She Died and Visited Heaven? Doctor's Near-Death Experience Sheds Light on Life After Death

- Dr. Mary Neal is an accomplished spinal surgeon whose Near-Death Experience (NDE) has inspired millions. That story, told in Angel Studios' new film "After Death" (premiering Oct. 27 in theaters) unfolded on a South American river when she became submerged while kayaking and says she visited heaven. "My husband and I are avid kayakers," Neal told CBN Digital. "We've kayaked for decades all around the country [and] internationally." But when they joined friends in Chile for a special trip for her husband's birthday, their jovial time was shattered.
Neal ended up going over a waterfall and experienced something she could "never have dreamed up." "The boat and I were immediately submerged under eight to 10 feet of water," she said. "I didn't panic. I set about trying to free me or free the boat ... but the weight of the water and the force of the current was too great for me to do anything." As she pondered her options, she came to the conclusion she would very likely die. Finding herself forced to face eternity, Neal said she asked God for His will to be done.
"The moment I asked that, I was immediately overcome with this very physical sensation of being held and comforted and reassured that everything would be fine," she said. And this is where Neal's story takes a wild turn: she said she found herself in heaven.
"I never felt alive and then dead, conscious and then unconscious," Neal said. "I felt conscious and then more conscious, alive and then more alive." She added, "I was being held by Christ."

I died at 12 years of internal bleeding from a car accident. I have to say’ she’s 100% correct. I told family members & they didn’t believe me. So’ I stayed silent until years later. My memory of the experience has never faded.
And it never will fade. As you get older, it will become clearer.
She ------ is incorrect ----- wrong. No one ----- goes to heaven.
All go to the grave and all sleep in the grave until the resurrection. "No immortal soul" that goes to heaven or hell at death.
Hell ----- the grave.
The person who claims she went to heaven is either deluded or is lying. Probably ----- deluded. (Religiously ----- deluded.) In this case she is sincere but sincerely wrong. People go to the grave when they die. They do not have some magical ghost to that consciously goes to heaven (departs to heaven) when they die. Whether ----- say for five minutes or five hours.
She hallucinating when at Near Death. (To ie 90 to 99 percent dead.)
Her brain going haywire and produced (neurologically) extremely vivid ----- neural states that which produced extremely vivid and realistic dreams that which resulted in some sense of being "astrally" disconnected from the body. (Outside ----- of the body. A phenomenon produced by the brain-mind going neurologically haywire. Producing virtual reality sensations of being in a place of paradise or some place of distress or of suffering. (To ie the Christian's Mythical Hell.))

I work in an emergency room. We’ve had a child die, flat line no heartbeat - game over. The child’s father felt he should pray for the deceased child once more and the child’s heart began beating on the blank monitor again.
There is life after death!
I believe her. When I was in deep prayer I had an experience, and Heaven is real! Unfortunately, so is hell. It changed my life and I rarely talk about it because people call you "crazy".

My father had a NDE experienced after his heart bypass. His heart stopped during surgery and he saw his body from above the room. He saw the doctors operating on him. He went to heaven and saw and felt things that were indescribable. He felt immensed love and joy. Colors he saw did not exist on earth. He did not want to come back to his life here. He did not see God. When he came back to his body he shared with the family his experience. He shortly gave his life to Christ and always shared his experience in heaven. Several years after he passed away and I know he is with my mom and his siblings. I look forward to being reunited with them all and seeing Jesus face to face and hearing well done thou good and faithful servant.

My Mom had the same experience she heard the Surgeon and Doctors and Nurses and she was floating above the operation table and she told them and shocked them after she woke up. They had to stop her heart too and restart it.
I passed in a car accident 20 minutes and seen colors you don't see here too in Heaven . They let me come back. I seen the Angels fixing the car.

