Are you seriously telling me you made this entire thing by yourself in a week? It makes me sad to see that this masterpiece of a video only has 7 000 views.
One of the most impressives videos on the internet...the amount of work and quality vs the original song is astonishing. Pls, consider to publish this as a paid promotion, this should be watched by millions.
I'd still say this is about the best thing I've found on RUclips. Ever. Octavarium was my first Dream Theater album, and though it took me some time to warm up to it, once I listened to the album I knew it was something really special. This song is still one of my favorites by Dream Theater, and this arrangement is very carefully made and has incredible attention to detail. To think one person made this by himself... It would have taken me much more than a week. You win. Everything.
The amount of work this seems like it's taken is impressive. Quality work, excellent transcription as well. I've found a lot of transcriptions of DT stuff tend to be sloppy, bad time signatures, obvious wrong notes, etc. There was none of that here. High quality stuff. Very well done!
Here's my less whorish comment that I develop as the video goes on. First of all, Jamie I love you man and I'm so thankful you didn't let Operation 8VA die. Also, you may not be the most talented MPCer, but you are definitely one of the most dedicated. I know that's an on and off trait, but look, in a month, you've produced 5 different songs totaling to nearly an hours worth of MPC goodness. For some reason I really love the part at 18:28. You also made Intervals fucking amazing.
Favorited, actually... just the effort and time spent on this, the note accuracy especially in the middle instrumental sections, and the intro and outro, just simply incredible. Easily one of the best MPC pieces I've EVER seen.
This is a brilliant cover of the song; a great breath of new life into the original, and its ultimately fascinating I find how well music can stand the test of time; and I'm younger than the original album! Great work with managing the time signatures btw; massive props to the 7/16 parts
oh fuck yes. I had a huge grin on my face when i saw the thumbnail on the main page. If this doesn't win Song of the Year, I'll cry. Seriously. This is some amazing shit right here. The effort you put into this must've been herculean. Goddamn, if I weren't already subscribed, I'd do it now. 5/- i mean, 'like' and faved, but that really doesn't do this justice. also... >cocktavarium you would, wouldn't you?
Lyrics: I never wanted to become someone like him So secure content to live each day just like the last I was sure I knew that this was not for me And I wanted so much more Far beyond what I could see So I swore that I'd Never be someone like him So many years have passed Since I proclaimed my independence My mission My aim And my vision So secure content to live each day like it's my last It's wonderful to know that I could be Something more than what I dreamed Far beyond what I could see Still I swear that I'm Missing out this time As far as I could tell There's nothing more I need But still I ask myself Could this be everything? @Lihyahm I move out to university in like 4 days so I won't have time for MPC but when I do eventually make a new one it'll most likely be Metropolis pt. 1.
That was crazy impressive, WeeJay o_O I still can't wrap my head around the length of this piece, as well as the great arranging it contains. This is quite a damn feat, dude. Not only does it sound awesome, but you really sped through making it O_o Just wow. The ending is especially cool, by the way 8-P Just amazing work! :-D
YES, ANOTHER COMMENT! THIS IS THE OST EPIC SHIT I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! I SHOULD DELETE ALL VIDEOS FROM MY FAVORITES AND LEAVE ONLY THIS ONE!!! THIS WOULD EXPRESS HOW MUCH "FAVORITE" THIS IS!!! YOU ARE INSANE WEEJAY!

I searched 'most viewed video on youtube' and this didn't show up.
Needless to say, I was disappointed.
9 people are trapped inside the Octavarium. In all seriousness, thank you for sharing this. Absolutely brilliant.
Are you seriously telling me you made this entire thing by yourself in a week? It makes me sad to see that this masterpiece of a video only has 7 000 views.
Don't you just love having unlimited upload time?
That was insane. I would never have had the patience to do the whole 24 minute piece.
Ah I remember when RUclips had a 20 minute upload limit
18:19
I'm pretty sure the "Jingle Bells" part was a reference to A Change of Seasons xD

Hands down one of the coolest things I've seen in a while. I really enjoyed how you arranged this!
Also, how weird of you. I LOVE IT
How long did this take!?
I meant like the amount of hours, not the days you’ve worked on it
Sussy imposter baka

This is really really really ridiculously good sounding.

I have no words... Congrats man! It must have taken a long time to make. Just amazing!

you would, wouldn't you?
At first I was starting to wonder when it would pick up. Then I actually looked at how long the video is. Have to say you did excellent work.
Lyrics: I never wanted to become someone like him
So secure content to live each day just like the last
I was sure I knew that this was not for me
And I wanted so much more
Far beyond what I could see
So I swore that I'd
Never be someone like him
So many years have passed
Since I proclaimed my independence
My mission
My aim
And my vision
So secure content to live each day like it's my last
It's wonderful to know that I could be
Something more than what I dreamed
Far beyond what I could see
Still I swear that I'm
Missing out this time
As far as I could tell
There's nothing more I need
But still I ask myself
Could this be everything?
Then all I swore
That I would never be was now
So suddenly
The only thing
I wanted
To become
To be someone just like him
A doctor sitting next to me
He asks me how I feel
Not sure I understand his questioning
He says I've been away a while
But thinks he has cured me
From a state of catatonic sleep
For 30 years where have I been
Eyes open but not getting through to me
Medicate me, infiltrate me
Side effects appear
As my conscience slips away
Medicate me, science failing
Conscience fading fast
Can't you stop what's happening
A higher dosage he prescribes
But there's no guarantee
I feel it starting to take over me
I tell him not to be ashamed
There's no one who's to blame
A second shot, a brief awakening
I feel the relapse, can't break free
Eyes open but not getting through to me
Medicate me, infiltrate me
Side effects appear
As my conscience slips away
Medicate me, science failing
Conscience fading fast
Can't you stop what's happening?
Sailing on the seven, seize the day, tripper diem's ready
Jack the ripper, Owens Wilson, Phillips and my supper's ready
Lucy in the sky with diamond
Dave's not here, I come to save the day for nightmare
Cinema show me the way to get back home again
Spinning round and round
(Looking outward, reaching in) Scream without a sound
(Leaning over, crawling up) Stumbling all around
(Losing my place only to) Find I've come full circle
Flying off the handle
With careful with that axe
Eugene gene the dance machine
Messiah light my fire gabba gabba
Hey hey, my my generation's home again
Spinning round and round
(Looking outward, reaching in) Scream without a sound
(Leaning over, crawling up) Stumbling all around
(Losing my place only to) Find I've come full circle
Our deadly sins feel his mortal wrath
Remove all obstacles from our path
Asking questions, search for clues
The answer's been right in front of you
Try to break through, long to connect
Fall on deaf ears and failed muted breath
Loyalty, trust, faith and desire
Carries love through each darkest fire
Tortured insanity, a smothering hell
Try to escape but to no avail
The calls of admirers who claim they adore
Drain all your lifeblood while begging for more
Innocent victims of merciless crimes
Fall prey to some madmen's impulsive designs
Step after step we try controlling our fate
When we finally start living it's become too late
Trapped inside this Octavarium
Trapped inside this Octavarium
Trapped inside this Octavarium
Trapped inside this Octavarium
We move in circles
Balanced all the while
On a gleaming razor's edge
A perfect sphere
Colliding with our fate
This story ends where it began
This is seriously amazing
