Jameson Williams' growth has been exponential during year 2. C-minus is a fair grade for his overall 2-year performance, but if you were to look at his most recent test performances (last few games or last half of season 2) he's trending more like a B
I agree 100%. His big play ability is his strength, not his total yards per season. Check the touches to TD % and watch as he gets better with more snaps next year. He has a niche here that he is settling into
There's a reason Stingley was taken 3rd overall...the way he suffocated his fellow LSU Tiger Ja'Marr Chase by staying tight throughout his routes is incredibly rare in today's NFL. His issue comes from the frequency of injuries, but beyond that he has a very bright future ahead, and possibly could lead the league next year if the Texan improve their front 7 even more.
He’s extremely talented. According to Stroud he is “by far” the best athlete on the team. Dude ran a 4.37 after just three weeks from being cleared from an injury.
I feel like Jamo's production is more a B-/B, while his pure receiving stats aren't amazing he's been critical to that offense, from his success on sweeps, taking defenses attentions away off the top (opening up the field for AMSB, Laporta, Reynolds and Gibbs to be more efficient on check downs) and has done a ton in the way of blocking. Many of the Lions long touchdowns were results of Jamo's downfield blocking, even taking out two defenders on Monty's 75yd TD.
I'd say C is the fairest grade. If he doesn't produce more, his Arthur Smith Kyle Pitts level decoy role isn't going to hold up. He was advertised as much more than he is currently. Optimistic he does better next season, but time will tell what his career will be like.
I imagine using him more on screens instead of mostly jet sweeps and deep shots will get him to be significantly more useful. Imagine a double sided screen pass option of Jamo and Jahmyr
Appreciate the level headed grade for Cross. As a seahawks fan I would give him a B as well. Injury definitely slowed down the start to the year and he's had a couple stinkers of games. He's only just turned 23 though and you see the potential in flashes. If he can stay healthy I think he's gonna take a nice step forward in 2024.
@@YessirMikeDeanYessir You mention that, but the video guy didn't say shit about it. He did mention it for Garrett Wilson and he gave him an A. He did mention it for Drake London and gave him a B+. @@jirikurto3859 Fr I understand those guys were the projected stars of the class but I’ve seen sparks of Dotson’s true talent and is obvious he could ball out on the right team
It should be noted that Washington trading down also allowed them to get Brian Robinson and Sam Howell. BRob is looking like he can be Washingtons workhorse RB, and while Sam didn’t have the best year he did show he can be a solid NFL QB. When looking at the total value of that trade back, and not just Dotson, I’d say both the Commanders and Saints mutually benefitted.
@@jirikurto3859 I know. He only looks at the first round picks on face value, but some of these picks have additional context that can make them better or worse.
I definitely wish we took Hutch but Travon Walker is trending in the right direction. 10 sacks 10 TFL isn't bad for year 2 after learning a new a position. I'm excited to see how he does in Ryan Nielsen's defense.
@tricky5222 keep in mind that the Jags DT's were terrible last year. This year he will have Arik Armstead lined up next to him. That will give him more one on one opportunities and QBs won't be able to step up in the pocket.
@@tricky5222 thats a scary thought considering he literally had nobody else on that lions defensive line to take attention away from him leading to hutch always getting doubled or even triple teamed and with those stats despite that its a scary thought to think what hutch would be with someone else on his dlne
yeah, we owe Jax at least one draft pick... They did us an big solid and they made Michigan and Lions fans very happy keeping their hometown prodigy in Detroit...
I'm a Jags fan. Had they still been a base 4-3, I think they would've picked Hutchinson (emphasis on "I think"). Saw the Lions' Hard Knocks season, the family wanted to stay in Michigan anyway. I'm glad Detroit got him. Besides, had Hutch gotten the same stats in Jacksonville, the media wold be bending in pretzels explaining how he wasn't "really" that good.
I'd give Jameson Williams a B/B- so far. He's added some dynamic playmaking abilities, and as you mentioned, the Lions have a lot of weapons for Goff, so he isn't getting a ton of targets or play designed for him. His first year was basically a wash given the injury he was coming off of
And Goff is still adjusting to his speed. Jamo was under thrown on at least half of all the deep passes thrown to him this year. despite this, he has come down with the ball on every contested catch that he has gotten his hands on. He was clutch in the Lions post season. And his end sweeps are a thing of beauty...