@@OverYou-tr5ok You make a good point, it should be more accurately termed "Died then Resurrected" or "Died, then Resuscitated". But NDE is the established vernacular, so we're stuck with it, however inaccurate it may be. Hopefully you understand despite the phrase's shortcomings.
I've been a Christian most of my life, and now I'm old and know that I will die any time soon. So it's wonderful to hear this woman's story. Thank you, Lord! ❤🙏

I saw the entrance of heaven ca 30 years ago, it was like a cristal flow windows and behind a incredible love & presence of God allmigthy, when I came back all here was like gray and cold, the other side is 1000x beautyful and amazing, I want to go back soon, Maranatha
I can so relate to Dr Neals story. I also experienced an NDE after a long surgery where I had complications. My transition to heaven was like the blink of an eye. I was surprised that I felt like same person, I was myself , minus the pain. I only felt intense peace and joy. I didn't see anyone or anything there except God who was clothed completely in a brilliant light, so i couldnt see Hus face, but I knew immediately who He was and I was so thrilled. We talked and talked, and I realized He was understanding me when i wasnt using my voice. I told Him i thought that was so cool! I remember I could feel how much He enjoyed me just being me. I felt so enveloped in pure love and joy that it was such a disappointment when He told me i had to go back. He said I had work to do on earth still. In the blink of an eye, I awoke while reciting the 23rd Psalm, a special verse that has become even dearer to my heart.

its amazing how every NDE story I have ever read or heard is essentially the same with minor differences but in the main the NDEs are so similar. I dont think the question for me is what is death like --- the question I feel strongly about every day is what are we each doing in life? How are making it [or not making it]? My life is a responsibility.

My grandmother had an NDE as a young wife and mother. She was pregnant and took a nap. She dreamed that she was climbing a circular staircase and Jesus himself greeted her at the top. In her dream she was elated to be in our Lord's presence and begged to walk through a door with him, but He replied that it was not her time and she needed to return to her family. When she woke up she was covered with blood and she miscarried her baby. My grandmother had a total of 7 children (suffering the loss of a daughter due to heatstroke) including my precious momma. Neither my brother nor I, nor several cousins would not exist had Jesus welcomed my grandma into Heaven that. Rest in Jesus Grandma Ruthie. I love and miss you. I'll see you soon ❤❤❤
Thing is for me it simply depends on which faith a person follows. NDE with Muslims is exactly what you'd expect, they encounter who & what they've been taught in their journey through Islam. It's the same with Jewish people they encounter prophets & patriarchs from the Torah. I'm thinking it's whatever & whoever you believe in & feel most comfortable with.

When I was 14 I died of an overdose, valium I found in the med. cab. 6 -7 hrs. Had passed before my family new something was wrong. They were muscle relaxers so my heart had stopped, when my neibor/freind got me to the hospital I was D.O.A. I remember being above the powerlines looking down on my body but there were no thoughts, I felt like a feather and could see, but I had no physical feeling, I didn't see no bright lights but I heard a peacful voice, and it said, "your going to live for a loooooong time". And then I was back in my body. Doctors didn't understand how I could have lived, but I know it was love, it was God!

You passed out by this med and you all most died. this can't be fooled by any one. i went through the same thing. any E/R knows this that passing out feels like dead and can make your brain mirror it self. Many take valume over doses and some have brain miroring efects from the brain trying to picture what is going on with it self. this with knowledgeable people know this very evidently. Being SDA Christian for 30 years as they believe i had a vision but did not but have a brain miroring effect .
This lady is a superb communicator. Loved her testimony! No wonder the Lord chose her for this experience - I pray she helps to bring many to faith ❤

My mom had a near death experience, i never noticed it changed her life, but I believed her and and went to church when a Sunday School asked me. I read the Bible through 3 times and have studied different sections over the last 40 years. I taught Sunday school for a while. I have done a few things, ive told others and given them a Bible if the seem the least bit interesting. Im still helping others and still wittnessing, and just turned 74 last month.
Your mum had the NDE in turn you listened and it encourage your soul to follow the lord he works in mysterious ways sometimes . Blessings ❤
My husband had a 2 near death experiences during cardiac arrest that were unforgettable (literally). He suffers severely from short term memory loss and can barely retain memories from the past 15 minutes. However, when he awoke from his coma and friends and family started coming to the hospital the first thing he said is…. Did I tell you that I died and went to Heaven? He tells us he walked up to the gates of heaven and was sent back to earth. Second he told us all about being able to see who came to see him and where we were sitting in his hospital room while he was in a coma for 2 days. He is a modern miracle after going without O2 to the brain for 30 minutes and being revived 3 times the short term memory loss is his only long term effect.
Im a retired NYC paramedic. I had a young gentleman who went into cardiac arrest as we were pulling into the ER bay. We defibrillated twice and got him back. He opened his eyes and the first thing he said was “ I saw Jesus “ My partner who was an atheist , in a mocking tone asked him “ does he look like the pictures out there ?” The patient said “no” “ He is beautiful “
I would never forget that call and I hope my partner found Jesus at the time of his passing last year. 6:01
You do not need to concern yourself with possible doubt or worry regarding your partner. Your partner never needed "to find" Jesus. Your partner was held in His right hand at the very moment of conception.

