    Now I am a senior graduating this semester with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems. I started off college 5 years ago in a brand new language for me since I am from a non-English speaking country. It was very hard for me to follow through in class and I remember I made a grade of C in ALL the 4 classes I took my very first semester. I am so glad I found this channel when I had to take Calculus! I went from making a C in Pre-Calculus to passing Calculus I with an A+ ! All thanks to your videos as you are so fun, clear, engaging and most importantly, I could re-watch if I did not understand something you had said (language barrier here again). I just recommended your channel to a friend who is also starting college. Not sure if you will read this, but THANK YOU!!!! This is such an amazing work you did with this channel!

    I'm sure that many students are very grateful for your effort and hard work needed to make these videos. I have 3 true/false questions to ask (check my answers).
    T/F. Every relation is a function (I think it is false)
    T/F. Every function is a relation (I think it is true)
    T/F. Every graph is a relation. (I think it is true)
    A relation is a set of ordered pairs. A function is a rule that assigns every element in the domain a unique element in the range. Thank you so much for these videos

    Functions and relations are defined/introduced initially in pre algebra or algebra so kids will be in maybe 8th grade I think and definitely 9th grade. They are reviewed at the beginning of almost every math class after that though in algebra 2, and even in my Precalculus book. Most of my Pre Calc kids are 16 or 17....but it is...or should be a review by then.

    Many of my college professors were like that too and some high school teachers too. For some students I am sure I'm a little boring since I do have a tendency to over-explain things. I am hoping my style of teaching gains me a good following on RUclips...since all math teachers are basically saying the same thing.

    I dont know why but in shcool(in Norway,) we newer had anything about relation only about functions, and we started using vectors and derivative last year.

    • @profrobbob
      @profrobbob  9 лет назад +1

      Isn't it just amazing that the internet allows all of us to talk and learn from each other from all over the world!!! Here in Florida, vectors are covered in Trigonometry and Physics, and derivatives are introduced in Calculus. The idea of relations and functions are learned in early studies of Algebra which for most students are middle school or early high school...ages 13 to 15 Thank you for watching all the way over in Norway:D

    Thanks for your great videos. The word "relation" is used for two objects and is confusing. A function is a subset of relation. But a relation that is not a function is also called a relation. Why isn't there a separate word for "relation that is not a function"?

    I am not sure I totally understand your question. You need an x to go along with the y value of -4. Like if the was another coordinate of (5,-4) I would just add a 5 in the x column and a -4 in the y and we would still be mapping a function. If the point (1,-4) was added then the x value of 1 would be mapped to -4 and 4 it we would now have a relation.
