cried like a baby. great movie. Hachi is now in Heaven with his owner Ueno.
I agree tooooo
too bad that animals can't go to heaven...
will byers deserves to be happy
it doesn’t necessarily need to be heaven. just a place, likely out of our physical world where Hachi and his owner can be together in serenity forever.
@bbyoutube It depends on your religion and how closely you adhere to that religion. For example, different Popes over the years have been asked that question. Do animals go to heaven? Some Popes say yes and others say no. And that’s just Christianity. Obviously there are many other religions with their own beliefs too.
•Cherri• What do you mean???
Normally I might cry at the end of a movie or at a specific part which is sad but with this movie I cried from the moment his master died and for the remainder of the movie. From that moment on every minute of the movie was gut wrenchingly sad The tears kept flowing.. What remarkable loyalty from a dog
me indeed felt the same. the moment , the master died till the end , my emotions overturned n tears keep falling. how pure is the protrayal of love we can see in this scene .. awesome love
Same here. I now can't even watch a full minute of the movie without crying
+Jane Byfield
I cried even before the movie started :-/ Maybe because I knew what would happen... But the worst part was when Hachi aged and met the owner's wife again. Hit me really hard.
+Yutella What hit me harder was when Hachi died and reunited with his master again. I cried for five minutes.
Caitlyn Adams Have you ever watched The tale of Mari and the 3 puppies? It's also based on true story, and a very touching one at that.
i hardly ever cried. (never cried when watching the notebook, forrest gump, etc) but this got me BAWLING.
it has a faithful dog die waiting for its master. who wouldnt cry?
@@aengielle666666 Exactly I cried alot
Yes, you commented this 7 years ago. Yes, I'm replying to it now. I bawled 3 times, and cried even more.
@@Nolongerusingthisaccount123 First time watching it. 😭😭😭❤️❤️🐶
You Richard Gere and this dog has a magic together..you did good, that dog looks like he belongs to you..Thank you for the wonderful acting..You touched our hearts...
I ugly cried for three hours straight, now Hachiko is in heaven right now...with his owner Professor Ueno 😢😭👨🐶🐕💖
Yes😢😭
At least they get to reunite 🤧😢
😭 yes he is.
If I ever take a trip to Japan, I'll wake up every morning to go to Hachiko's statue, and wait and sit around for an hour, just for Hachiko! So he won't be lonely.
I've seen this movie at least 20 times and cry every time. Thank you to the cast and crew.
Ikr
Same here keep crying
I love you ture storey
+Fremont Pathfinder I mean...how!? I could only see it one time, because I was crying like a little girl and I remember I said "I'm never going to watch this movie again" lol and till now I have never watched it again
I know how you feel but I have shown it to my students so I have seen it multiple times
Hachi the dog will always be my hero
I've rescued three Akita's in my day and never regretted one yet. Best dogs ever.
Redhead5150, congratulations for your beautiful deeds. But I would say ALL dogs are wonderful as they give you unconditional love, a thing you'll never get from human beings
Claude Konqui What about parents? Don’t many of them love their children unconditionally?
@@claudekonqui554 spoken so true
I'm with Richard Gere. I cried like a baby too.
This is one of the most beautiful movies I've seen in a long time...I couldn't stop crying.....I wish Hollywood would make more of these heartfelt movies.
That was so sad I was balling my eyes out when I found out that this was based on a true story
One of the best films ever! I love you Richard Gere for your beautiful work in this film and telling the magnificent true story of Hadchi.
Please also watch the original Japanese movie set in the 1930s and you will be moved too. It's the real story as it happened. In Japanese the film is known as "Hachiko Monogatori" but you'll find a version with subtitles.
I watched this movie on Netflix. It was fantastic. I fell in love with the whole story, the actors and the acting. I have not cried this hard in a while, then watch the real story on you tube and cry some more. My heart was breaking when I seen him waiting under the abandoned train each night just to go back to the station and wait some more. But there were happy times too. I will buy this movie as it's a keeper. 💕💝
I loved Richard Gere as the professor, but I can also see Tom Hanks playing the role very well too.
Richard Gere is such a bad ass for doing this movie. The role of Parker was a special role requiring someone who truely is an honest and decent human being.. not many could have made it believable.
Even before this video started I was in tears. This is the love animals have for humans. Beyond unconditional love. Beyond the words to describe their loyalty, and their kindness for us
🐈🐕🥺🩷💖
I wish he is very pround for that movie, cause its a masterpiece!
