Even if this wasn't the best Sonic game ever... I still think it teaches the best moral, with a pretty decent plot twist. I'd go as far to say it rivals Unleashed in terms of story.
Far from the best Sonic game, far from the worst. (Looking at you 06 and boom) the game had my younger self entertained for months and i set out to 100% complete the game. A decent plot twist, and you learn about chivalry and moral. The cutscene after the final boss tugs at my heart strings even today. Its so true and philosophical. My god... Words can't describe how much I love this game. The music, the characters. This badass super sonic transformation, the way its handled, this is the first sonic game I ever touched, and my god is it a fucking masterpiece.
How to beat this game. Press and hold forward.. Waggle the wiimote. A couple hours and you're done. No matter how bad a sonic game can be sometimes tho...the music is never lacking.
Honestly, all of you who've played this game, when you first saw Merlina, how many of you KNEW she was going to turn out to be the main villain simply because she knew too much yet always disappeared during any fight and yet played herself off to be weak and defenseless
And Shadow having a gun, Amy having a hammer, Tails having a whole assortment of weapons, Silver having telekinesis, Blaze having fire... the list goes on and on.
This game and Sonic Unleashed (PS3/360) are the best Sonic games ever. Amazing gameplay in Unleashed (both day and night), amazing story in Black Knight. They're amazing Sonic titles. Thumbs up if you agree.
I'll always prefer Shadow over the one thing he has that Sonic doesn't - He's the ultimate lifeform that suffers from amnesia the moment he gets injured in the slightest. And sometimes when he's not injured.

its actually pretty cool to see some cartoon animation in a sonic game but they could've added more frames in the cartoon animations as well just look at sonic CD on the sega CD and that time he was drawn and not computerized
I honestly think Sega could have done so much more with this. Like maybe next time they can put Sonic in feudal Japan and he can wield a katana. And they could actually try to animate the cut-scenes this time and make the gameplay like sonic generations.

that depends entirely on perspective. Sonic Underground is the only series that said he's a prince. In SatAM, Sonic was the nephew of a knighted commoner. In AoStH, Sonic was really just a vagabond. the games themselves really have no reference to sonic being nobility, and I'd never heard of any continuity between Sonic Underground and Sonic X. You guys may entertain your mythology, I'm not going to stop you. But you can't stop me and others like me from rejecting Sonic's 'noble background.'

Just so you know if you get a rythim going with your slashes during soul surge you can get a string of perfect hits and only have to block a slash from her once each round. Just a tip.
that's my favorite part of the game , by the way your problem is that you attack way too fast , you have to wait for the right moment and then you'll finish it with one hit and get 5 stars , oh and i like your username , mine is Sonictopfan ;)
You'll get a better score (and deal more damage per hit) if you time your swings, and don't just attack willy-nilly. You also won't tire your arm out as quickly.
You missed the part about the Sword deciding WHO is worthy of the crown. In the Legend of King Arthur, if i remember right, Britain had no king at a certian time and it was said that 'He who could remove the sword Excalibur from the stone, would be the King of Britains. Try as anyone might, no one could remove the sword, until Arthur did. In short, Sword = Kingship Get. Royal Blood or not.
There are a lot of Digimon knights, the most famous is probably Omegamon. You're probably talking is Imperiadramon Paladin mode. Magnamon (V-mon that Armor evolved with the DigiMental of Miracle) is the most similiar to Excalibur Sonic. Sir Percival/Blaze in this story kinda look like Sakuyamon (Ruki and Renamon Matrix evolved together), then again Blaze is indeed kinda Ruki-ish and Renamon-ish, plus also Saber-ish (Fate/). Maybe Caliburn (voiced by Hiroaki Hirata) should narrate? ;)
@lightninstriker10 Thanks. I was Hoping for a more comprehensive run down of the sword's atacks. Lke move the Wiimote back to do an uppercut slice or something like that, but it's good enough. The boss tip will be especially useful. I'd want to test out how they react if you hit them right after they finish a sword combo on your shield.