I’ve seen “Jesus” and can testify that he is just a creation (illusion) and does not exist on his own accord. ‘Something else’ creates both good and bad in the world and Jesus was created to be a tool for control. “He who loves me obeys my commands”. What do you think that means?

I so relate. I also had Stage 4 cancer and the Lord chose to heal me. 4 years later... no sign of it. I had no fear at all through that whole year of my treatment. It was wonderful to feel that sense of calm from knowing the Lord! Beautiful!! Blessings to you.... I don't think the good Dr. said anything about Jesus paying a sacrifice for our sins. I wish she had, but she skirted around that and never praised Jesus as the Lord of all.
I experienced a near death experience from surfing large waves at the Little Sunset break at Hollywood Beach, California. It was a large winter day with 8' high sets and I took off on a large steep wave and wiped out. I hit the water surface so hard that it blew the breath out of me. The wave picked me up and took me back up and over the falls and drove me deep underwater. As I was forcefully tossed and turned underwater I knew not to struggle or panic as I would use up what little oxygen and energy I had left. I eventually made my way to the surface to only find another larger set wave breaking just a few feet in front of me. I was only able to grab half a breath before that wave grabbed me and took me up and over the falls and pushed me even deeper under water. I was now extremely worried and was wondering if I had enough energy to make it to the surface. Just as I reached the surface another wave crashed down on me before I could even catch a breath. Like before it grabbed me and took me up it's back and then drove me deeper down than I had ever been before. I was out of oxygen and energy and did not know which way was up. I then had this incredible peace that came over me as I realized I had drowned. I then had the most profound experience in my life when I realized I was dead and yet I was still a conscious being and spirit with thought. I actually had a brief cosmic Zen chuckle and laugh at myself for ever doubting or thinking it was anything other then that. The gift I was given by God was the realization that we are all eternal beings and that when our earthly bodies drop away, we seamlessly continue on. I guess it was not my time to leave this earthly world yet. God had other plans for me. Being winter time I had a thick wetsuit on which caused my body to eventually rise to the surface. Another surfer who had witnessed my 3-wave hold down paddled his board over to me and pulled me onto the top of his board. He told me I was unconscious for 30 seconds before coming too. When I opened my eyes I was blind and had no vision and remember thinking I would be blind forever. After another 30 seconds I started to regain my vision. He paddled me back to the shore and laid me on the beach to recover. The spiritual experience left me in a state of true spiritual bliss for months afterwards and to this day, whenever I speak about it I get a profound sense of calm. JE aka Skip

Paul also said that he knew of a man who went to heaven and was commanded to never speak of it. This is unbiblical and adds to Scripture, which we are warned in the book of Revelation never to do.
God said, "I have given you every plant with seeds on the face of the earth and every tree that has fruit with seeds. This will be your food."

@@jesusislord1264 Actually, it's recorded in the Bible that several of GOD's people went to heaven and returned - not just Paul. And Jesus Himself made the trip back and forth - if you recall, or perhaps you've not read that far. I stand by my suggestion to "study to show thyself approved (by GOD)". Thank you Dr Neal for sharing your amazing testimony. I’m also a physician, in neuroscience, who had a radical change due a supernatural encounter with our Lord Jesus. Years later on my walk with the Lord, I had a heavenly encounter : I was caught up in my spirit and taken to heaven. The Lord took me to heaven, saw the cloud of witness at the entrance The people were standing and looking down to the earth. They were wearing white gown. Then I was taken to a room full of the small children. They were the unborn babies. Lord was showing me He is a God of redemption; restoring what was lost; restoring shame and condemnation. Our lives will be one day completely restored to the fullest in His glory with a glorified body. As Jesus said in Luke 21 :28- Look up and raise your heads because your redemption is drawing near. Hello All, I am quite moved by the NDE stories that I have been hearing after I lost my father-in-law, it feels amazing, as someone said ' no pain, no sadness, no confusion. Just love. Just home.' Coming back from death for me meant, immediately after getting back to my body, crying and sobbing uncontrollably. I was 19 at the time, and seeing from above the shallow and materialistic life that I led at the time, ignoring a God that loves us so much and with such compassion, made me cry for a long time. Realizing the banality of my life from above, was deeply, deeply painful. Coming back meant holding on to God’s hand, sometimes only to a finger, but never ever letting go, until I am called back to God’s bosom for good.

