I used to watch The Partridge Family when I was a kid. My favorite song was "I Think I Love You". I've heard grown adults sing this song and they remember every word. I still remember every word. Once you start singing it, people join in.
The TV series was entertaining with a song and a message each episode commonly fitting the story theme. It was scheduled next to "The Brady Bunch" for a hour of family TV entertainment. I created my first audio cassette tapes using Partridge Family music that played while I created commentary. I added in TV game shows, easily recorded by cassette player directly. We already knew Shirley Jones from musicals like "Oklahoma". David Cassidy provided lead vocals. Other music provided by studio musicians, something I realized when reading the album for that detail. Suggested Next Songs (Same album) "Point Me in the Direction of Albuquerque" (heart warming lost child story song) "Only a Moment Ago" (everyone has experienced this!) "I Really Want to Know You" (most beautiful love song I have ever heard)
I recommend another two little-known songs but with great quality, " I can feel your heartbeat " and " I'll meet you halfway , just like these The Partridge Family songs, there are many of very good quality.
What a great song, just fills you with good feeling. The Partridge Family was indeed a hit TV show, but also a band backed by L.A.'s The Wrecking Crew and also a family. When the producers discovered David could sing, he joined stepmother Shirley on the albums and later toured the world solo.
LOL! Favorite song in 2nd grade - haven't heard it forever and could still sing every lyric. It is cool to see you love'n it - there actually are some cool bars and good musicianship. I watched the Partridge Family religiously and since I have red hair I had a crush on Danny, the bass player. Thanks for the reaction!
David Cassidy, who was Shirley Jones's stepson, had a very soulful singing voice. At the time, I was too young to appreciate what a good singer he was. Yes, the show was silly, but David had the desire to be taken seriously as a singer. We lost a good one when David passed away.
Enjoyed both The Partridge Family and The Monkees TV shows back then. Shirley Jones was a great singer in musicals and David Cassidy was the Justin Beiber of his day. Think "I Think I Love You" was their big hit. The Cowsills were really good as well.
The only real musicians in the fictional Partridge Family were the mother and David Cassidy. They sang their parts while the rest were studio musicians. The mother Shirley Jones was a co-star in the musical 'Carousel'. The Partridge Family was based on the real-life 'The Cowsills'. In The Cowsills, the mom and her 6 kids performed. They had several hits, especially two- 'The Rain, the Park, and other things'. Also 'Hair', which was in the musical 'Hair'. Those are two good songs to react to!
I loved The Partridge Family and I had a huge crush on David Cassidy!💕💕 I started college in 1981 and by then they were passé, just a kids show from our past, so I kept a low profile on the fact that I still had all their albums. My freshman year I was in my room one evening (I think it was a Friday or Saturday) when I heard one of their songs blaring from a room at the other end of the hall. Pretty soon a group of us was in that room, singing along to the album. I think everyone knew all the words. That was an unexpected delight and a fond memory. If you keep a list of Christmas song suggestions, I would recommend two songs from their Christmas album. One is “My Christmas Card to You”, which was a PF original that I still really like. The other is “Blue Christmas”, an older song that has been covered many times, most famously by Elvis Presley. I think David Cassidy sings it better than anyone, partly because I just love his voice but also because he actually sounds like he means what he’s saying. Maybe you could listen to the Elvis version first and then the PF’s version and see what you and your viewers think. Thanks for your reaction to this song. I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Now you should check out David’s step brother Shaun Cassidy. He’s still out there touring (and the concert is very good- he has great stories of growing up in the crazy world of the mid-late 70s), and is also a producer of many TV shows. His mom is Shirley Jones.
David Cassidy was my first love at 11 or 12. Great TV show, beautiful, non threatening teen idol-perfect for a young girl. I didn't appreciate what a wonderful voice he had until my 50's-lol. This song doesn't showcase it very well-kind of poppy and teen oriented but he did have a incredible voice. I think "Could it be forever" and "How can I be sure" are much better choices. Also-Cherish. BTW-he hated this type of music. He was into rock but this show shoved him into teen idol hood and he could not turn it around. The "machine" he was in tore him up.
Thanks for reacting to this song!! One of my favorites! It’s nice to see the younger generation enjoying songs from yesteryear!!
Brown Eyes is my favorite from The Partridge Fam...would be worth a listen 😊

I THINK I LOVE YOU is another great song

file the partridge family under "feel good music".

Session musicians were the tops in the business as were the songwriters. Top notch bubblegum pop.

Definitely check out "Hair"!😊

Ha, I remember watching the TV show, definitely Bubble gum pop
You should also check out the Cowsills. They are a real family of siblings and their mother. (I think the Partridge Family was based on the Cowsills)
In real life, Shirley Jones was David Cassidy's step mother. She was married to David's father Jack Cassidy who died in a famous Las Vegas Hotel fire.
Nice deep cut by the other PF. :)
"I Think I Love You" was a pretty big hit but David Cassidy hated singing these and wanted to sing his own material.
