What is your top tip for one of my craft goals?

  • @gbmaltese

So nice to see your smiling, lovely face today!! I failed at my goals last year - I wanted to make a top and a virus shawl (I got half a shawl done), so I guess I will keep those!! You have accomplished so much in the past year, whether they were goal-oriented or not, that you should feel proud of yourself. So glad you are feeling better from last week. Not sure where your chronic pain is, but I had so much pain in my ribs and lower back, that I also cried, and couldn't really do anything (really messed with my depression and anxiety too). Some things I did that helped with pain was to use a TENS unit (it sends electric currents through pads that you stick to the painful areas), and that helped a lot. I went to Physical Therapy and they showed me exercises to do. A heating pad also gives some relief and relaxes me. Not sure if any of this might help you, but they helped me - my pain is gone at the moment, so I am very thankful. I really hope they can do something to help you with your situation - it is horrible to be in pain. I'm so appreciative that people like you stuck with me, until I was able to get back to making videos. Take care, and love you! xxxx Grace

+gbmaltese Thanks Grace. Well goals are just that, something to aim for. It's so important not to pressure yourself with them. Thanks for the advice, that's a big help. So sorry to hear about your pain, but I'm glad it's gone. And yes like you it's tricky with mental health. Of course we stick with you, you're amazing and we love you lots xxxxxxx

I wasn't worried about no vlogs, more worried whether you were alright or not! Glad you're feeling better this week.
I'm quite happy to see a progress update on bigger projects if you just feel like working on one of them rather than stressing to do two small projects a week!
If you do decide to have a go at Tunisian crochet I recommend Kim Guzman's tutorials on RUclips. They helped me improve a lot. I still have a bit of trouble with gauge for garments given that you need to use a hook a couple of sizes larger than the suggested hook size for the yarn. I still find it quicker than knitting and slower than normal crochet! LOL!

+Ian Sharpes Aww thanks Ian. I did post on social media I was poorly, so always check that if you're worried. Nice to know you care 😊.
Actually that's a good idea, I think I will do that with the bigger projects.
Thanks for the tip, that's a massive help xxxx

Glad to see you back :). For pain I use breathing techniques, hot water bottles and baths. They don’t remove it but they can help take the edge off.

Glad you are feeling much better Karen - feeling a bit rubbish myself today (just a cough but means I can’t get any sleep) so curling up with the animals and catching up on all the vlogs 😊
Good luck with your goals for 2018! xx

Good to see you back, missed you. Sorry to hear about your health issues, I hope you can find some relief soon. I send you a great big hug. I think your fairie lights are interfering with your phone's ability to focus correctly, try leaving them off next time. Today I'm home sick with a cold so I'm catching up with you and doing some work on a cowl I'm making. Take care.

+Sandra Christiansen Thanks Sandra and I hope so too. Yes I think you're right, I forgot to turn them off. I didn't realise till I edited about the focus and of course then didn't have time to record again. So I must remember to turn them off lol. Sorry to hear you've been poorly, hope you soon feel better xxxx

It's a good idea to set some goals, isn't it, Karen? I think I'll have to do the same, so at least I'll be able to tick them off after they're done - or not! Lol
I had a go at making plarn early last year, but my hands just couldn't cope with the strength needed to make anything decent - so, well done you for persevering with it, no matter how long it takes :)
I've always wanted to make my own pattern, but never had the nerve to give it a try, so maybe I should follow your good example, and try to do so this year :)
I really love your cushion pattern, and will be sorting out my favourite shades of purple to make one of my own, I think :)
As a sufferer of ME, Fibromyalgia, Lupus, plus both types of arthritis, myself, it sounds like you may be in a similar situation, Karen? If so, if there's any info you need, or want, please private message me? :/
I actually taught myself how to crochet, as a way of distracting myself from my pain, as I hated getting all brain-foggy from the pain meds I was prescribed with, as well as putting up with one of the side effects of Fibromyalgia - Fibro-fog! :(
By having to concentrate on the crochet patterns, it distracts me enough that, even though I'm not pain free, I'm able to think of something - anything - else BUT the pain :(
Provided I don't push it, and crochet for too long, it's an excellent distraction for me, and at least I have something at the end of it, to be worth the pain expended :/
I taught myself, by co-incidence, by watching bobwilson123! But I didn't realise that this was the US way of crocheting, until I came across a UK pattern, and it all went wrong! Lol
Anyway, I just wanted to say that, whatever the problem is, I hope and pray that it eases for you, Hun - and that you get the right treatment to do that :)
I'm glad you got your Bella's ashes back at last - and it was a lovely thought to include the forget-me-not seeds, too. It was strange that the vets were that neglectful, but i hope it was just that they were terribly busy?
I hope you can cope okay when you finally lay her ashes to rest, Hun? :/

    • @KazzalisticCrochet
      @KazzalisticCrochet  6 лет назад

+Katy Board Yes it is. Yes plarn is trickier to work with. When it comes to doing your own pattern, just go for it, keep it simple, and make notes. It's very satisfying when its done. Go for it! Yay, make sure you share a pic of your cushion when it's done 😊. My goodness, bless you. I get brain fog with my depression, so do understand a bit what it's like. Thanks for the tips. Yes I stumbled with US and UK confusion when I started too lol. Thank you, yes that was. I'm not sure, I think they just forgot, but they are a small practice. Thank you, I hope so too xxxxx

    Great craft goal video.
I have pcos when it's at it's worse I use a tens machine. I am on contraceptive pill permanently which helps with some of the symptoms. I found that the pain relief gels and heat packs help with lighter pain x 😘

Sorry to hear you were poorly. I am not a good patient. A real baby :) I used to suffer with monthly pain and migraines. Both hormone related but only discovered that after a hysterectomy ! Sometimes painkillers helped, keeping my mind busy or just getting into bed and trying to sleep. My goals are as usual use up more wool and stop buying so much...doesn't last long. But I am trying by knitting hats for charity

+Jane Scarisbrick Thanks Jane. I'm not either, I'm a big baby lol. Well my pain is liked to monthly stuff, so I do understand. Thanks for the tips. Lol I think we are all guilty of that 😂😂. Good for you using it for charity, that's lovely xxxx

I’m waiting for a diagnosis to confirm fibromyalgia. I was prescribed gapentin which I had a bad reaction to, that has now left the doctors not knowing what to give me so I survive on ibuprofen and paracetamol alternating every 2 hours but what has helped me the most is cbd oil which I use in a vape pen. Doctors don’t seem to understand how bad it can be and I have kinda given up with them at the moment xx
