- For today's spotlight, I talk about an incredible all female metal band from Japan, LOVEBITES! Beginning in 2016, they've released four albums through Victor Entertainment, with their fifth, "Lovebites EP II" coming out this August!
Consisting of lead vocalist ASAMI, guitarists MIDORI and MIYAKO, bassist FAMI, and drummer HARUNA, Lovebites hits you with an amazing all out IRON MAIDEN inspired rock assault that will leave you begging for more! I've been listening to metal for 5 decades and Lovebites has unsurpassed musicianship. Midori & Miyako are among the best duos I've heard ever. I would put them up against anybody.
I found them 5 years ago. They instantly became my favorite band. They do all styles of rock and metal.
Some influences seem obvious, but they always put their own unique spin on their songs.
There is only one Asami, she is "the one and only voice". Her vocals are instantly recognizable.

Yes, Lovebites is a mind-blowing heavy metal band. These women are extremely talented, skillful and extraordinary musicians. Some people say that brutality has never been so gorgeous or that they’re breaking the walls of stereotypes in the metal scene. Since four years ago they’ve been my all-time favorite rock/metal band
I've seen Babymetal, Nemophila, and Hanabie perform live. I have tickets to see Lovebites in San Francisco on September 12th. They are insanely talented. The female rock/metal scene in Japan is on fire! 🔥

Great intro to the band ! Lovebites will release their 4th EP on August 28 which contains 5 new tracks. They have 4 studio LPs so far, the latest and most current being "Judgement Day". Personally, my current fav Lovebites track is "Soldier Stands Solitarily" from their latest LP. As part of their world tour this year, the ladies are presently tearing up Europe to mostly sold-out concerts/music festivals, and they'll be touring the US in September with 4 shows currently confirmed.
nice rundown on the ladies of LOVEBITES. i was a huge fan of the band DESTROSE - the former group that original bassist miho and drummer haruna were part of. they disbanded in 2015 and miho announced the new band LOVEBITES in late 2016 with haruna. they got the 2 awesome shredders midori and miyako and recruited vocalist asami after hearing her demo a few tunes including ' love bites and so do i ' by halestorm. now you know where they got their name. this band has put out nothing but gold in 7 years. miho unfortunately left the band in aug of '21 but her replacement fami is of the highest quality and brings nothing but huge smiles and energy to the best metal band on the planet.

Amazing band! Just been on their show in Belgium and my 18 years old daughter enjoyed immensely as well. For my liking, Holy War is incredible song, but personal favorite is Unbroken!
Thanks for introducing Lovebites to, hopefully, a new audience. I’m already a big fan and saw them play live twice very recently in London. Such talented musicians and Miyako is also a highly respected pianist, check out ‘Swan Song with the Chopin intro’, to see her play the grand piano. They are some of the best Japan has to offer in metal. From 🇬🇧
Hey Brian, great artist to put a spotlight on and they happen to be my favorite metal band and favorite band in general. Haruna is the greatest drummer alive imo and M&M are my favorite guitar duo. I love the combination of classic thrash and power metal with symphonic/classical elements, like the intro to Glory To The World that you played. The album Judgement Day is up there with Master of Puppets, Rust In Peace, and Painkiller as one of the greatest thrash albums of all time, to me at least, and Break The Wall is probably my favorite song of all time cuz it's as close to a perfect song that I've heard as far as song structure and chord progressions, and despite being fast and heavy it's also beautiful at the same time. It seems like the Japanese bands enjoy themselves onstage more than a lot of western bands and they also have a lot of uplifting songs like Rising and We The United with great messages in the lyrics.

Love them? They are my favorite band hands down! I was a huge Iron Maiden fan til these ladies came along. Another band I love and is on the top of my Hard Rock list is Whiskey Dust and yes, hey are from Japan but they take me back to the 80's Sunset Strip with GNR and Van Halen and Motley Crue. Highly recommend you check them out!

being a drummer and keyboard/piano player I love Swan Song 2020 Five of a Kind with Chopin Intro, La Campanella, Break the wall (drums) Helloween cover with every member solo also Miyako also covers Helloween on Eagle Fly Free also. being a huge Deep Purple fan I loved her cover on her solo EP EtudeOp23. and Far and beyond the sun Yngwie Cover. also as a band the have covered 2 other songs besides Helloween Judas Priest Painkiller (I loved this cover) and Lzzy Hale's Love Bites (So Do I) the song they actually named the band after No not Def Lappard or Judas Priest

It's hard for me to decide on a favorite song because LOVEBITES has too many great songs! 🤔Based on my musical tastes, I can highlight the “Best of the Best”:
'Dystopia Symphony', 'Lost in the Garden', 'The Final Collision', 'Puppet on Strings', 'We Are the Resurrection', 'Warning Shot', 'The Awakening'&'The Hammer of Wrath', 'Winds of Transylvania', 'Paranoia', 'Bravehearted', 'Set the World on Fire', 'Rising', 'Thunder Vengeance', 'Epilogue', 'Addicted'.
The major problem with Lovebites it's I have 50 favorite songs out of the 60 they made.