I started watching this movie right when Richard Gere's character died. As soon as I saw Hachi waiting for him at the train station.......that did it.......balling like a baby for the rest of the movie! And then to find out that this was a true story, it REALLY broke my heart! This is one of the most touching and saddest movies that I have ever seen! More sad then "Where The Red Fern Grows" and "Old Yeller" combined! A must see for all animal lovers!!! Hachi earned the statue that was mad
I agree... I dare say this is THE most emotional movie I've personally ever seen...! Old Yeller got me on two occasions, this one got me 6 times.
It just... My eyes hurt when i watch this movie. Even if its 284729448826175 times im watching. Same shit happens
Lay down
Try not to cry
Cry like a baby.
oh my. I've been watching all sorts of moview for 40 years. Never cried until this one. I love my dog.
i never cried so much in a movie befor it hurts just thinking about it my throat was swore an my eyes are warm and they burn i get a heavy heart just thinking about it
I cried so so much watching this movie! Phenomenal!!! Stellar job Richard Gere, absolutely stellar! This movie was so touching, and such a beautiful lesson about loyalty and compassion. The bronze statue at the end was necessary, and Hachi deserves it. So sad.
I really loved this movie, cried a lot , plus Richard Gere is one of my favourite actors 😊
This movie really got me! Never cried so much watching any other movie! The last scene has a really strong combination of image and music. I dont even know how to put it in words! It's a really great movie!
After watching this movie I can't control my feelings....... I though about me that I'm a strong guy to face any situations but after watching this film I understood that I can't face any of such situations that I loved to do......FROM NOW ON HACHI IS MY HERO.....I WONDER ABOUT HIS LOYALTY TO THE CARETAKER........ ❤️
if you disliked this you have no heart
Aidan Dia Totally agreed
They were crying so hard that they missed the like botton
I'm already crying and I haven't even watched the movie. I don't think I have the courage to watch it.
The Hachiko statue is everyone's favorite meeting spot. YET! The whole place is so packed with people that it has become the worst meeting spot. Me and my friend decided to meet at Hachiko once, back in '86. We looked for each other like an hour or two, but we never got to find each other. I couldn't believe it, because it's such a small area. How could we miss each other?? I called my friend after I went home defeated. She said she was there the whole time, and I said I was there the whole time. We still talk about it. We were planning to go watch Madame Souzatska.
BEING A DOG OWNER AND LOVER I CRIED MY EYES OUT THRU THIS MOVIE , I EVEN BOUGHT THE BLUE RAY DVD OF IT AND WATCHED THE MOVIE AGAIN THIS MORNING STILL CRYING LIKE A BABY , ILL B 73 IN AUGUST.
Dogs know what bad is going to be..so on that last day when owner died hachi did not want to go with his owner at morning because he was saying to his owner dont go ;something bad is happening today.he was barking so to stop him don't go please ..even he became ready to fetch the ball at the end so that he can try to convince his owner ;and stay with him.# such a great movie ..i cried
Its precious to see real stories with animals being more emotional and dedicated than humans. The dog knew that his owner would never return, he could easily feel and smell it. The reason he never left away is because he wanted to bring back his master in life with its own way and send a message to us about what love is. Never accepted the change and remained to its own world of love and friendship. For the dog everyday there was a return of his master.
I sobbed uncontrollably in this movie. I've got the dvd, but I've only seen it once as not long after seeing it I lost a very loved cat and I struggled with that loss and knew I couldn't cope with the sadness of the movie. I will always keep the dvd and hope I'm up to watching again soon.
Beautiful movie. I thought if I seen it again, I wouldn't cry anymore, NOPE I just finished watching Hachi and here I am crying again. I love this film so much I named my dog Hachi
This movie really tore at my heart and soul.. and it’s a true story.. only Richard Gere could play this part more meaningfully… I think this is one of the most beautiful movie and real story I have ever seen/heard in my life!🙏
This was the most amazing movie I've ever seen!!! Thank you for making it! It's my favorite movie!!!! Cried my eyes out! Shows the true loyalty of a dog!!! I wish it got more notoriety!!!!!!
This movie reminded me of a dog my girlfriend had and he was one of my best friends. Then one day he had to be put to sleep. This movie reminded me just how close humans and dogs could get and it made me miss him so much. R.I.P Pooky :,(
I'm so sorry for your loss...this movie reminded me of my old dogs too... :'(
+Erin Delic this reminds me of my pup cujo (don't ask me why I decided to give him that name.) he was a protector and a good friend and then some sick FUCK decided to attach his leash to another dog who was just running around and choking cujo out poor poor cujo!😔🐶
I cried my eyes out....oh Haichi :(
I have NEVER cried so mutch ove a movie :'(
I couldn't sleep the whole night...One of the best movies ever seen..background score was just too gud..movie of a lifetime...
Hachi showed the forever love that dogs have for their people, they are together now forever.I hope the rest of us could find that type of Love and share it with other people in this cold and self-centered World we call HOME. GOD bless all.