What bothers me about her testimony always is I don’t ever hear any need for salvation … not everyone will have this experience. It’s important to tell the world the truth. We must repent, accept salvation and surrender your life to Jesus. Be a living sacrifice. Be covered in the blood of Jesus. The work he did on the cross is not to be undersold. I completely agree. You have to receive Christ into your heart, repent of your sins, and acknowledge your need for a Saviour. Not everybody will be in Heaven. Jesus is the only way.

Yes, exactly 💯. Her testimony sounds like a New Age experience. The "spirit beings" could have been demons. Demons deceive. Any testimony that omits repentance and the need to receive Jesus as Savior is suspect.

Hold on a minute, if you will. A neurosurgeon also had his own NDE, he said the portion of the brain that would have been capable of producing such illusions had already passed the point of functionality, yet he saw, he experienced, etc. (similar experience). May I gently suggest that you might be interpreting the Bible in a wee too bit much of "finite" detail? That's why when we pray "...If it's in your will [not our own], it shall be done [not our own]. There are many verses in which the Bible makes it clear that God can change his mind.

You may never know this side of Heaven how you just blessed me with your testimony. I lost my son last June and he now is in Heaven. Holy Spirit led me all the way through his struggle and then him taking his own life. I know he is in Heaven I have been given a vision to see him there. What a great testimony and so well presented. At age 22 in church one day as I was singing, I was taken in the spirit. First, I saw eternity, then I was taken to heaven and stood before The Almighty. He told me to always give him the glory in life, then to have faith especially in tough times, then to have wisdom and discernment with people, to love the church and be thankful. He then showed me my future wife and told me that she will have talents and giftings different than mine and not to try to change her as she will compliment me. About 2.5 years later I went to a different church one night and sat down, she was right next to me. We became friends and I helped win her to Christ as she was just visiting the city and staying with relatives who went to the church. My sister was a terrible, spiteful, unloving, hurtful, selfish person…..her way or no way. She was brutally mean to our dying father.
Our Christianity was tested to the breaking point.
Then…. She had a LENGTHY NDE after surgery.
When she emerged from this to the profound shock of several doctors/surgeons etc. SHE WAS CHANGED!!! Not slightly changed….PROFOUNDLY CHANGED! It was as if CHRIST HIMSELF GOT HOLD OF HER AND SAID “NO MORE !” then sent her back to us.

I believe you and agree! I was like your sister before i got saved, i have no NDE but i was an atheist. But when i went to a Baptist Church and listened to the preachings, i submitted myself, repented, and accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. Now i am a living sacrifice to God. Her books are amazing and spoke directly to my soul and my experience. At 14 I contracted encephalitis and was in ICU for several days and my heart stopped a few times. I experienced so much of what others have but like many when I tried to tell my parents about it and even our Priest, I was told I was hallucinating and not to talk about it. Even though I saw my Great Grandmother whom I had never known of or met greeted me in the light and gently guided me and told me I had to come back, it wasn't my time yet.I wish the adults in my life would have been more understanding. Ironically they have all since passed and I am sure experienced what I did and beyond. We are all spiritual beings having a human experience and we just need to enjoy our time here and bring as much light and love into this world as we can while we are here. xo

