His ability to go through the ranges was spectacular, from the softest whisper to the harshest rock-roar. An undeniably great singer.
How often do you see a songwriter get the prominent mention on an album cover? Still amazed that it took 2 1/2 years for Meatloaf and Steinman to find a label willing to produce this album.

Hi Maggie, the girl u see in this video and in the paradise one is Karla Devito. She toured with meatloaf from 1977 - 1980. Patti Russo didn’t start with him until the 1990’s. Karla did lip sync on the official paradise video to the original singer on the album Ellen Foley, who never toured. They did this to make the video sound the same as the record. But Karla did sing live on tour. There is a concert from 1978 “live in Rockoplast” Germany (1:44m long) that shows Karla actually singing. Great live versions of these songs and there is also an interview at the end with meat and Jim steinman the composer and piano player.
Just FYI, that was Todd Rundgren on those amazing guitar rifts, including the motorcycle sound. Even some experienced Harley riders couldn't believe it. The piano is Jim Steinman, the writer and composer of the song. Then go back and listen to individual songs or videos. It is important that you get the entire mental play in your head first, before you nosedive into individual songs.

He put his all into his performance, and they often had to give him oxygen on stage (not sure if it was for real or just theatrical). Great move by bringing in the intro separately. What a beginning, and it shows the kind of power you're in for with the rest of the song. I found Meat Loaf far to late. Really enjoy watching the videos of him. The show they did in 1999 at the Hard Rock Cafe is the greatest. Your right he's one of the few you can understand 99 percent of what he says. He had such a hard life. Guitar for motorcycle, shows it in one of videos of his life.
@justanotherveganonyoutube710 yeah don't get me wrong, JB is amazing, and I expect him to surprise everyone with some serious dramatic acting (like Robin Williams). Comedy is more challenging than drama. It's just a shame Meatloaf was never taken seriously as an actor. Totally overlooked and underutilized.
Bat Out of Hell and the first Boston album were the musical theme of my High School years. The writing and musicianship on both albums were incredible. Only way to truly appreciate them is in the car, roaring down a back road with the cassette deck cranked up to just below the clipping point.
Summer of '77 ,I was on a foster group home ranch, owned 1 of the 8 horses on that ranch and stayed 2 years! A very magical time for me! THANK YOU MAGGIE FOR THIS REVIEW! CRYING AS I WRITE THIS!
If you thought bar out of hell was good then I suggest you listen to meatloaf’s song “For crying out loud” truly epic talent and such a beautiful song. Definitely one worthy of a video
Seeing him live was almost a religious experience, bikers with tears welling up, women with upturned faces streaked with tears, jumping along to the piano carnival, 🎶staggered by a throbing guitar Aug 30, 1978 with Eddie Money at the Merriweather Post Pavilion Columbia, Maryland.🎸🎼🎵 This was the night after seeing the Doobie Brothers at the same venue.😎 I was 11 years old with my Mom, and her friend, and her 13 year old redheaded daughter Cherry Lynn in a VW camper bus.💘 Got stoned, frenched, and 2nd base, all it cost me was my heart. 💋 The concerts were Tuesday and Wednesday and Friday they left for a job in LA never to be seen by me again.💔
That motorcycle sound is actually an electric guitar sound effect, it’s good though. I watched a video about music these days that explained because everything is edited on computers they do something in the editing process that compresses the db which means the instruments all blend together and nothing actually stands out, in the old days they recorded everything rough and raw which gave the sound a more dynamic depth, so technology and laziness have in part ruined music.
What I most love about this is that THIS is the very first song on the very first album that Meat Loaf ever did. And it starts with a hard rock orchestral intro.
And he did it all with asthma! Check Meat out singing the National anthem before a ballgame. I think it wa s in '94 or '95. I first heard it a couple of years ago and it blew me away! You have a new sub!
Like a Bat out of Hell.. Enough said, master peace on every level.. Todd Rundgren on guitar is epic as well very accomplished before and post Bat out of Hell. He did the motorcycle sounds as well, in one take also.

Its probably been mentioned many times but the pianist is Roy Bittan from Springsteen's E Street Band. Max Weinberg was the drummer. The two of them were on most of Jim Steinman's compositions, recording with artists including Bonnie Tyler and Air Supply.
There was a special on the making of Bat Out Of Hell. Todd Rundgren did not want to include the motorcycle sound but Jim Steinman insisted and as Steinman said, Rundgren twisted a few knobs on his guitar and produced the motorcycle sound
This man was always owned my heart since I discovered his music in the 80's. When we lost him he still lives on through his music and movies. His music music kicks Michael's rear.