It amazes me how big of a bond people and dogs have with each other. People are always underestimating the love of a dog and don't understand how much you mean to them and how loyal they can be. I know for a fact that if they could give us one thing in life, other than love and loyalty, they would give us the ability to see ourselves through there eyes. Only then would we realize how much we mean to them. And one thing I found out from my own dogs, is that the one reason why a dog can be such a great comfort when you are feeling down, is the fact that he doesn't try to find out why. Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our life whole.
RICHARD GERE: SO GLAD YOU TOOK THIS PART.....HACHI DID TAKE TO YOU LIKE YOU WERE THE OWNER....SUCH A SINCERE, LOVING MOVIE. YET SAD.. TEARS DO COME DOWN...DON'T RECALL HOW MANY TIMES I HAVE SEEN IT.....
BUT IT HAS BEEN A VERY LARGE NUMBER!!!!!
HATS OFF TO RICHARD GERE , AND HACHIES OWNER
I Love This Movie, One of Mr Gere's Movies Ever Made. A Thumbs Up From Me,
Saw this movie 3 times now.. SOB everytime...makes want to cuddle all the pets in the world at once.
Greatest tearjerker of all time. I want to watch it a 2nd time, but I don't feel like bawling my eyes out again. Too gut wrenching.
This one broke me…how could it not?! It’s such a beautiful and heartbreaking story. Yet gorgeous and amazing of course. One of the greatest films of all time!
great movie, poor hachi
I've watched this movie today, I never thought it was based on a true story. And this movie was a great movie that had a very good value which I mean it teach us how to treat your animal/pet in a good way, loving and being nice to any animal that you've found and of course the loyalty. I've try not to cry I couldn't hold my tears,it was so heart touching film. Being nice and kind to animals/pet is not like being nice to human its totally different no matter how bad you are in person right?. :)
26 years old and I cry every time I see this movie, or the Japanese original. I think knowing this is based on a true thing makes it worse. I love the movie and Hatchi...I hope he's with his owner...somewhere.
I just watched the movie yesterday on January 4, 2021 and I almost cried. It’s so sad but cute at the same time 🥺🥺
This movie was great and very sensitive. The story was sad and the scenes fantastic.
The family shouldve just took Hachi to the funeral.....if they did, Hachi wouldn't be waiting all day for 9 yrs
that would've been maybe sadder... :D
in the original film hachi attends
He knew he was dead but he wanted to do the things he did whit him when he was alive
dogs are supersmart , even the day he died he felt something was wrong and didnt wanna join him to the station, they have a 6th senswe humans dont have but hatchi actually always had hope he was wrong and to see the man he loves again
Kicksapien you mean 10 yrs right? But i agree
This movie made me cry so much!!!!!! Just makes you want to speak to the dog and tell him that he's gone and he didn't abandon you, he just died! Oh so sad!
That's what Carl and Ken tried to do, but he didn't understand.
"You don't have to wait anymore. He's not coming back." - Carl
"Hachi, my friend, Parker is not coming home. But if Hachiko wants to wait, then Hachiko has to wait." - Ken
I had no idea at all a few days ago what this movie was about. I love dogs, have three of my own, and so I watched this tale, expecting little more than mere soft and perhaps good-feeling entertainment from it. As I'm writing this moment, a couple of days now after watching the film, I''m still welling up with tears.
I'm now an old man, but I profoundly believe that I've never in my life before wept so thoroughly, simply emptied my soul of its collected sorrows, as I wept over this movie. I sobbed convulsively. After the first sob the gates of sorrow opened wide and I couldn't stop the sobs for probably literally the next five minutes without interruption.
The matchlessly sweet and devoted soul of this dog makes me feel so small and unworthy of anything at all I've ever done or ever witnessed in my human world. I'm an atheist and so gave up feelings of God long ago, but this precious animal brought my hear-broken soul as close as I expect to ever again get to whatever I could imagine that communing with a true God might be. The character played by Gere, a character apparently grounded on some truth, was blessed in a way far too great for mere words to express by a love perhaps without its equal in the animate world. I can't adequately express what I myself would have given to wrap my arms around this saintly dog and helped for even a second to give it just the merest fraction of joy in return for its eternal, immortal and sweetest decency. I can't imagine anything at all bringing me closer to heaven than that.
I'm in love with that dog for the rest of my life. I still can't stop the tears...
This is probably the best movie I have ever seen. It was so heart-breaking when his owner died. I believe these dogs are the owner of the human. One of the most amazing scenes of the movie is when Hachiko brought his ball to the station to show his owner that he would fetch the ball because he was being loyal to his owner and Hachiko wanted to please him. I finally after years ago of watching this movie, I ordered the movie from E Bay a few weeks ago. I finally got the courage up to watch it last night because I knew I was going to be very sad, which I was. I Googled the actual life of Hachiko. it was really sad that he never took to another home. He was loyal to his owner until the day he passed away. Now I know why I love animals more than most people.
