Race car drivers are athletes, and some of the hardest working ones at that. Driving your car everyday to work is so much different than racing a purpose-built vehicle. They deserve immense respect for putting their bodies, and lives, under intense pressure.

What's the difference between Indy car racing, and formula 1?
There are many differences, but what's most important is that Indycar has far closer and more frequent passing than F1, since it's a spec series. F1 allows development of nearly every part of the car, which means the best team makes the best cars, so competitive racing suffers.
Also Indycar runs a variety of circuits including ovals as well as road and street courses. F1 primarily races on permanent road courses and a handful of street ciruits and no ovals.
The IndyCar is not a technologically advanced and all the cars are similar. As a result the racing is generally closer. There are more teams and drivers in a position to win.
One word...... Money
From a physical perspective, F1 is probably more demanding of stamina. You look at F1 drivers and nobody is anywhere as near as big as this guy.
