what an insanely beautiful engine! i'd love to go back in time and tell these guys, to put fatter tyres on lol back then theyd put coach wheels on a bmw m5!
@@puebespuebes8589 They just didn't have wider tires back then. They weren't yet able to produce a safe and stable wide tire. It all changed with the radial tire and it's evolution. Hence the Auto Union hillclimb car having a pair of rear wheels on each side to increase traction
Que belleza por Dios .el sonido es una sinfonía..si no me equivoco Oscar Alfredo Gálvez ganó con una similar en los bosques de Palermo, Argentina en el año 48....
No, it's Julian Majzub driving his Alfa Romeo 308C. He's owned that car for a long time, he first raced it in 1995 after having it put back together...
@@jamesroseby3823 Majzub owned a number of cars, and tends to use all of them, from what I can see... Apparently, some of the commentators at the event said that you basically wont know what car he will bring up next...
I think many here are confusing this car with the amazing 158 and 159 Alfas that won the first WDC. While this car looks a little like one it is NOT, instead it was the unsuccessful 308 that had little success in its day
That's an Alfa Romeo 8C Monza, a much earlier car than the 308. That very car was raced by Jean-Pierre Wimille in period, and was recently repainted in that light blue with red stripe, which is the livery it had when Wimille raced it.
The narrow wheels isn't the real problem here, it's the swing rear axle. The swing rear axle means that the rear camber changes depending on suspension movement. Lifting off or braking gives it positive camber at the rear, not what you need as you turn into a corner...
What a machine. Kudos for using it properly.
He is on the edge, only way to drive it.
Driven FOS regular Julian Majzub. He really knows how to hustle vintage cars.
Heh, I guessed it was him purely from the driving style :)
He's driving it like he stole it,fantastic. 😊
It sounds so pissed off I love it.
Wow that Alfa Romeo sounds amazing 😍🔥
Bloody Brilliant!!! Car and Driver!!!
The most beautiful race car ever (for me)
Simply amazing
A real Alfa Romeo.
Beautiful piece of history
Absolute beautiful peace of machinery and respect for the driver. Bella Alfa Romeo❤
For only a 3.0 litre supercharged straight 8 that is one nasty sounding unit
I just love these old racecars. Thanks for sharing, appreciate it a LOT 👍
Greets from the Netherlands, T.
A Legend, drove by a leggendary driver❤
Sounds awesome
Always loved these. Simply beautiful

Those were the fattest they could put on... There were truck tires, sure, but I don't think that's good for racing...
and radial tires lol, bias plies are just awful for racing
Widder tire where kind of useless with the rubber and no aero, top speed was also very importent because circuit had longer straight.

@@rofufoja Didn't 1960s race car use wide bias ply tire ?
We love old Alfa Romeos!!!
Absolutely beautiful car 🚗 and driver has balls of steel. Great driving.
No cap they needa bring back the inline-8…rare and wild sound…imagine it turbocharged 👀🙌🏿🔥
No it will mute it's sound while turbocharging
@@vinaypanchal5469 very tru but not by much, especially if it’s jus single turbo 🤷🏿♂️
It is supercharged, twin supercharged, I might add...
@@jcgabriel1569 that’s why I said “Imagine it turbocharged”…lol
Thanks for this spectacular video,Gumbal!

Ohohoho, music maestro! ♥️🎼🎶🎶🎶🎵

What a glorious thing it. My all-time favourite pre-war Alfa. Is that Peter Greenfield driving?

@@jcgabriel1569 Thanks…Much respect seeing it being driven so enthusiastically. I’d love to see it in the metal one day. 👍

the 158 was built in 1938 and was hidden until the war has ended.. when it won the championship in 1950 it was 12 years old.
Does anybody recognize the make of the light blue car behind the Alfa @ 1:25?

Para que quiere cambiar? Las cosas no deben perder su esencia
When piloting something that valuable can be a little sketchy with such narrow wheels 😂