I love the loaf, hauling coal on the night shift , kept all the other drivers awake bye belting out Anything For Love, on the CB, good times on the job lol
The motorcycle sound comes from moving the plectrum up and down the low E string, because that string wound you get a scraping noise which the addition of distortion makes a noise like a revving engine, there is a little whammy bar action going on as well, on the record it is played by Todd Rundgren.

Subscribed!!! You had me in stitches laughing at the drama … “in the valley Tonighhhht”
Welcome!!🤗
Meatloaf did sing with Pavarotti once. Turno Suriento. Beautiful.
I've watched your reaction to this song a couple of times and every time I hear it and I love your reactions. Meatloaf was asked to perform Opera at one stage he turned it down for whatever reason but Maggie imagine singing your favourite duet with him I think he could've pulled it off. That 4 years on the Broadway stage really paid off.
The first time this video played on US TV on The Midnight Special the tape got distorted and broke.
He was so distraught thinking his shot was ruined; he went off on a three day bender and almost died.
I have this album in every configuration and I saw the show live.... Great reaction.
Jim Stienman who wrote the album was a genius and Meatloaf was the best at singing his songs together they produced pure magic
Hi Maggie, 'Objects in the rear view mirror ', 'For crying out loud 'and 'Heaven can wait ' all by Meat Loaf are excellent, beautiful and incredibly moving songs. It would great if you could review them please. The world has suffered a huge loss with the passing of him.
Thank you for your lovely comment! 💖 Hope you are having a lovely weekend! 😊 Can't wait to see you tomorrow on my livestream: ruclips.net/video/wqnYJzLorBk/видео.html
Definitely check into this one
Definitely check into this one
I found Meat Loaf far to late. Really enjoy watching the videos of him. The show they did in 1999 at the Hard Rock Cafe is the greatest.
Your right he's one of the few you can understand 99 percent of what he says. He had such a hard life.
Guitar for motorcycle, shows it in one of videos of his life.
Meatloaf... Talent personified... What an amazing talent. RIP
Meat Loaf is everything Jack Black wishes he could be.
A comedian and comic actor?
Dudes definitely talking about Jack Black's music and I definitely agree with him.
@@st0n3p0ny tbh only acting I've seen Meatloaf do was in Rocky Horror Picture Show. But his music has gotta be some of the best of all time.
@@st0n3p0ny Im also hella surprised someone responded so quickly on such an d comment.
Uh, no earbuds in 1977. That is hair stuck to his sweaty face.
Bat Out of Hell and the first Boston album were the musical theme of my High School years. The writing and musicianship on both albums were incredible. Only way to truly appreciate them is in the car, roaring down a back road with the cassette deck cranked up to just below the clipping point.
Just today I found out that Meat loaf's drummer on this Album was Max Weinbergen, father of Jay, current Slipknot drummer!
can we please get meatloaf into the rock and roll hall of fame
Love how you get into the songs and videos.
Summer of '77 ,I was on a foster group home ranch, owned 1 of the 8 horses on that ranch and stayed 2 years! A very magical time for me! THANK YOU MAGGIE FOR THIS REVIEW! CRYING AS I WRITE THIS!
I have this album in every format that it has ever been released in. Starting with my first LP in 1977.
If you thought bar out of hell was good then I suggest you listen to meatloaf’s song “For crying out loud” truly epic talent and such a beautiful song. Definitely one worthy of a video
My favorite song on that album! A wonderful love story!
My favorite too
Seeing him live was almost a religious experience, bikers with tears welling up, women with upturned faces streaked with tears, jumping along to the piano carnival, 🎶staggered by a throbing guitar Aug 30, 1978 with Eddie Money at the Merriweather Post Pavilion Columbia, Maryland.🎸🎼🎵
This was the night after seeing the Doobie Brothers at the same venue.😎
I was 11 years old with my Mom, and her friend, and her 13 year old redheaded daughter Cherry Lynn in a VW camper bus.💘
Got stoned, frenched, and 2nd base, all it cost me was my heart. 💋
The concerts were Tuesday and Wednesday and Friday they left for a job in LA never to be seen by me again.💔
I still have my original copy of this album I bought back in 1977 and it still plays the same today as it did then
I'm only 2 1/2 min in and already I love your reaction! 😍
🤩
That motorcycle sound is actually an electric guitar sound effect, it’s good though.
I watched a video about music these days that explained because everything is edited on computers they do something in the editing process that compresses the db which means the instruments all blend together and nothing actually stands out, in the old days they recorded everything rough and raw which gave the sound a more dynamic depth, so technology and laziness have in part ruined music.
Whoever does the animations for your videos is a genius. That "Ten years later" cracked me up . . .
Welcome!! 👀👍💟 Hope to see you on my livestream in 2 hours! 🎶
He was a genuine heroic tenor, and was offered a job by some opera company, but didn't want to be restricted that way.
