That pouring rain is referrred to as the Monsoon. It "s season starts in July and ends in Sept/Oct.

On the news last night they talked about flooding, big thunderstorms in Vegas yesterday. First person I thought of was you Jacob lol.
Great tour of Fremont Street! It's sad to see the decline. I doubt I'll ever get to Vegas so this is just as good. Tell Jenny if she ever gets to Michigan, she can have a fish spa experience again at the Reptarium in Utica MI. A great reptile experience with the Legacy Aquarium being built across the street. I have a friend who lives in Phoenix, and they had a big storm come through there 2 nights ago. It really tore things up. Lots of flooding, trees down and branches all over the place. The storm moved north and apparently we went through Las Vegas!
I believe it's part of the monsoonal moisture that the southwest gets during this time of year.

Yes the storm in AZ was bad! Lost patio furniture and had many things break. Still need to repot my biggest plant.
It came through Tucson and we had a lot of damage to trees etc. Hail and heavy winds and rains....this monsoon season has been very damaging.
Phoenix needs more of that rain! And cooler weather also

Not an electrician either but pretty sure those were probably transformers blowing on that electric pole. They step down higher voltages to the level that homes and businesses use.
Unlikely that those were transformers; would have been a much bigger flash and a whole lot louder. The “explosions” were probably fuses in the cutouts for pad mount transformer feeds.
I'm enjoying your Vegas trip! There is a place out there where they have all the old neon signs together in a big lot. It's amazing to see. If you like those signs, you should try to go there; you won't be sorry you did. And I enjoy traveling with you each day. Keep up the good work!

All these people saying it rarely rains have never been thru a monsoon season here in Vegas. This is pretty normal here just in May this year we've had rain. This is good becuase we need it for our man made lake.

Also, you should check out the pinball Museum. You can actually play the machines inside. Everyone really likes it when they go there. It’s just across from the Las Vegas sign next to Harley.
I wonder if, over time, those false ceilings could collapse during a severe weather event? I'd have to find a cozy spot inside to sit it out. I loved the fish-foot spa; it looks really neat!

Thanks for the tour of the off strip and outside the Fremont experience. I have been to Las Vegas several times but never explored other than the strip and the Fremont experience. It is sad to see so many of the old motels closed. But with the big shiny newer resorts no one wants to stay in an old fashion motel where the only thing they had was a pool and TV. However if someone took the time to update one it might do well since those newer casino hotels cost so much and add fees to your bill and now are even charging for parking. As much as I liked Las Vegas in the past I doubt I will ever visit again. I live in Pennsylvania and between my state and the surrounding ones we have plenty of casinos to choose from that do not require me to even stay overnight.

Hey Jacob! I've been to Dick's Last Resort when it was in The Mall Of America. You'd have fun and they do a good job of keeping the teasing humorous and not mean.
The Plaza and the Carousel Bar remind me of Biff's Pleasure Palace from BACK TO THE FUTURE PART II. 😉👍

There's a similar restaurant to Dick's Last Resort in Chicago - Ed Debevic's, which opened up in the last year or so after closing ages ago. There was even a Dick's that was at the Marina Towers, but closed up.

Wow, that was some rain! Hopefully, that rain made it not as hot, yes now that I remember the weather guy said we were hotter than Vegas yesterday. Oh yes, I am just loving this heat dome again, but hopefully, next week, they say it will be a little cooler for my Kansas state fair! Tell Jenn I am so jealous she got to have the fishes nibble on her toes. That is soooo cool. I love the ol neon too it is an art that is fading way.

Cannot wait to get to Vegas again and then move there. I laughed seeing the dripping behind you when you were at the pizza place, so much rain so many places are flooding or having issues with their roofs.
If you are looking to experience some of the old family style of Vegas go to circus circus, it has a full amusement park with about a dozen or so rides, carnival games and full on circus acts, the circus acts and amusement park are in two different areas of the casino so make sure you see them both.

For a variety of reasons, I'm not able/don't want to visit Vegas right now, but I'd like to some time. It's a shame that those smaller hotel/motels were closed down, it does look very humble yet unique, by comparison to the main part of Vegas.
The power transformers are full of oil to keep them cool. Water gets into them. The power shorts.....blam!!!! We had ice storms here in the past. The transformers blowing up was like lightning ⚡⚡⚡⚡

You should go to the neon boneyard. The sphere is better at night maybe go to Ellis Island for barbecue a little gambling it’s a local place and see the sphere. There’s also Pioneer saloon in Jean Nevada not too far away.

I remember being in Vegas when it flood couple years back. And riding the bus from my grandparents who lived by the high school. All the way to the strip. Sunny at first.. then it boom and didn’t let up for days. What a night mare. Now here I am in southern Utah and it’s freakin worse. Can’t win them all hun. 😂