@@Captain_Kirk116 Haruna's drumming in 'Lost in the Garden' is very good. For me, the song 'Lost in the Garden' has value because it has the influence of classical music. That's why this song is at the top of my personal hit parade of LOVEBITES songs, after 'Dystopia Symphony', which also has a very noticeable influence of classical music. When I first heard 'Lost in the Garden' during the presentation of the Album 'Judgement Day' (February 2023), the names of Paganini and Mozart immediately appeared in my head. When performing a solo, Midori's guitar sounds like a violin. Next comes the piano part, which has the vibe of Mozart's music. Only Mozart could use a clavier or harpsichord instead of a piano.
I think that the association I had with these two great names after first listening to 'Lost in the Garden' was not accidental. During the Tour, at concerts, before performing 'Lost in the Garden', Miyako played 'La Campanella' by Niccolo Paganini.
@@GrayFox14 We all have this problem! But it's funny, you've left out all the obvious choices in your list. Okay, you've said "based on my musical taste", but this seemed to be intentional, I would have expected at least one of the following songs:
"Holy War" (this one is strange, I don't consider it as one of the best songs, but it's an AllForOne song, a multi talented song),
"Edge Of The World", "Swan Song (with Chopin intro)", "A Frozen Serenade", "Shadowmaker", (you had "Rising"), "Break The Wall". Also do not underestimate early "Liar", "Don't Bite The Dust", and "The Crusade". Damn, it's so difficult, I want to name so many more! And then, there's "Soldier Stands Solitarily", the very last song before the next releast. I saw, you've mentioned "Lost In The Garden", great!. The "Judgement Day" LP still has to grow. "Glory To The World" and "We The United" are mentioned in the reaction!
Lovebites has become my favorite band, not just metal, not just female. At age 75, I've been into various genres of music since childhood in late 1950s. Lovebites is spectacular in every way, technically amazing, melodic, creative, amazingly talented. I can't name one favorite song, as the band has composed, produced well over 60 great songs, probably over 70. They're extremely productive. If metal and rock fans have not heard Lovebites, I urge listening. Their white dress, feminine beauty is what they are as women, but how they play is astonishing.
The best heavy metal band on the planet currently, by far. I’m a fan from autumn 2017 and thankfully I saw them live in Milan at 19 June at Legend Club and it was the best live experience ever.
They are impeccable, flawlessly perfect.
I only listen to LOVEBITES because all their songs have melody and in English and they combined Metal + Classical sounds. Everything in this Universe is Harmonics of Frequencies and that is how I summarized their music.

Friend, they've won me over for a long time. I've been listening to heavy metal since 1975 and I was already tired of the same old bands with the same old songs. They are a breath of quality, good taste and renewed energy in this world of rock.
LOVEBITES. They are listened not only by metalheads. Ladies came out of their metal genre and have wider spectrum of fans.
They play Eclectic Metal. It means they blend as the first band in history all kind of metal mainly power and thrash with NWOBHM,
heavy metal, symphonic metal, speed metal,hair metal, hard rock, rock, rock'n'roll, jazz, progressive pieces, funk and even punk. They mix all with classical music using operatic, R&B, soul and gospel skills of vocalist and grand piano and Spanish guitar skills playing. Sometimes they use typical Japanese melodic lines which are included in ENKAs_ melancholy ballads singing by Japanese women. Only their can do it. Obviously they draw a lot from British, German and American metal. All this makes their style unique.

It is great to see that the amazing japanese ladies rock and metal scene is little by little gaining awareness and recognition in the West, thanks for participating in that! Lovebites is one of the easiest one as they tour Europe and US and sing in english (at least try!). I have seen them live in Europe back in 2018 and 2 times last June, I was amazed how the band has improved and gained stage energy since 2018, thanks to new and younger bassist Fami. Those ladies are amazing, but I want to point out there are dozens of other amazing ladies metal and rock bands out there, Japan is probably the only country in the world currently with a real and very vivid all-ladies rock scene, and all those ladies have the energy and enthusiasm there has been in the US or UK rock scenes back in the 60's-70's, the ladies charm and asian smiles in bonus. Once you started listening to them, it is difficult to come back to western nowadays bands!
I love them i went to see them last june in Paris 🇨🇵, they're on fire on this small venue. You can talk about their cousin also from Japan Call BRIDEAR. born in 2011 in Fukuoka. They've realese on the 28 of june BORN AGAIN

Just to clarify, of the three clips you showed, only the last one We the United showed Fami on the bass. The previous bassist Miho was in the Glory to the World and Rising clips.
Lovebites are extraordinary. they have completely reinvigorated my love of metal. nice job on the video but i wish you would have put in some piano parts considering they have a virtuoso level piano player in the band. also showing some slower parts would have been nice since they have lots of dynamics in their music

You pronouced their names alright except for Miyako. English is the only language that pronounce "I" as rise or mine. It should be pronouced as inn of Italy, not like Iowa..

@@TheVIPSoundcheck01 Miyako is hard for English speakers, because it has "i" and "a" with the vovel shift. How would you pronounce "Italia" (not an English word)? It's pretty much the same for "Miyako" ("ow", not "ugh"). (IMHO)
