Have the cfw updates actually been released yet or just teased? I've not looked since I released this vid. All there was before was hacks to change icons, boot animation and get rid of the Muzak in menus (but not the horrible wet sploosh noise when scrolling). 🤣
@@handheldgaming4life true CFW will not come anytime soon (probably not before stock drivers are fully understood, reverse-engineered and rewritten), but you can already have a modded firmware which can load more emulators for systems like PCEngine, updated picodrive with Segacd/Game Gear and (slow) 32x support and quite a bit more, including partial fix for tearing. Having said all of that MM+ is of course much better choice if one can afford to spend the extra.
Dropped a couple of videos recently with hardware that can do those things and more and they can be found for the same cash as a SF2000 of you're lucky.
That's fine. The SF2000 isn't the unicorn device a lot of people thought it was. Hopefully the small team working on hacking it can get more FPS out of it then it might be worth actually gaming on.
In my experience, this is amazing for the price. I've bought several and have paid vetween $10-$17 each. One of the models i ordered was red. The firmware was extremely slow and could barely navigate the menu. I flashed it using a new sd card and it works perfectly. SNES is flawed but not bad for kid's or to use without the worry of it breaking. Also, not making excuses but Yoshi's Island has to be the mist demanding SNES game right? I think most other games work decent after the SNES restart trick.
It's certainly got a lot of room to improve. New Dpad membrane. Firmware that actually has features you need like brightness control. I don't mind that it can't run SNES well, but I'd expect it to run Mega Drive at full speed.
@@handheldgaming4life yeah for sure on the dpad, I find myself using the joystick in more cases than usual, but it's not bad. Both are significantly better and more capable, but I'm almost afraid to use them in some cases just because these cheaper handhelds aren't known for their build quality. To me it comes down to how cheap you can get the SF2000 for. At less than $15 it's stocking stuffer worthy. It's better than the $20 400 in 1 game consoles you see at Walmart.
I guess that's one of the positives. I did download a decent ROM set with it for my Miyoo Mini+ a couple of days ago. The bling about doing a retrospective into my arcade gaming history. As a kid of the 80's I played through some of the real glory days. 👌
First thing I do with all these cheap handhelds that come with a "free" card. 🤣. I dunno if perhaps SF2000 quality has dropped since the first reviews dropped 4 months ago, maybe! Updating isn't the worst, its just writing an img file to an sd card, but getting the bloody update was a nightmare. I have got it now though so if you need it let me know and I'll share a fast link.
4 or 5 years ago far more expensive handhelds really struggled with SNES. I'm writing this 4 months later than this video and just after the latest custom firmware was announced with half decent GBA gameplay possible. To call this handheld a con is laughable. This is a true bargain for people wanting to dip their toe into handheld emulation for a fraction of the cost of Miyoo Mini Plus. I got my SF2000 for just over 12$ including shipping. I have many handhelds going back as far as the one that started it all the GP32. This is by no means a great handheld but for the money it really is a steal. ruclips.net/video/bjTBpvCXUZA/видео.html
I've got as GP2X. The SF2000 might have cost a lot less but its not moved the game on at all. The thing is, for me, the price isn't entirely what justified the device. Its what it can do too! So at $12 its a waste of money because it doesn't do very much very well. Increasing you're budget, and not by very much, gets you much more capable handhelds. Time will tell if the modders can get any more out of the SF2000 but as it currently stands its little more than a cutesy curio that doesn't play games all that well.
I believe you said you paid £37 for your miyoo mini + (An exceptional price, did that indlude shipping?). I agreee the Mini + is a great starter handheld but even at £37 it is over 3-4 x the cost of the SF2000. I have read of people paying as little as $8. It truly is a bargain for collectors, kids or first timers wanting to try emulation. Even if you limit yourself to 8 bit consoles it can play GB GBC NES & (SMS unoficially via the MD emulator). There are some truly great games on these systems alone. I think you need to realise that although the SF2000 isn't for you most others disagree and think it's great. @@handheldgaming4life

Whole I've seen the SF2000 occasionally going for under £10 that's AliExpress without vat added, that's now charged when paying and usually has a £5+ delivery charging which soon puts the device close to £20. In fact the Anbernic RG nano can now be picked up for about the same price on sale, and while it's tiny it's still a considerably better handheld than the SF2000.

