      So u basecly mean that every ancient empire are assyrian? Why do u steal history i dont get it, why do u claim Sumerians and babylonians to be blood related to assyrians? That is a lie and its wrong. Sumerians where an empire long before assyrians invaded theyr homeland, assyrians migrated from africa and were a semitic speaking people. Assyrians basecly massacred sumerians and made kurds ancestors run to north of mesopotamia for protection. Assyria was one of the most powerful empires of the ancient world, dominating the Near East from the 25th century BC until its fall in 609 BC. Known for its military might, sophisticated administration, and grand architecture, Assyria played a crucial role in shaping the history of the ancient Middle East. Its capital cities, such as Ashur and Nineveh, were cultural and economic hubs, featuring impressive palaces, temples, and one of the earliest known libraries, which housed a vast collection of cuneiform texts. Assyria's influence extended across vast regions, including modern-day Iraq, Syria, Turkey, and Iran.

    The concept of a “genocide” is a modern western concept that the Assyrians would never have known or espoused. I would say that about “extermination” as well. I’d say what the ancient Hebrews did to their Semitic neighbors and the Roman obliteration of the Carthaginians were pretty close to ethnic cleansing or extermination in antiquity. The Assyrians were def a powerful, and at times ruthless, military oligarchy - I would think of them as the Spartans of the Middle East (interestingly the Assyrians passed on artistic, architectural, and symbolic RT ideas to nearly every power that arose after them, where as the Spartans passed on………war? Dumping infants who are deemed “militaristically weak” down ravines and rocket valleys [Nazi Germany: “Hey! We liked that!”]). The Persians would inherit a lot from the Assyrians and the Babylonians as well as blending that with their culture - and neighboring cultures - on the Iranian plateau.

      First professional military was made by the Assyrians and the first people to officially claim an empire also were the Assyrians, from Egypt to armenia and stops at arabia, Assyrians conquered the area of 8 countries today, and parts of turkey and persia, not bad for the first Empire in history.

    • @HistorywithCy
      @HistorywithCy  5 лет назад +3

      For first superpower, that's difficult. I think that one could argue either the Akkadian or Neo-Sumerian. Many scholars would say Akkadian because it was technically the first empire but this is hard to conclusively confirm. Sargon and Naram-Sin may have campaigned a lot and also claimed to have subjugated many territories, but by all of the revolts, it doesn't seem to have been very stable...not sure if that would give it superpower status. Neo-Sumerian under Shulgi seems to have been a bit more stable.
      The Neo-Assyrian empire at its height was definitely more powerful than the first two and I'd say first real superpower in the way we define the term today. After that, the Persian Empire due to the Achaemenids conquering more territories in Central Asia and small parts of Europe.
      Just my opinion...

These people are all cited to live long lives. This would def get godlike status from their offspring. Assyria's ancient name is Assur. In our vedic literature the term 'Assur' is used for the people who are selfish and of evil characters.

      @@HistorywithCy Well, if you want to know the true meaning of Vedas then read the translation done by Dayanand Saraswati. Arya Samaj is the organisation which promotes the true spirit of vedic monotheism and has franchisee in many countries. European scholars like max Mueller and william jones has done false and distorted commentaries on vedas and made it looks like nature worship. Vedas lays emphasis on worship of a single God, it prohibits idolatry and nature worship.

    I think Assyrians and Akkadian are one people, the only differences that the power was changed from Akkad to Assur . Assyrians are the only one to claim Akkadian were their ancestors, the only one who had the same kings name .

    • @HistorywithCy
      @HistorywithCy  4 года назад +2

      Thanks for the comment. I think that is true although some scholars are perplexed by some Hurrian-sounding names of several of the earlier kings in the king list... whether this means that they were Akkadians with Hurrian names or Hurrians who were ruling Ashur at the time is the mystery they're trying to solve. But agree with you, at least from most inscriptions, they were an Akkadian speaking people with a distinct dialect of the language.

    Sorry to disagree, but Assyrian aggression had noting to do with Genocide. They always gave their opponents an opportunity to surrender. Their forced Diasporas of conquered peoples were meant to distribute technologies and artistic styles throughout the Empire. Resettlement costs were borne by the State, and local religions were tolerated throughout the Empire.
    That being said, I would not like it if Assyrians were mad at me. Like many Ancient peoples, I would have invited them over for a visit whenever they were in the neighborhood. It's just enlightened self-interest.