I never cry in funerals, but i cried so much in this movie!!
I cried my eyes out...
I heard of the movie but never saw it until I happened upon it on tv last night. Like Richard, I cried like a baby. What an absolutely beautiful story. When it comes down to it, regardless of our physical form, we are all one energy. We are connected to all things.
This is such a good tearjerker of a movie. The only other movie I can think of that has made me cry as much as this one is Titanic.
And Avengers Endgame, because C'mon.
I cry so much when I see this movie omg this so touching and amazing story,, What amazing dog
I own this movie on bluray DVD and it is a beautifully made and heartrending story that should have had a wider commercial release and deserved success. Gere deserves credit for bringing the project to fruition with Lasse Halstrom as the director and the supporting cast was impeccable. I defy anyone to watch the film to completion and not to be moved by the story. Gere, as evidenced by his recent work in Arbitrage, continues to be a first rate actor who looks for compelling stories.
I'm a cop with a family and this movie made me cry...our whole family was in tears!!
Who said cops could not have feelings towards animals? You have a fine family and you're devoted to the whole community. Respect to you, Sir. And please also watch the original Japanese story, the movie is set in the real-time (the 1930s) and at the real place where Hachiko's wonderful story took place. Both films are excellent but as for me, in spite of Richard Gere's wonderful performance, I prefer the Japanese movie because it feels more authentic. And in a different context, if you travel to Edinburgh Scotland, ask for the story of "Greyfriars Bobby" and you will learn another magnificent testimony of a dog's unconditional love and fidelity.
this was the first movie that ever made tear - drops run from my eyes. as said in the movie 'MARLEY', 'you only have to give a dog a little piece of loving and it will give you all its loving in return'. i just love them.
ohhh i cried so much... it's a beautiful story of loyalty!! The atmosfere in the movie it's brilliant with the piano music all time on background! Who don't cry, certainly don't have any feelings shown on this movie.
One of the best movies i ever seen! 10/10
me and my Classmates were watching hachiko then when hachiko died me and my Classmates were crying SOOOO HARD that I can hear it from far away omg so emotional
well some of my classmates
I still cry water out my eyes, a lot. I watched this classic around 100 times..god bless u all and hatchi for this memory
its the only movie that i cried from beginning to end.... in my whole life time i had never ever cried during a movie as much as i cried on this one. BEAUTIFUL story
I saw this movie for the first time yesterday, I loved it. Yes, I cried too.
i'm an animal lover include dog and cat. i cried everytime i've seen this movie, it shows how much dog love to the owner. animals have a feeling too. honestly, this is the second movie which makes me cry after titanic. two tumbs up richard and hachi!!
This is like the story of that woman from Mexico. When she was around 20 years old and was a week away from marrying her boyfriend, he went fishing on a boat, a hurricane caught him and he never returned. From that day on she waited for him dressed in white at the harbour. She did that every single day for 41 years. Now, that is devotion.
yeah it did happened it was in Mexico, el Muelle de San blas
no mames.esa es ana..cancion😋
One of the greatest movie I have ever seen , hatsoff to all the actors , director s and all the people's , love u all

8 years?
Every dog is like hachi 🥰 my dog also left us and my father got depressed after losing him😔Dogs are the beautiful and incredible gift of god 🐶 they are the real soul mates 🙏🏼
If you watch interviews with Richard Gere on his other movies he seems to always say he didn't really want to do X movie from the beginning but eventually got convinced... Interesting character, Richard Gere :) and total stud.
What a heart breaking movie i ever seen! Richard #1
You just can’t stop crying watching this movie
Everything about this movie was amazing!
I watched it three times and cried harder each time... by the third time watching it I was bawling my eyes out when it was still a puppy

This movie made me cry a lot! the best film about dogs that i have seen in my life!
The most beautiful movie i have ever seen,my favorite now, everyone should see it,you learn so much from it
Great movie!!! Highly recommend it!!!
Such a good film.
Loved the movie, cried too.
I think why people would cry so much because they know that this is not a fairy tale or some rare dog that happens to stay so loyal for his owner. Dogs are documented to exhibit such behaviours since men recognises them as our best friends. We may have to care and nurture them, sometimes put up with their crap, but in return, they give us their unconditional love.
Reminded me of Edinburgh's Greyfriars Bobby, loved the Movie and Hachi is such a lovely dog.
this is really touching story n being a true one makes it even mor hurting
ders another movie one of d best movie which i wouldnt watch again
