Interesting. I've always inserted the invisible zipper first and closed the rest of the seam, later. Must try it this way and compare.
Highly recommend basting the zipper first, especially for beginners! Especially on slippery fabrics.

Yes, I still do a basting stitch. It's always good to check the seams match up before doing the final stitch. 😊