Jamo was out the majority of his rookie season, then was suspended a few games in his 2nd. He’s a dynamic and game changing player. How did you not give this an “Incomplete” is almost criminal.
he wanted to do incomplete for Jamo but people were complaining in his comments for his last video for all the "incomplete" grades he handed out so he gave everyone grades for this one
Jahan Dotson is such a really good player he's got the absolute BEST hands in the NFL from the day he was not just at the nfl combine but in his pro day he really had hands like magnet hands but I'm sure he will continue to be or get better and better for here on in moving forward in the future he's special player no matter what or how you see it cause his 2022 rookie season not to shabby at all 1:28
You missed the grade on Jamison Williams. He does so many things when he doesn’t have the ball. The running backs love how he blocks down the field for them to get extra yards.
One thing that's important to Mention with kayvon is the Defensive scheme he was in. Wink Martindales scheme has a lot of disguised blitz so kayvon would drop back in coverage semi frequently, taking away pass rush snaps. With the Giants new DC, I would expect Kayvon to have much better production this season.
Lions Had the home run of the 23' draft class in Hutchinson. Every time he is interviewed it's clear that he breathes the game 24/7. Lions just need one more decent edge rusher on the other side and Hutch will easily break 15+ sacks in 2024...
@@FootballAnalysis1can you do before this draft with guys who have already played? As after this draft there’s not gonna be more players to grade with this 1st round pick not playing!
I had to convince multiple people (Lions fans included) that Hutch was the better option at 2nd overall than Kayvon. People fell in love with Kayvons athleticism so much that they failed to see Hutchs motor and determination. Hutch reminds me a lot of Jared Allen.
Yooo....Thank you so much for putting this together. It is a refreshing endeavor, especially when considering how absurd it is to grade a draft the day after it is completed! I hate draft day grades, and EVERYONE has them and an opinion on every team...actually grading the team on what they came away with before any of these guys ever played a game. This needs to be the NEW NORM!!!!
I completely agree like last year when everyone was ripping the lionsfor taking jahmyr gibbs and he ended up being one of the best players in the class and how everyone thought cj stroud would be a bust but he was the complete opposite it just doesnt make sense to grade a pick before the player even played a snap
Kind of weird that Garrett Wilson and Drake London were giving good grades using poor QB play for context but Jahan Dotson got a C without QB play being mentioned. Expect him with Mayes and an improved line to make a huge leap.
Howell was much better than Ridder or Zach Wilson. The only reason the QB play was even bad in Washington was their swiss cheese line. Howell was still productive.
@poeticalvision With Howell, even Scary Terry's stats fell off. He was productive for about 1/3 of the year before falling off to a bottom 5 QB. And before that, Jahan was depending on Carson Wentz and Heinicke to get him the ball. He absolutely deserves as much benefit of the doubt due to bad QB play as the other receivers.
I guess I see it as he’s not playing as good when he has a bad qb and honestly Washington’s O line was not good in 2023 but Sam Howell was not bad at times
Jamo will be a very good WR. I’m glad you are grading this now. Instead of the beginning of the year. Ben Johnson will figure out how to get him involved. And Hutch is Hutch. He’s all about Detroit Rock City 💥💙
Jameson Williams I don’t have a problem with the grade, but he did take a big leap forward near the end of the season and the playoffs. I think he’s shown he has huge play potential at any time, and Ben Johnson has started to really design plays for him/Goff has started to look for him more I think he cements himself as a big play threat WR2 in 2024 and improves his grade
I like your grading system because it's one of those "honest, the truth hurts" fact based analysis that doesn't go off of "hopes and prayers" of prospect potentials, but actual reality so far. The break downs have solid substantiate evidence in the stats in the presentation.
Jets draft was just as good as it seemed at the time, maybe better. 1st and 3rd best players in the draft imo, not to mention Breece Hall, Jermaine Johnson, and a massively underutilized Jeremy Ruckert. Crazy
I've watched Hutch enough over the past two years to know that if he didn't get held as much as he does, he'd have way more sacks lol. Dude is a menace. Glad you touched on context. Like Garrett Wilson is just phenomenal and he's put up solid numbers with horrendous QB's.
