    What a pity that you didn't play the new fortepiano sounds. I was very curious about that.
    And as a very happy and proud owner of an AvantGrand N1X I'm very interested why Yamaha had to re-sample the CFX voice - and to know what is the difference now between the old and the new CFX sound? I suppose they did some more justice and dynamics to the bass end! :)

      I feel like the 785 has a lighter key action, the sound system is better and the keys have counterweights. Overall, if you can get a 775 at a good price I still think it is a good digital piano. With that said, I do prefer the key action, touch sensitivity and sound of the 785. Also, good luck getting a 775 in the US, as far as I know they don’t offer it in the US.

    • @msromike123
      @msromike123 3 года назад +9

      Well the CA99 and Novus NV-5 have a terrible buzz in the soundboard. We had a CA99 and traded up to the NV-5, no dice. We are working on getting money back from Kawai dealer. So Yamaha it is. It doesn't matter the features if there is a basic design flaw. Very disappointed, we wanted so much to love the Kawai.
      UPDATE: Money back, full refund, CVP-805 en-route. Thank goodness Kawai dealer was willing to take both pianos back. Very stressful 2 month experience with Kawai. Repairman to the house, forgetting parts, installing parts that didn't help. Questions like, "Do you have a TV in the same room as the piano?"

      @@vichna_slava_ukraini I also wanted the CA99, as it is generall revieved as a very nice piano on RUclips. However, seing how many people have quality problems with their products(you'll find whole forums dedicated to issues with the CA-series) I would never buy one again. If it already breaks today, guess what happens in a few years down the road... My local dealer basically confirmed this, saying that they got many returns also from the older CA series. Seing that Kawai had these issues earliert but were not able to fix it, is a clear sign of bad quality mgmt in m opinion. Recently got the Yamaha CLP-785. The action is a tad heavier (which can be good or bad),and also the low notes make the piano body resonate more in the CA99. In everything else though, the Yamaha surpasses the CA99 in my opinion. The Yamaha and Bösendorfer samples sound nicer than the SK-EX samples, but I'm aware that is fully subjective. It's a shame, as I really wanted to like the CA99. But for me it seemed most RUclips channels overhype it (it makes sense for them), as most of them also sell it :) Tbh: Even if the Kawai did not have these quality issues, seeing how the Yamaha plays, I would not go back to the Kawai. Good lucky finding the right piano! :)

    Hi, I am unable to decide between KDP 110 and Rp 501r/ 302, (and may be Yamaha ydp 164) . Frankly the Roland sound is not at all pleasing to me. I love the kawai timber. But Roland has escapement in its action and few other features. Should I be choosing Action over sound?? Need your valuable suggestions on this. My usage is mainly for contemporary, classical, jazz pieces and most importantly for songwriting and vocal accompaniment. Hoping to receive a reply.

    I have played the 785, NU1X and N5. The 785’s touch doesn’t come close to the other two true hybrids. It’s great on all other accounts, butI’ll rather an N5 or NU1X for the far superior touch.

      What's your opinion, if you would compare CSP 170 and this CLP 785 ?

    • @josephbergsten935
      @josephbergsten935 3 года назад +24

      I just got my CLP 785 2 weeks ago and I love it. I was looking at the NU1X and The CLP 785 before I chose the 785. I played the NU1X for over an hour and I also played the CLP 785 and a Yamaha acoustic baby grand (I don’t remember the model) at the same time. This is my humble opinion. The NU1X has a key action that feels exactly like an upright Yamaha U1 acoustic piano. The sound was very good, and it was a really pleasing instrument to play. The CLP 785 does have a lighter key action than the 685, and it was much closer to feeling like the acoustic grand piano that I played. Was it the same as an acoustic grand? No, but impressively close. I ultimately went with the 785 because I feel like it offered better samples (CFX and Bosendeorfer), a slightly better sound system, and if you are trying to duplicate the key action of a grand piano, it is closer to a grand piano feel. For myself and my 2 children who are learning piano, I needed the benefits of playing quietly with a digital piano while still having a good key action and all of the great learning tools available with a digital piano. Yes, they love the 100’s of voices, and if that gets them to sit down at the piano every day and be creative before they do their regular practice, I am a fan. Ultimately, I would prefer a hybrid with a true grand piano action, but I din’t want to pay $3000 + more dollars to get a hybrid with a grand piano action. I almost went for the NU1X, but I didn’t as it was about $800 more and I felt like I was still able to play beautiful expressive music with a very good key action on the 785. I hope that is helpful.

Now i'm gonna use my CLP 785 as a midi keyboard just because the keys are so fine and great to play. Still, with my Mackie speakers and Kontakt Chroma piano, it beats the sound of the 785 dramaticly.

    Hybrids have to be eating away at acoustic piano sales in as big way. Especially in the home market which I assume is THE dominant market. Where all the sales are made.
    Most people buy a piano without considering ideal placement for the best acoustics. As there are bad locations in any room. People end up putting their new hi dollar pianos in areas that make the sound "worse". And some might notice wondering why it sounded better in the showroom. But with a hybrid, once you put on a good set of headphones placement in a room and room acoustics are no longer important. It's when you rely on the pianos speakers where there might be a slight tradeoff in perceived sound quality. Which I suspect most buyers wont notice anyway.
    Being able to place a grand where you choose to in a room is one PLUS no one's mentioned in any video. Which you did with your 785...placing it away from a wall Don't know if it was sitting on a carpet (more important for an a grand).
    Great demo. Excellent choice of demo material.