I had my NDE when I was 26 & I have never forgotten it. I had an operation & everything that could go wrong went wrong. My parents were told to come & say goodbye. If this is what it's really like I can't wait to get there. My mother and father have both passed away , I hope this is what they're both experiencing now. The NDE from this lady sounds very real.
I died a month after having open heart surgery. I had a heart attack the month before and a stint was put in and then open heart surgery about a week later. A month later, my jaw was hurting again, being a woman, and went back into the hospital. Had to have another arteriogram and when the doctor injected the died, I screamed out, "My chest" and I was dead. It was that quick. Mine is the same feeling pretty much as hers but God let me see a little bit of everything. I woke up and I was in this total darkness, in which I believe this was outer darkness. I could hear this constant popping and cracking. I did not know at this point I was dead. I was saying to myself, in my mind, "What is that?" Then, I know it is when my spirit seperated from this clay body. I then was saying to myself, " I am dead!" over and over agin. I was not afraid. Then, I was like in the portal of heaven. I had an angel on my right side. I did not ever look at him, but I knew he was right there with me. I did not know how I had died, but I was at this point worried about my family. I screamed out, "Wait, wait, please wait. My family will be devestated." Then I heard this stern but loving voice say, "It will be fine." I'm like, "ok." I proceded and saw angel wings taller than trees. They were so beautiful. They were worshiping the Lord and it was so beautiful. I had tingles all over my body and just felt as she said, "glorified." Something I had never experienced in this life and won't until I die again. It does not hurt to die. I worried about it as a child. You may hurt from what your dying from but once you actually die, it is the most beautiful experience if you know the Lord Jesus Christ. He healed me from my Daddy's death. It was amazing. I was so depressed because the Lord told me it was not yet my time. This happened to me on April 29, 2015. Jesus is real folks. I already knew it but if you don't, he is real and so is hell!

I didn't die, but I've had 3 experiences where I've been visited by my personal Guardian Angel, once in a dream, twice in reality (I was awake) and I know it's the same angel. So I have the same guardian, they don't change. I know I remember being in heaven before I was born, which often comes back to me when I sleep. I met a boy there, and we played, but I left, and then when I found him in real life again, I was nearly 20 years older. He and I will be mates again I'm sure; I love these stories. I want to go home so badly.

May I ask you a question? My mother had an NDE and only shared it several years after having it. It was during my birth. I couldn't understand why she seemed to "hide" this marvelous experience. So can you or any one of you who has had an NDE..why do you all feel isolated? Are you afraid you won't be believed? I think it is such an honor to have such a life altering, spiritually altering experience of this magnitude. Why care what anybody thinks? You were with the Lord in His mercy and grace. It is always better when people tell their story without interruption. The interviewer adds very little but only disrupts the flow of the story.
This is the NDE I relate to most as I also had a kayaking accident 20 years ago and had what I would call a mini NDE. Long story short I got caught in a swell in the river and it flipped my kayak over. I tried many times to pull the release cord to set me free but to no avail. Suddenly a tremendous peace came over me and I knew no matter what happend Iwas going to be just fine. The next thing I knew I was sitting on the shore and I had a separated shoulder. I have no idea how I separated my shoulder or how I got on the shore.

"Bad people" is a human concept. We are so much more.
One of my death experiences was a drowning at 5years old. Same sort of experience at death as you speak of except, i consciously decided to breath in the sand and water at the lake bottom. Then i was so free and happy that i wished i had decided to breath in the water sooner instead of fighting drowning. Two angels stayed with me as i played in the water and a third angel went to get help and guide a ladies hand down in the water and sand to find my hair and pull me up and out. I listened to her and watched her get the water out of my body and make me start breathing again.

I had nde in 74. She's correct about no unconsciousness. I was conscious from every moment. My difference was a time difference occurred and I was helped by another, I call angel now. I was greatly helped. No fear of death, and know how important it is my kids are spiritually taken care of before I go, not the wealth.

I had a near death experience. I believe in God but I'm not Christian because I know it's a messed up book written by men. You can believe in God without dogma.
@@darith770I have a plant based diet because I know it's the right thing to do. Not because that messed up book told me to. With this logic you should also have slaves. God of the Bible says that's okay too and also tells people how to hurt them properly. You can believe in God without that book.
My son killed himself on October 23, 2021 by jumping off an enormous bridge in our area. We were devastated. He suffered with mental illness for decades before that. On August 13, 2022 I heard from him with a simple message of ‘Mom’. I made a note on my calendar at the time. Later I realized that that was my Dad’s 105th birthday. My son told me several times before he died that he missed his grandaddy. I’m looking forward to Heaven. I’ve been listening to a lot of NDE’s because I want to know about the place that he lives.

