Oh 100% my neck of the woods also! I’ve been to all those spots. The other thing you should’ve seen in Laurel Hill State Park was at the Pump House Trail pond and Dam built by the CCC boys
All my old stomping grounds! Used to work at Powdermill Nature Reserve in the early 1980s, which is just over the hill from Linn Run. Rappelled at Beam Rocks several times, learned to ski at Laurel Mt, met my hubby at Seven Springs. I’ve lived in SW PA nearly all of my life & always enjoy trips to the woods, although my knees & hips make it a bit more challenging these days. Welcome to my backyard!
I reside along Mountain Road in the Haws Pike section of Laurel Highlands off Route 56. I'm 29 now but even as a child I walked the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail 👣 . Bobcat are plentiful. Beautiful Finches and Cardnials. 4 Generations of Mountain Folk. ⛰️
I camp in all of those camp grounds in the Laurel Highlands. Being from Pittsburgh thanks for the walk thru Cliff makes me want to take a drive there today 😊
Great video, Cliff! My wife and I spent a lot of time on those same trails. Laurel Summit is basically a picnic pavilion and a parking lot for the trailheads going into Forbes State Forest. Wolf Rocks is a really good hike. We love Spruce Flats Bog, reminds us a little of Dolly Sods in WV. There are a lot of great trails at Laurel Hill. Definitely worth exploring more. I think Laurel Hill is underrated, being overshadowed by its close proximity to Ohiopyle. Anyway, nice to see you make it out to western Pennsylvania! Sorry for the rain...
For many years that area has been my halfway stop along my West to East drives and back. I wish I'd seen this vid 30 years ago. Ft. Ligonier is also nearby. It's one of my favorite forts, and Laurel Hill is one of my favorite campgrounds.
What a beautiful area that is. I love the smell of rain. The colours are gorgeous. Your snake was lovely the pattern is lovely. Walking in the rain is fantastic. Thanks for taking me along. Please stay safe and take care
That was very nice. Those giant trees occupy the entire canopy above and keep other trees from growing. That's probably why there's so much open space underneath to look around and walk. The parks you showed us here should be protected and kept as is forever. It's medicine for when one wants to collect his thoughts. Again very nice, Cliff. Thanks for taking us along.
Hi Cliff, some very beautiful area's you visited, a shame about the rain but it does really heighten the different smells of the forest environment and of course rain is needed by all the plants and animals too. Thank you for sharing, much love. xx 💖🌺🦋
Actually Frank Lloyd Wright built Falling Water for the Kaufmann family. I spent the afternoon on a self-guided tour there about 2 weeks ago. But, you are right, it's an awesome highlight near Ohiopyle.
Sarracenia purpurea....northern pitcher plants!! A rare sight indeed ! They trap bugs in the pitchers, which are still developing at the point you were visiting. The flowers are so unique as well. Sundew are very tiny, the size of quarters, so you have to get down to view those. What a treat! I have a carnivorous plant collection at home, tend to geek out about these things haha! Beautiful area, I am definitely going back to revisit there! Thank you!
Gorgeous flowers & the Hemlock trail did look very mystical! I loved this adventure in the rain. Thanks so much for this amazing trip. Enjoying it very much. Good idea sleeping in jeep if still raining like it was. Take care.🥰
Thanks for hittin the Laurel Highlands & exploring our amazin parks, I go hiking in the area a lot - Laurel Mountain State Park is my fave, Summit & Spruce Run Trails are great little hikes & guess I'll have to check out that bog!
Great video! I just discovered your channel. I also make trip/camping vlogs on my channel (along with other stuff). My husband and I are planning a trip to the Laurel Highlands soon, so this video was really helpful! SO many state parks in such a small area - fabulous place to travel to :)
I grew up here and spent my childhood exploring every nook and cranny in Beams Rock. It was not nearly as developed and well maintained when I was a kid. No graffiti either.
I have two Columbine plants that is what I have been told they are, one is light pink the flowers area rather layered and puffy and one in dark purple, supposed to be native to Windsor but you never know......
'there is a beauty to this n d rain' * u said reminds meof?? Ireland we had mor rain than sun n nast 5wks bjut liked d trees n shelter Well done whow ur bravery wins n Nature usa
When you went the wrong way looking for the falls at Linn Run, did you get as far as the ruins of the old hunting lodge? I hope you got to see them. If not, maybe another day. Also, Beam rocks gives a pretty decent sunrise if you catch it on the right day! Wolf Rocks is also very beautiful! Definitely a longer hike out and back than Beam Rocks.
Cliff would you happen to know what happened to the state park by Linesville spillway? It used to be a beautiful park and had a nice nature center. They closed it years ago and had a sign saying closed for construction. They tore down the nature center and were supposed to build a new but they never did. I was there last year and it's all grown up and the trail is closed. I've tried researching it but haven't been able to find anything on it.
wow Love this is the America i saw some of in new England Sla'inte means good health /cheers Sl'an Abhaile mean safe home n Irish Gaeilge language so like parts of d West of Ireland Brian
I love hiking in the rain, it keeps bugs and people away.
It’s
Fascinating how everything in the woods is ten times greener after a rain storm, this one I watch over and over , thank you
The red plant you saw at the Bog was the Red Pitcher plant, Sarracenia Rubra. This is also a Carnivorous plant.
about a mile past adam's falls you would of come to a little store called Barb's country store, that would be my sister and her husband's store.
My neck of the woods. I bet this was the same weekend I was camping at Kooser. These are all my favorite spots.
Thank you Cliff I have a bad heart and can not get out but walking with you its like being there. Thanks

