Nice. Hands down the best "walkthrough" video I've ever seen. No talking, no rubbish. Just the audio and visual in the language we understand best. Good job! And nice instrument too. ;-)
What a nice gesture to spontaneously give away a midi file of your official demo. I always expected sample library creators to do so, but you are the first one I see actually doing it. That adds up to the quality of your library. Thanks !
just wanted to thank you for the midi files, I'm no musician and I couldn't find any midi pack on the market that would show me how to orchestral parts are written, this is a great resource.
This sounds REALLY good! You need to get a facebook group to collect likes/and or get a newsletter or something where people can stay in the loop with your stuff. Really great sounds! I like the fact that you have some patches that play both long and short notes. That's been one of my biggest pet peeves
First off - I love demo's like this - they always inspire me to write stuff. Showing the actual midi file with the articulation patches gives great production hints for many libraries! So thanks! I'll be picking up CSS soon. (Along with the rest of the libraries when you release them) Next, where is the bamboo flute from? I really liked it's sound!
I own both Cinematic Strings 2 and 8dio and listening to Cinematic Studio Strings... CSS sound more pleasant and lush with that airiness on the top. Every good String Library has a purpose, 8dio is nice for sure........................ But CSS is Great they have that open smooth rich tone that you can listen to for longer periods of time. You won't go wrong to add this library to you arsenal ................. Great Job Alex
Hi Isaiah, I do not have EW Hollywood Strings. I have heard Hollywood String can tax your computer. From my ear the Hollywood Strings are not as lush sounding.
I tried opening the midi file on FL studio. Its amazing but the problem is that the switch between articulations is not detected. And how is the legato on and off automation is made since in the first example you have to turn it off manualy to play all the chords instead of only legato
Umm.. listening the demo i can say that maybe this library is the best CONTROL library for string ever... we know about spitfire audio , but in fact i think this library have better articulations and more posibilities for made exactly what you want, and about quality sound dont know what to say, it's hard be in same level of Spitfire Audio, but this sounds great ( i feel that sounds like retro film style and i love it )anyway i dont know wich is better.. i didnt have this , its just an opinion watching this demo. but congratulations.. i hope someday Studio Series launch woodwinds too.
Montażownia nr1 well i personally used albion and its realistic and 8dio is bit virtual and cinematic strings is just next level it is better than albion go with cinematic strings
Quick tech question? I use Logic with CSS and when the transport (Play) is stopped the mod wheel slider resets to zero. No sound is then heard from the midi keyboard...one always has to raise the modwheel to practice alternate line ideas etc. -Is there some way to set CSS midi behavior so that the modwheel remains in the position it was at in automation when the playhead stops? (most libraries work this way)
I try your midi file in logic x. It's a quality lesson for me. I want to ask, what is channel pressure? In short notes (actually full ensamble channel) channel pressure is changing but i cant hear what is the difference. Why are you using it?
Thanks, glad you liked it! I used no reverb or eq on any of the demos, including this one. I like letting the natural sound of the room provide the ambience. :) -Alex
amazing, you could actually create a pack of midis and sell it, it would be of great help, i don't think there are any midis of this level on the market.
You can use the marcato articulation and make sure the spiccato overlay switch is turned on. The marcato has some legato that allows for a better emulation of a string run when played in quick succession. Edit: Or without overlay, depends on what you're going for I suppose
wow. I need this. Does anybody have any recommendations for learning cubase? Currently using reaper and the constant playing shown here is a revelation. I always knew my strings were meh.
Nice walkthrough! Very tempted to purchase the library. One question: What are the slight rattles in the bass/cello section at 4:35 in the video (full ensemble measured tremolo example)? Are these part of the samples? Could they be fixed with some careful de-clicking, for instance with izotope RX?
Niklas Silen It’s sounds more like when a Plugin is probably ”overheating” and fails to play in realtime. Never a problem when you bounce your music :)
Hi Ad, Yep, just follow the link in the description, and then extract the MIDI file from the zip and import it straight into Logic by clicking File > Open - this should import the whole thing including the tempo map. Then you'll just need to load the CSS patches and assign them in accordance with the names of the MIDI channels. Hope that helps!
I get the feel that this sounds a bit vintage in a way. not so much the modern blockbuster movie sound. It's not a bad thing, i like it but kind of make them a bit less versatile perhaps.
FreeDooMusic I feel the same way, I love that sound so much though. I think if you polish it up a bit that it could blend in with more modern sounding libraries as well though.
Sure lots of possibilities. i managed to make a strings library i bought for 1 euro sound good enough for a trance track. it was a 99% discount at the time. :P

+100000 Best tuto ever, and with midi!!! Great job Cinematic Studio Strings, and thank you
I know right?? No-talk-fast-transitions let-the-music-talk-for-itself tuto is the best tuto!