I remember a concern with Hutchinson was that he might be a finished product with a limited ceiling. I tell you what, when you mentioned his pressures increasing that much in a single season it tells you all you need to know about this "finished" product. Every time I turn on the film, every down, I am stunned by his level of effort he gives. Even some of the better pass rushers in the league give tells with their play; with Hutchinson it is truly hard to determine because his switch is always on. I guarantee you the lineman guarding him doesn't enjoy contending with that. Nothing against Walker, but there's no question in my mind who I'd rather take for my football team of the two today. Players who play with boundless energy like Hutchinson are extremely hard to come by and set the tone for your football. Detroit got a absolute knockout and I'm excited to see the man continue to raise hell as a fan of football.
To say that he upgraded the run defense noticeably is a bit of an understatement. we would go from top five rushing defense to in the twenties without him
One of my favorites nights as a ravens fan. Before the draft started I said I would be excited if we could get Linderbaum or if we got lucky, Hamilton. Huge night to get both.
I hated the idea of getting Tyler at 14 as that seemed like a bad idea to get him that early as a small center. But getting him late first and getting Hamilton who I was drooling over. That was the best draft party ever… just watching him keep dropping and when I started to believe it was possible to get him I lost my mind. The Ringer released an article on him and the perception of the safety position. The week of the draft that sold me on him
I get the low grade for Jamo based on overall production, but I'm convinced he's gonna have a breakout year in 2024. He made big strides towards the end of the season and was a force of nature in the NFC Championship Game. Lions brass has even said they plan to move Jamo up to the WR2 spot on the depth chart, and this regime is notoriously stingy about making people earn their spots in the starting lineup. I'd be stunned if he didn't crack 1,000 yards next year.
You can’t say olave isn’t A+ because he’s not a top 5 against all recievers 😂. It’s who he was drafted with and against them he’s top 2, he’s also had terrible qb play and elevated his offense
It’s very unfortunate for Walker that Hutch ended up being so good. He was always billed as a project and appears to be coming along nicely, Hutch just happens to already be a borderline top 5 edge rusher in football.
As a Texans fan hoping Green will come good but have my doubts, killer than we could've had Hamilton in the secondary but hey the GM etc went with Green as we need O-Line help, hopefully Ryans can work his magic with KG
Glad to see Travon improving i was mad skeptical abt him, but hes been much better all id say is get his pressure rate up more and make tackles when u blow up a play
And the fact that he can zone cover a tight end and man cover some of them too is straight insane at his size. On another note, I'd like to see him be used more in Spys and I formations. I imagine his size might be the reason why he isn't, but that would be cool. You can do so much with his physical toolset. Did he deserve to be a top 3 pick? Absolutely not. But top 5? Top 10? Why not, he's too athletically gifted and polished in run defense for him to at the very least be starting caliber most of his career. While it wasn't a slam dunk pick, he wasn't the worst choice for the first overall pick.
@@kimyona9746 yea i wasnt a Travon fan tho full transparency proved me wrong spy could work he seems to usually run a contain but one thing id say is when hes played 3T it works wonders so if we were to somehow get a better pass rusher like Danielle and try out Travon whos had proven success in pass rushing and run defense at 3T in Georgia it could make a serious DL and fill a hole that my Jags desperately need filled
@@loganearp2338 absolutely. He's built to be a 3 tech/spy/run d guy. He's not a boundary pass rusher at this time. He'd probably excel more as a middle linebacker than a 4-3 edge rusher/3-4 boundary pass rusher if he weighed 250 instead of 270. His skillset would make him just go through all the guards with those arms being 36 inches and with his speed to power ratio, he would dominate guards. While the potential to be a boundary pass rusher is there. His skillset would just make him so much better in those non-traditional roles. He's a middle linebacker the size of a 3-4 end that can 3-tech he's gonna be insane with all them stunts and semi-interior pass rush things
As a Lions fan im happy with where jamo has ended up so far. And despite the mess that was the end of the nfc championship. Jamo played out of his mind in that gamr and really showed us what he can be.
I would argue against the Jameson Williams C-, I think an incomplete would be better but look at the conference championship game, he had 67 yards and 2 tds on 3 touches (3 total targets, 2 catches and one run). The problem is he is schemed in a way that they aren't giving him the volume to really be the big play maker he was drafted as. He is often the deep threat that allows for Laporta and St Brown to work the inside of the field, despite rarely getting a chance to make a play on those balls (and often Jared misses him when he doesn't break it open). I dont think its an A or even necessarily a B grade, but C- seems a little too low.
