OMG I think all church kids feel this exact same way at some point. YES! it was alot to have kids pick on you or adults to cast you apart from the rest because of your christian upbringing. I grew up In the hood but in the church as well, and had trouble fitting in. But when you grow up you’ll be thankful for that spiritual upbringing because everyone you wanted to fit in with are nowhere near where you are!!! I look @ my life I thank GOD for casting me apart 🙌🏽

I can relate. I had my time of rebellion, saw a lot and realized there was nothing there for me. God's children may go astray but we have a shepherd who picks us up and brings us home.
those ppl who picked on you fantasia were jealous of you. you had a voice that was gonna take you places and they knew that. they said mean hateful things because they were insecure with themselves and they wern't going anywhere in life, so they wanted to bring you down. i learned to never be ashamed of what you were called to do because someone else doesn't like it or has negative things to say about it. it's not worth losing your blessings by listening to other ppl.

I went through a very, very similar ordeal in my teens and young adult life: I was a Youth Leader at 16, Attending the top ranked HBCU at 17, Competing in an Collegiate Ethics Bowl at 18, A Molecular Geneticist's and Biology Laboratory assistant at 19, getting on the National Dean's List, all while working two retail jobs, teaching Bible Study, and playing keyboard at church every Sunday. I began noticing that people were holding me to a higher standard and Adults were using me as someone for the kids to look up to... I DID NOT WANT THAT! So, I left! I never wanted to be an example for others. I did not want that responsibility. People expecting me to be a certain way for what I chose to do or what they considered accomplishments, I did not like that. It can be daunting in a position where everyone around you is telling you how much fun they are having, but you are not expected to participate in any of it because you are percieved a certain way. So, yeah... I get it! 😂
William Johnson woww sigh I totally resonate with that as I’m currently going thought this at my church. I don’t want the responsibility that they’ve bestowed on me. It’s a lot for me in a way because I’m not interested in being there or being active and being in the for front of things anymore. It’s a weird phase that I’m currently going through because I don’t know what’s going on , I just can’t wait to get better. In the meantime I spend a lot of my time working on bettering myself on so many level and I’m happy about that.

Yes, she truly is and I believe most "church" girls experienced this back in the day. Being young, church-going, and dedicated to the Lord during those times wasn't as acceptable as it is today. Personally, it was hard for me. I'm glad she is striving & living her dreams.

It’s the word of God that draws you to him. Being young and in the church is very hard. The enemy comes in like wolves. That’s when you know that you are chosen from God. You must stay on that foundation, I don’t care how much money you have. You cans be broke and broken it’s the word of God that’s keeps us. Trails and tribulations are going to come don’t care about the hater. Those are the ones that’s blessing you to push you in your calling. I am a PK. and I got picked on in school, going to Sunday service was my safe place. No one could make me feel out of place, are stupid like they did in school. I went thru a short rebellious stage but, I always prayed God would keep me until I was ready to surrender to his will, and he did. I am the church, and I have a real relationship. I also enjoy being around my brothers and sisters who are on the same journey I'm on. My mom always said the scripture about not being ashamed of God or his glory.
church has never been bout the building but the people. We must live holy in our bodies not a building. live 4 God all times not just hour out week

It's hard at time to help them see. there was some that went out but didn't make it back it hurtled so bad as being a Pastor wife .My husband at time felt like he didn't do enough. Even though we took them to 6 flags , Museums, concerts and other events for young people. Went to there games. But still some didn't get it. I told we can't save have them all. But thank you for tell us your store. And I realized as I gotten older it's about the relationship with God because we are the church the building is a place where we assembled ourselves. I will continue to pray for you and all youth.
I really love Tasia. This beautiful woman is my role model. I love to hear her story. I love to hear her sing especially when she’s ministering while singing.
I can do relate to what she said, when I was in my early teens I completely agree and even did the same things. I ministered as a youngster too and the responsibility was a heavy one however I chose to serve God and really was blessed the young man I fell in love with during my high school years loved God too and we were accountable to one another.

I also grow up in church and Was Singing With My Sister as duets And Also In choir From The Moment I Open My Mouth To Sing 🎤 I know God Had a Calling For Me, But Everything I Said Or Did Was Judge 👩🏾⚖️ If I Sing Or Dance 💃🏾 To A Song If It wasn’t gospel it’s definitely a battle That When I Was younger I Had To dealt With. But I would Never forget a girl Mum Told Me That God in your heart you know Who you’re So does God.