Like a Bat out of Hell..
Enough said, master peace on every level..
Todd Rundgren on guitar is epic as well very accomplished before and post Bat out of Hell. He did the motorcycle sounds as well, in one take also.
I bet Maggie would have been in love if she ever got the chance to see him live in concert.
MAY YOU GET WHAT YOU DESERVE FOR THIS REACTION! I WAS 10 WHEN THIS CAME OUT IN AUGUST OF'77! AM 57 NOW! THANKS FOR YOUR REACTION TO ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS OF ALL TIME! WHO ELSE DOES 15 MINUTE SONGS! NOT MANY!
Such a musical masterpiece!! It doesn't get any better than this!! MEATLOAF was a living legend that was a master of his craft!! ❤
Great reaction! Please do a reaction to Meat Loaf "You Took the words right out of my mouth"
Thank you for your lovely comment. Will you be there for my 195K Subscriber Celebration Live Stream tomorrow?
This is absolutely the best all time motorcycle crash song. Absolutely hauntingly beautiful
This album has sold over 43 Million copies making it one of the best selling albums ever. strange to think most record company's at the time wanted nothing to do with it.
Meat could replace most any opera singer
Thats what he is!
meat loaf was on trumps tv show The Apprentice before he was president and he showed how smart he was and devious.💚
Was 14 when this song was released. The high school juke box wore a groove in the 78 record. It was played almost hourly. All his songs are a story.
This is the song that introduced me to rock music as a teenager in the seventies. Still one of the best rock songs of all times.
Rest in Peace, Marvin. And thank you for the music.
Never another like him, people always talk about part 1 and 3 but Bat Out of Hell 2 was an amazing one too, Everything Louder Than Everything Else is one of his best songs ever and no one ever talks about it. You should absolutely do it. Looking beautiful as always, keep it up.
Patti Russo still performs some of Meatloaf's songs on her solo career
Soundtrack of my teens, the whole album. Edited to add - the motorcycle sound was created on a guitar... how I have no idea.
glad to see you enjoying meatloaf, a fellow high scool student. Opera trained
We definitely lost one of the greatest vocalist ever when he passed. And one of the best songwriters in Jim Steinman the year before that
I was lucky enough to see him in concert for his comeback tour. Dude is a rock opera performer without a doubt.
Omg love your reactions. You were really rock in out
Of course that's easy with Meatloaf
Thank you!! 🤘
Its probably been mentioned many times but the pianist is Roy Bittan from Springsteen's E Street Band. Max Weinberg was the drummer. The two of them were on most of Jim Steinman's compositions, recording with artists including Bonnie Tyler and Air Supply.
The revving of the motorcycle is actually his guitarist
I saw him on the Last Bat out of Hell tour when he performed both sets at his age, hands down the best performer I've seen
9:19 the female singer is Pamela Moore. She was his live singing partner for a long time in the late 70s and early 80s
No the singer on stage in the video is Karla DeVito. The singer on the recording is Ellen Foley.
I love how you were sitting there open mouthed and speechless for a moment.
That’s what Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman do to you! 🤘🦇❤️
There was a special on the making of Bat Out Of Hell. Todd Rundgren did not want to include the motorcycle sound but Jim Steinman insisted and as Steinman said, Rundgren twisted a few knobs on his guitar and produced the motorcycle sound
Absolute magical song with a legend todd rundgren and a stunning Meatloaf!
This man was always owned my heart since I discovered his music in the 80's. When we lost him he still lives on through his music and movies. His music music kicks Michael's rear.
aw man, I was looking forward to your reaction when you realized you were rocking out to this guy's horrific crash and graphic and violent death. dude, his heart (still beating) went flying out of his ribcage from the impact! 😱 you almost made up for it with the rxn to that last long note tho 🥰
I've just watched you fall head over heels for Meat Loafs epic voice. You should also listen to his song For Crying Out Loud from the Bat Out Of Hell album. His voice on this track is so powerful and pure and in my humble opinion is his finest vocal work.
I love the loaf, hauling coal on the night shift , kept all the other drivers awake bye belting out Anything For Love, on the CB, good times on the job lol
Objects in the rearview mirror may appear closer than they are!!!! Great song by Meatloaf about a man overcoming his traumas.
i believe i read somewhere that Steinman said Objects was one of the Hardest songs to get through while Writing
The motorcycle sound comes from moving the plectrum up and down the low E string, because that string wound you get a scraping noise which the addition of distortion makes a noise like a revving engine, there is a little whammy bar action going on as well, on the record it is played by Todd Rundgren.
GOD bless meatloaf he will always be sadly missed
His daughter replaced the lady singer at Casino Rama (LARGE) just outside ORILLIA ON. Pop. 25000 on (RAMA, First Nations Indian Reserve about 10ish yrs.ago.
SHE sounded Great too!
