweet and unfortunately he is like most farmers and neglect themselves while having excellent animal welfare
Yeah I saw a few chatters put off because things don’t look as glamorous as Alveus, but it really seems like a well ran operation! (And hopefully people realize that his dog breeding is different than other breeding)
Eric going “baaah” makes me so happy
He speaks the sacred language.
Maya has an incredible amount of work with the wolves and an many collabs and an art auction...
Also Maya: Of course I help my neighbor with goats!
She is such an incredible human...
This is exactly what I was thinking. She has so many other things she needs to be doing but she is so kind and selfless.
I don't mean to undermine Maya's incredible work and effort, but I think it's important to point out that when you find something you're truly passionate about, the concept of "work" can take on a different meaning. 1:29:15 that's so impressive. How well this dogs are trained
so crazy that goats can be like, only a few days old, and up and walking around perfectly.
Right out of the womb! Precocial
for real!! sheep too!
Fun fact, Humans "should" be able to do this too, but they are born "early" after 9 months because of the size of the human birth canal being too small for our brains. If the birth canal was wider we'd have much longer gestation periods similar to other mammals like Whales, or perhaps even longer
Was awesome listening to Eric!
Thanks Maya, for sharing this slice of your life. You are so kind. 😊
i love how he’s teaching maya everything he’s doing with the goats
well it makes sense since she's helping him with a lot of stuff when he has health issues
Eric seems great! I hope he takes it easy as best he can and rests those knees up.

What a nice lovely man! And the goats are rad too!
Oh my god, listening to Erics stories is amazing! Can you please let him know that we really appreciate him having the microphone and telling his stories? I assume, I was not the only who loved this. Thank you very much for this video
I’m 30 minutes in and this is the greatest stream ever, Eric is amazing!
*Llama has seeds in her fur*
Maya: "She's a seed disperser."
I love everything about this video, what a treat
How the doggo put the other doggo in place when the goat chase happened was actually really impressive. Dogs are so smart man. Just one bark and bro sat and said sorry 😂
Her neighbour was just sitting there like an npc waiting to be talked to 😭

Absolutely enjoyed this stream! Thank you Maya and Eric!
I've been watching Maya for a while. I could live in this stream, the best yet!
This content is just amazing and so relaxing. Great stream. Maya's the best!
Now I'm interested in the inheritance patterns of coat colors for goats. Is brown dominant?
Edit for anyone who's interested: I did look it up and the answer is it's very complicated! Color in goats is not sex-linked like cats, but there are multiple loci that affect each other epistatically. The black is sometimes true black, and sometimes is dark brown that can get lighter with age.

@@mollycook1847nice, thanks for the info
Loved meeting Eric! Great stream.
i know how hard it is to sit down and let others help out w my babies.... im so happy he has you as a neighbour
..... that llama call reminds me of Napoleon Dynamite..." Tina.. come get the food... come get the FOOD!!!"

That sounded like a human man DYING
Omg, I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking that was like a grown man screaming 😂😭
Can we get live streams on eric's farm? I could watch him bah at goats all day

there are so many baby goats what does he use them for? Does he sell goat milk ?
i think the females are for breeding, and the males for slaughter. iirc she got tripper and peewee because they would've been sent to slaughter else
No in the stream Maya talked about how the animals are actually just there to teach the dogs he breeds how to be proper farm dogs.