I died. I had this feeling right before I went i to the hospital to get my labor induced that I needed to Repent. So I did. I couldn't shake this feeling, What if I die?! I repented for every sin I could think of all day. Then I said, Lord I can't think of anymore so please remind me so I can repent. Memories would come and soon there was no more. I thought ok Lord If I should die then since I've repented Im gonna trust you with the rest of what I don't know. So fast forward...Baby was breach and my body was shutting down, I just couldn't take the pain anymore. I flatlined...I heard the docter say, We're losing her, We're losing her!! I heard my heart monitor flatline snd then I began to drift. I was over my body and I had been taught you dont look back so I faced the ceiling. Since I'd never died I wasn't sure what to expect so I closed my eyes and went through the roof into this golden tunnel. I opened my eyes and like lightening shot through that tunnel of golden light and suddenly found myself laying in Gods hands. They were bigger than a King Sized Bed! I looked down and saw my pregnant belly and thought wow! Im still pregnant! The Lord and I talked to each other in our minds. I couldn't see Gods face because it was all light, light was so bright and no shadows. He showed me a picture of my daughter that was waiting at home and he said, You can stay if you want to but, if you do, she will have no one. I was so sad then remembering my little daughter and he'd showed me a picture of her in a stained shirt. This shirt I cried over because our life was so bad then because my first husband was an abusive drunk. I really wanted to stay and even thought about taking God up on his offer but I said instead Lord, I want to please you Lord. I was basically asking him what he wanted me to do. He then turned his hand over of which I was sticking to and threw me back into my body. I felt like I landed in a shoe. I had been so warm in Gods hand but then felt my body's coldness. That motion actually hurt, being thrown lile that was what jarred my heart into beating again and I gasped. Then I heard my heart monitor come back beep...beep. They had put a black air mask on me and the nurse was holding it hard on my face and I was fighting it. She demanded of me, Breathe! I was like ok. In out, in out. Then once my new daughter was delivered I told the nurse in wander, I said, I was here, then I was there, pointing ☝️. Better repent before ya die. This lady's near death sounds like she's under demonic influence. Heavens real. Ive been to heaven since that experience and saw that the new earth was so beautiful. I also saw my garden of flowers of gladiolus were like 6 ft tall and every stalk had different colored flowers on each stalk. I wasn't shown anything else because the rest is a surprise for us all. Trust in Jesus. Repent be baptized and live for him and get to work for him and spread the gospel. Shalom.

I watched the RUclips preview before seeing this video. No one ever speaks to the fact that you need to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior in order to even qualify to go to heaven. I just don't get this. Why doesn't the interviewer from "Christian" Broadcasting Network ask this? How did this experience affect her relationship with Jesus and the importance of knowing Him. It just seems like this would be the most important message Jesus would want people to bring back to a dying and unbelieving world.
And you know she hasn't, HOW?

I loved her story, unfortunately they did not even mention Jesus. How can she talk about this experience to others without mentioning how critical it;s to receive Jesus as a savor. There is nothing more important than to make sure people are aware they most know and accept Jesus as their Lord and savor .
She says she was held by Jesus at beginning of her story. And 3 or 4 more times in her story.

Jesus is not your lord and saviour. You are. We are all sons and daughters of god. Responsible for your own soul.
What she is saying does not line up with what the Bible teaches. The only way to heaven is through the blood of Jesus Christ. She stated that she asked God to have his way. But that is not believing the gospel. Romans chapter 10 tells us that we are saved when we confess with our mouths the Lord Jesus and believe in our heart that God has raised him from the dead. There is no salvation without coming to Jesus. I am surprised that CBN would promote this.

[8] But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”-that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, [9] that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; [10] for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

@@elfyfox8468But she never said that she believed on Jesus. She never talked about coming to Jesus as her Savior. John 3:16 tells us that we receive eternal life by believing on the Son. She never stated that she believed on Jesus.

Dr. Neal did my lower back fusion in 2017. I had read her book before. Then when I went to my appt in Jackson I noticed her name and recognized her from her book.
Very kind down to earth woman and surgeon. Have to say I felt pretty safe having her do my back surgery.
She is so authentic. I disregard a lot of these stories but somehow this one rings true
