Not really. You gotta boil the wood if you want to bend it, acoustic guitar, mandolins, violins all have their sides bent in a similar manner the only difference is that the wood for the ring is a very thin laminate which makes the bending process quite easy

I assume the use of the vacuum chamber is to stabilise the ring? What resin do you use? Do you have to then bake the ring?