Man I can easily see Hutch getting 16 to 20 sacks this year up to 200 pressures especially with the edition of DJ Reeder and Marcus Davenport and also a collective of new DB Carlton Davis III, Amik Robertson. Not to mention the draft as we been hitting 80% of our draft and those rookies were ready day 1. Man Lions and going to be dangerous this year.
Dude, your football knowledge is really good. Next year when u make a '23 grade list, could u include this year grades. Would be nice to know the improvement the young guys made.
Honestly, I'm okay with C- for Jamo. I feel like when all is said and done it'll be a B or better, and frankly I think they're better with him even up to this point than they would have been without. But I would agree that he hasn't been a 12th overall pick catcher of the football yet. He's right at the border of where continuing to improve would more-or-less validate the pick, but playing a little worse would make him a bust, and I think that fits the C or C- area.
I agree Dotson may have been taken a bit early, but also think his numbers would be better in his first two seasons with better QB play. I see a pass on that is given to guys like Drake London and Garrett Wilson. But let's be honest ... having Heinicke, Wentz and/or Howell throw you the ball is no better than having Desmond Ridder or Zach Wilson as your QB.
Only rating I disagree with is Dotson vs Williams, I definitely think Dotson should be higher than him. Williams has had way more consistent QB play and play calling. Dotson also has an alpha with Terry McLaurin above him but Dotson has still been able to produce. I understand Williams was injured for most of his first year, but I also think his suspension this year should be considered in his grade, he missed games for something that was completely in his control. Based on the expectation I think Williams should be an F, and Dotson I'd have somewhere in the C's.
In fairness to Kayvon he was in a scheme that didn’t fit him where pass rushers always struggle and he was playing from behind A LOT he was also getting double teamed every other play because there was nobody on the opposite side for the offenses to worry about with azeez ojulari injured almost every game. The scheme change should benefit him a ton and he could also benefit from a lot of time in the weight room getting his lower body stronger
10/10 draft analysis, thank you for the content! All draft grades are right where they should be. Here’s to hoping Jamo makes the splash he’s supposed to this year 🔥 #onepride
B is fair for the #5 pick who although he has flashed dominance and has put up pretty good overall numbers he’s also been very inconsistent and sometimes only shows up when he wants to
Not that it matters, but Hutch grew up as a Patriots fan, not a Lions fan. You mention that he gets to help rebuild the team that he grew up watching, but he plays for Detroit and he grew up watching the Patriots
I believe we can agree that Ed Reed is one of the greatest Safeties in NFL's History all with the Baltimore Ravens as the Hall Of Famer he is but Kyle Hamilton he gets a A+ cause as long he stays healthy he'll become something in his young career 3:42
Damn... its crazy how Hutch went from 55 pressures to 110 but sacks only went up by 2. 33 QB hits is nuts though. Kayvon had 44 pressures? Not even in the same realm as Hutch.
Id give J. Williams a B or B- grade (as a Lions fan). He hasnt had time to get into a rythem until this year and hes always going to be the luxury big play guy. Hes been earning more snaps too with his willingness to block. His hands have been disappointing (he catches with his body a lot), but his speed is such a weapon that i watch for him every play. When he does touch the ball he scores touchdowns. I think hes becomind exactly who the Lions need him to be, and this next year will be telling for if he will reach his full potential.
Not enough production and you guys traded up to draft Williams. If someone like Josh Reynolds is out producing him, it’s a problem. C grade is correct.
@@jsnike91Well said. I think they'd trade him if they could get enough for him. There a reason four Lions players felt so oppressed on their way out of one of Cap'n Dan's meetings that they childishly lashed out by breaking the rules. & I think Jamo is tolerated because he's too talented to just release, but the lack of production _has_ to be by choice. If he wasn't running his routes properly they'd have traded him already. He doesn't fit the tight ship the Lions want to force everyone to work on. Still, we'll see.
@kimyona9746 you're probably right. But he brings more than just production. Defense has to change how they defend when he's on the field just in case. If we didn't trade up I'd love the pick, but he's still a fun player to have on the team.
