Well said bro
I'm sorry I shouldn't be laughing but the rasta man was pure comedy 😂 you see once a Caribbean person says "mek mi tell you how the story go/mek mi tell you something" you know how that go already 😂man look tired of the reporter 😂😣he has a nice smile also ❤...Stay safe everyone ❤

Oo my gosh so true 😄😄😄
Dis a one bomb interview from yuh Jamaican sista🇯🇲🙏🏽👍❤
iwitness News, thanks for informing us on what's happening in St.vincent. You are doing a wonderful job covering the story up close and personal.
Very true
Love the "spirit" of this man in the middle of a devastating natural disaster. We need more people like him!!!
This guy is so radiant even though its a crisis .I pray for you guys you will get through by grace of god. You guys will get through you seem like strong people.
Great interview. Thanks for featuring this interesting local man to tell your story.
Rastaman said when the volcano went boom, he ran, his neighbor ran and his three-foot dog ran. Caribbean people really know how to find humor in bad situations.
which means he run leave him chicken too!😂😂
😂😂😂😂
They must find humor to stifle their trauma! African Union rescue your brothers and sisters PLEASE!
True ting! 🤣
Yes we da best 😂
The guy who speaks on the microphone, could have played in the pirates of the caribbean 😂😂
Lol
LOL...I said the same thing to someone earlier....maybe Captain Jack Sparrow forgot him on the island when the Black Pearl set sail.
Nonsense. You think the people of the Caribbean take this as a Hollywood make believe fiction?

I love him lol. I love the accent. I never realized that the Vincy accent was similar to Jamaican accent.
Not all of them speak the same way. I've heard others explain the same situation.
@@bernardjohn4699 I think this is the case in most countries. There are areas in England where the accent is very harsh and an outsider can hardly understand. Same thing with Jamaica, Ireland and even none English speaking countries like France and Spain. Some accents are more polished because of exposure to other accents whether that be on TV, internet, travelling or school. Some countries' educational system forces students to speak in a universal accent. This guy is obviously a farmer living on the backside of a volcano and doesn`t care to expose himself so that others can understand.
@@SammySam316 very insightful discussion. I've been told before that our accent is very similar to the jamaican accent. In this farmer's case, you are correct. In St. Vincent, the people who live in the north of the island, i.e. closer to the volcano, have a much thicker accent. That, coupled with the fact that this gentleman literally lives in the mountains would cause his accent to be even more pronounced. The interviewer is also Vincentian and I'm sure you understand him clearly.
@@bookmice5323 Thanks. I understood both clearly. I have a love for languages and accents. I have trained my ear to hear to nuances and intonations of native speakers. As Trevor Noah brilliantly stated an accent is not an indication of ignorance is is just "somebody speaking your language with the rules of their theirs"
@@SammySam316 Yes and its also like this just because. Similair to the way someone in Texas wouldmsound different than a New Jersey person.

A lot of Rastas from the other islands speak like Jamaican Rastafarians. I'm a Bajan living in London and I know some Jamaican creole due to listening to reggae and dancehall growing up and as an adult.

Here is my best English transcript but I am a bajan in London so I do not know the locations in St Vincent.
We are here in "Bottle and Glass" ( location in St Vincent) with Ronnie who is also known as "Smalls". He is based in Chateaubelair ( location in the North of St Vincent near the volcano) but he came to Barrouallie ( location in the North of St Vincent) after the volcano erupted. Where were you exactly when the volcano erupted? Well personally, you know, I (me) didn't try to evacuate like everybody else, you know. but it came about that I stayed back for my animals. I was stressed out by the noise and it was frightening. But let's leave that now and I will tell how the story goes. you see me everybody Let me tell you something( listen to me). In morgan Wood there, no farmer can do any work there right now. The whole of that area is destroyed ( mash up). Ashes mash up the whole place. The whole place looks like an oil stove. Coconut trees burn down. And I mean all of the coconut trees. You see balls on the ground ( coconuts or rocks thrown in the air from the eruption.) it doesn't look good. After you Leave Morgan Woods and come on the main side.( assuming East side of the island vs west side of one side of the other mountains vs the other side) is Digros? ( another mountain area?) Digros next on the movie ( the video he took or looking like a disaster movie) Then Richmond next on the movie. If Soufriere continues. If Soufriere continues we are not going to make it so good so who can pray, including me, pray.
Thanks 😄

I watched it about 10 times since it first dropped!
For those who don't understand the dialect, he refers to the reporter as "Jed" - meaning partner/buddy/friend
"Yo ovahs"? - you understand?
"Yo check"? - you understand?
He says that the land is no longer fit for farming. The volcano erupted on Friday morning, he was cooking when they heard the first BOOM and he, the neighbours and his 3-legged dog ran, but he came back to finish his cooking. He still stayed in the area Fri night and Sat night because he wanted to look after his animals and he also didn't expect the eruption to continue for so many days.