The best string library I've ever heard.
The measured trems completely sold me. The rest is great too, but that piece is just so energetic and wonderful to listen to...very impressed!
just wanted to thank you for the midi files, I'm no musician and I couldn't find any midi pack on the market that would show me how to orchestral parts are written, this is a great resource.
Amazing! That actually really helps understand strings articulations and how they are used for people that are not used to it. Thanks!

Came here to do research on CSS. Ended up falling in love with the music and the writing...
This library looks like a complete success. Well done guys.
I am so impressed by this! Great job! Buying it ASAP!
Nice one! But where is the "Bamboo Flute" from? :)

Rob Howard Right. Very well said, I'm inspired by these too... 💝💝💝
lol same
I wonder where it is from
which flute is used in the last piece????
That's how you do an articulation Video! Brilliant! Thanks :D

Would you know how it compares to EWQL Hollywood strings?
Isaiah Soucy EW is very good but a little bright. I love Alex's strings because they are warm and expressive. Very easy to play too!
Hi Isaiah,
I do not have EW Hollywood Strings. I have heard Hollywood String can tax your computer. From my ear the Hollywood Strings are not as lush sounding.
Thank you so much for the midi file!!!! I direly needed it

Incredible! You guys might have just replaced Cinematic Strings 2 as the new best string library on the market!
Once I have the money, I'll buy it, awesome!
Any chance for a return of the legendary "runs mode" from cinematic strings 2 in a future update?^^
Congratulations on the new release! How are you emulating the con sordino? It sounds beautiful!
Umm.. listening the demo i can say that maybe this library is the best CONTROL library for string ever... we know about spitfire audio , but in fact i think this library have better articulations and more posibilities for made exactly what you want, and about quality sound dont know what to say, it's hard be in same level of Spitfire Audio, but this sounds great ( i feel that sounds like retro film style and i love it )anyway i dont know wich is better.. i didnt have this , its just an opinion watching this demo. but congratulations.. i hope someday Studio Series launch woodwinds too.
Now I feel happy。 Thank you.
I'm leaning toward this over Spitfire.
So many good strings are now avia ble.. Berlin, Albion ONE, NI Ensemble, 8DIO ADDAGIO... what to use ? ;)
Montażownia nr1 well i personally used albion and its realistic and 8dio is bit virtual and cinematic strings is just next level it is better than albion go with cinematic strings
this lib is worth it :)
For the price go with CSS. This library is amazing!
What librsry is the flute you used from?
FL studio or Cubase ? which one best for Cinematic studio string ?
Quick tech question?

Do you know, what the offset is, for each articulation for CSS in Cubase?
Are there cellos and rest string instruments patches or just violins and full string orchestra?Kind Regards.
You really have to bring out the next products of the Cinematic Studio line. This waiting is a lot more brutal than Christmas :/
The download link doesn't appear to be working.
Your website no longer works for me. Is there something wrong with it?
Nice video nice jobs. Thanks maestro.
Beautiful was this done in Studio One?
It's cubase 8
Cool I just listen to this again this plug in is really beautiful
so when are those other instruments supposed to be coming out?
Fantastic walk through! Can you shed some light on the reverb used/settings?
Thanks, glad you liked it! I used no reverb or eq on any of the demos, including this one. I like letting the natural sound of the room provide the ambience. :)
-Alex
i terms of Size and sound is this very different to CS2 ?
Can midi files be put into ableton they dont seem to show up looks like a audio file
amazing, you could actually create a pack of midis and sell it, it would be of great help, i don't think there are any midis of this level on the market.
Thanks for good video and "walkthrough" instrument!
A little question, Where can I find 2nd Violin Runs?
Can I ask you. How to make fast run this vst??
You can use the marcato articulation and make sure the spiccato overlay switch is turned on. The marcato has some legato that allows for a better emulation of a string run when played in quick succession. Edit: Or without overlay, depends on what you're going for I suppose
Hello cinematic studio series just purchased this awesome library can you please answer me how to write Runs in this library ???
Lisa van Hal thankyou so much friend

Yes!
Has ANYONE figured out how to control vibrato with this library. I'm completely stumped. Cannot find a word about controlling Vibrato in CSS

Hi Alex. Is it possible to download the MIDI file for the walkthrough for iMac and Logic?
Hi Ad,