@@wlnlax14 if we took jamo at 32 it would just be a dart throw. At 12 we were banking on him being good. I really thought Jahan was going to be special after his rookie year. He completely slumped in his sophomore season. I'm not ready to write him off yet, but he must step it up. Hopefully, better QB play and QB protection will make a difference.
I am still scratching my head on my jags taking Walker with the number one pick. I am interested to see how Ryan Nielsen uses his skill set. Walker has a higher ceiling than Hutch, but will it ever be realized?
I am a UGA fan and I have always thought the Jags made a mistake falling in love with his combine numbers more than what was on tape. He has not been a bust but Hutchsion has a higher motor and is a better football player to this point.

He's only just turned 23 though and you see the potential in flashes. If he can stay healthy I think he's gonna take a nice step forward in 2024.
First time viewer here,
This is excellently done.
In two years I'll give this an A+.

Im still all in on jahon dotson he is good player. He had very good rookie year
He just doesn’t get the ball thrown his way
Doesn’t have the coaching or QB he needs to shine, really is a shame
@@YessirMikeDeanYessir You mention that, but the video guy didn't say shit about it. He did mention it for Garrett Wilson and he gave him an A. He did mention it for Drake London and gave him a B+. He gave Dotson a C+ despite him having more TDS than both and being picked much lower. This guy is a clown.
@@jirikurto3859 Fr I understand those guys were the projected stars of the class but I’ve seen sparks of Dotson’s true talent and is obvious he could ball out on the right team
Bust is crazy his production is not terrible
It should be noted that Washington trading down also allowed them to get Brian Robinson and Sam Howell. BRob is looking like he can be Washingtons workhorse RB, and while Sam didn’t have the best year he did show he can be a solid NFL QB. When looking at the total value of that trade back, and not just Dotson, I’d say both the Commanders and Saints mutually benefitted.
He's not that deep.
On that pressure rate.. unsustainable. Im worried about him in a world without allen if that comes. Imagine if hutch had allen
As a Lions fan, Thank you Jacksonville for not picking Hutch #1
yeah, we owe Jax at least one draft pick...
Besides, had Hutch gotten the same stats in Jacksonville, the media wold be bending in pretzels explaining how he wasn't "really" that good.
np, we'll take Travon over him anyway
As a Jags fan who lives in Michigan and hates the Lions you don't speak for me. Hutchinson has been twice the player. Jags messed up.
IMO Cross has been far and away the best LT taken in the draft and he is still super young. He has up and downs but he shows how good he can be.
I agree..I really like him he looks really fluid as a blocker. The russel Wilson trade was genius.
I mean Sky Moore has more yards than this guy
Breakdown the jets 2022 class vs the lions 2023 class. Both teams got 4 key contributors in the first 2 rounds. Really amazing classes
Yes. Jamos growth was substantial towards the end of the 2023 season. 2 Touchdowns in the NFC championship game. He is gonna breakout in 2024.
Jahan Dotson is such a really good player he's got the absolute BEST hands in the NFL from the day he was not just at the nfl combine but in his pro day he really had hands like magnet hands but I'm sure he will continue to be or get better and better for here on in moving forward in the future he's special player no matter what or how you see it cause his 2022 rookie season not to shabby at all 1:28
Absolute best? No
@@maskedman5657yes and this is from a cowboys fan, I think that was an A- pick
You missed the grade on Jamison Williams. He does so many things when he doesn’t have the ball. The running backs love how he blocks down the field for them to get extra yards.
Wait till you see what he does this year... Jamo is going to terrorize opposing DB's who have to try and cover him.
Hey bro, I love your content and I was wondering if you could do a Video grading the last 10 1st round picks for each team
We might do this after the draft 👀
Love this idea
I completely agree like last year when everyone was ripping the lionsfor taking jahmyr gibbs and he ended up being one of the best players in the class and how everyone thought cj stroud would be a bust but he was the complete opposite it just doesnt make sense to grade a pick before the player even played a snap
this is so superior to those who tell us how great players are going to be. thank you
Kind of weird that Garrett Wilson and Drake London were giving good grades using poor QB play for context but Jahan Dotson got a C without QB play being mentioned.