That last forest was amazing. Hiking is a forest during a rain is a great way to see the greenery. Thanks for sharing.

Wolf rocks, spruce run trail, summit trail, fish run trail, black bear trail, that’s my favorite area.
The rain adds to the natural beauty of the forests.
There is another bog at Black Moshannon State Park. I have been there many times. It's fun to go every couple weeks and watch the bog blossom.
For many years that area has been my halfway stop along my West to East drives and back. I wish I'd seen this vid 30 years ago. Ft. Ligonier is also nearby. It's one of my favorite forts, and Laurel Hill is one of my favorite campgrounds.
Wow, thank you for showing this!! I didn't know this was in PA!! That looks amazing. I saw a similar summit in the Carolinas🏞
Lol it’s hard to keep all the “Laurels” straight! The color is different in the rain.
Next time check out Ligonier. We have a unique diamond in the middle of town plus Fort Ligonier.
Some Videos this Well Done moved to tears
Beautiful parks. The hemlocks, waterfalls just all the natural beauty.

Hope you do more on the French Indian war. This area is rich with it.

Falling Water is near Frank Wrights home near Ohiopyle

Clift, the hemlock trail was fantastic, rain or shine! Thanks.
Thanks for visiting some of my favorite state parks somewhat close to me.
My wife & I got engaged at Beams Rocks

We've been dry and windy for a while now. I wish you could send some rain this way. You're right about there being beauty in the rain.
Rain or not, it was beautiful and I loved it thank you so much!😀

Imagine when the sun comes out.
The columbines look similar to a native flower here in Australia we call Christmas bells as they flower late in the year

Apply Rain X or Aquapel to Naomi's windshield, Cliff! Agree that the rain and fog augment this video.
Thank you!

The nice thing about the state parks in PA is they are free. Here in Colorado they want to charge you to enter them.
I have two Columbine plants that is what I have been told they are, one is light pink the flowers area rather layered and puffy and one in dark purple, supposed to be native to Windsor but you never know......

Laurel Caverns is worth a visit (if open). And Fort Necessity.

Don't remember getting to any ruins.
At 22:22, it would be cool to be there when tht piece of rock the water is flowing over falls.
My stomping grounds
Do you know if any bodies were found in the bog? I know the bogs in England as well as in Florida preserved ancient people.
Cliff would you happen to know what happened to the state park by Linesville spillway? It used to be a beautiful park and had a nice nature center.