I think he’s shown he has huge play potential at any time, and Ben Johnson has started to really design plays for him/Goff has started to look for him more
I think he cements himself as a big play threat WR2 in 2024 and improves his grade
Can you imagine how good Hutch would do if he had Allen as bookends? All of those pressures would be some sacks.
Crazy
Incredibly accurate and fair grades on the top half of this draft! Well done, sir!!
To say that he upgraded the run defense noticeably is a bit of an understatement. we would go from top five rushing defense to in the twenties without him
pretty accurate list but olave, garret wilson, jamison williams and dotson deserve a little more love
I really like your grades!!!$Well done sir❤
I love Jamo and hope you're right. Was extremely high on him entering 2023 and will be in 2024 too
You can’t say olave isn’t A+ because he’s not a top 5 against all recievers 😂. It’s who he was drafted with and against them he’s top 2, he’s also had terrible qb play and elevated his offense
surely you're not saying that Carr and Zach Wilson are both on the same tier
It’s very unfortunate for Walker that Hutch ended up being so good. He was always billed as a project and appears to be coming along nicely, Hutch just happens to already be a borderline top 5 edge rusher in football.
So gratifying to see Hutch make good in the NFL. Love that guy!
As a Texans fan hoping Green will come good but have my doubts, killer than we could've had Hamilton in the secondary but hey the GM etc went with Green as we need O-Line help, hopefully Ryans can work his magic with KG
Those Texans red color rush uniforms or blue color rush and red helmets is crazy
Good analysis. You actually used reason in your explanations rather than just looking at the stats. W
His skillset would make him just go through all the guards with those arms being 36 inches and with his speed to power ratio, he would dominate guards. While the potential to be a boundary pass rusher is there. His skillset would just make him so much better in those non-traditional roles.
Man Lions and going to be dangerous this year.
c- for jamo is wild
As an Eagles fan grade of Big JD is on the money ,dude is a monster...with Carter and a back D...DANGEROUS!
Dude, your football knowledge is really good. Next year when u make a '23 grade list, could u include this year grades. Would be nice to know the improvement the young guys made.

Thank you!
Love the added context, two years is not enough time to solidify a players career!
Hutch also has 4 interceptions in his first couple years which is crazy for an edge rusher
Just want to once again thank the Jags for passing on Hutch and letting him fall to the Lions👍🏾
Lol! Seriously
Thx for the great video. I've always wondered how T. Walker was doing.
My boy Hutch was a beast in college and he is even more so in the NFL... Hail Michigan!!!
As a Lions fan - Jamo's an absolute stud. No doubts whatsoever that he'll be a stud.
Good video man!
Thank you!

Sauce is also from detroit MI. I always joke around the lions need to trade for him lol
I would love to see a regrading of draft classes from 4 or 5 years ago. That would be entertaining.
Next you should do “grading the 1975 draft 49 years later”
In fairness to Kayvon he was in a scheme that didn’t fit him where pass rushers always struggle and he was playing from behind A LOT he was also getting double teamed every other play because there was nobody on the opposite side for the offenses to worry about with azeez ojulari injured almost every game. The scheme change should benefit him a ton and he could also benefit from a lot of time in the weight room getting his lower body stronger
Sauce & Hutch are generational players. The fact 2 defensive players were taken in front of them baffles me.

He should not have been picked before 25 (a lions fan as well)
@@jsnike91Well said.
Imagine if we traded up to 12 to grab idk mcduffie or something (granted, I had him as a top 10 prospect) we could have done so much more in that draft as it might go down as one of the most stacked draft classes at the corner position ever. Like seriously 5 of the top 15 players in that draft are corners. Idk, i just felt that draft could have even more of a home run even without foresight. Brad still crushed that draft though. Jamo is an okay player, but still very dissapointing
Very harsh critique on Dotson he’s been decent and Olave been a WR1 Dotson a WR2/WR3
Yea I think the critique is more confirmation bias because many didn't like where he was drafted.
For six months reading mock drafts Kayvon and Turner were considered 1st picks in the draft I am a GIANTS fan so I will like to see what there do this coming season.....
Never forget that Brock Purdy was the last pick in this draft. LETS GO CYCLONES!
I don’t blame Dotson I blame coaching Eb refused to use him he would go multiple games without target this should a good year coming up for him
I actually laughed when the jags picked trayvon #1 was so hyped to pick him up at #2