There is an updated 0.10 hacked firmware you might want to try. I'll review it in due course.
@@handheldgaming4life Ah, cheers dude. This handheld isn't exactly what I want but it might be fun to tinker with it.
I agree that you money would be better spent on something else if you want a good handheld, however, what it does do well is the tv out jack. With the external controllers you can get for it, it is a fun experience. It actually doesn't look bad, and probably would be great on a crt. I think that a custom firmware could fix the snes performance (the fact you have to exit and restart the game to make it run at full speed is annoying) and some of the arcade games aren't quite full speed, but I believe that at this price point, it has a lot to offer.
It unfortunately doesn't show at proper resolution on screen though does it? Stretches to 16:9 and over scans. I can try it on a windscreen CRT as I'm fortunate enough to have a old B&O but I can't test 4:3.
@@handheldgaming4life for me, it just shows at 4:3 resolution with black lines on each side. One weird issue I had was some banding, but i switched it to pal mode and that fixed some of the issues. I don't have a crt to test it on, but it worked fine with the correct aspect ratio on my television. I think this could be great on a crt though!
Currently waiting for mine to arrive so can't comment on the console itself, just what I've been watching from a few videos. Honestly my expectations were so low I assumed Yoshi's Island would run even worse, that's one of the most demanding SNES games to emulate. But yeah I kind of agree, the Frog looks horrible as a main handheld, I'm just getting it because I already have a Steamdeck to play at home and I want something cheap I can easily carry around in my pocket.
That's probably it's ideal use case. You certainly won't be disappointed when you realise you've lost it. 🤣
@@handheldgaming4life Jokes on you that was unironically my thought process lol. The thing looks acceptable enough for some short sessions when you're outside and if you lose it, you're losing nothing. It's cheaper than ordering a Pizza here.
@@merluzacongelada5361 if it was the choice of bad pizza or pay a little more for good pizza I know where I'd spend my money. 🤭
@@handheldgaming4life bro got paid by miyoo to make this video
🤣🤣🤣🤣 I wish! I've reviewed one free product ever and that was the DVT Abxylute and I had already put my money down on a production model. One day I might get review units to test but I'm not interested in sponsored controlled videos.
Let's say you buy it for 20$ (could get it a little cheaper). Could you please show me where to get a Miyoo Mini plus for 26$ or even 30$!? 😂
It's true, you can't, but for $40-50 you can with clever shopping. Show me a Miyoo Mini that struggles to emulate basic 16bit consoles? I'd rather push people towards a good gaming experience at an ok budget than cheapest of the cheap with a terrible experience.
These are fine IF you fix them. There are firmware upgrades and the community has provided many fixes. I agree. This is not for the average person. It's a tinkerer's device. You must have gotten a bad one. Mine doesn't have any of the build quality issues that yours has.
Ok then find me a handheld console that can play gba mame and sega for 13$
Dropped a couple of videos recently with hardware that can do those things and more and they can be found for the same cash as a SF2000 of you're lucky.
@@handheldgaming4life i mean for 13$ you can even play doom and wolfenstein and mod it
Don't care what you said i bought this for OmaniRials 1.450, so it's worth it
That's fine.
I haven't seen slow mega drive performance but haven't tested a ton of games.
I have the Miyoo mini and RK2023.
Use custom firmware and it's fixed. Custom skins loaders more emulators ect ect
Care to link to a published custom firmware? Last time I looked there was 1 in the works but it was very rough and wasn't on general release.
Which CFW!?
My biggest issue is NO HEADPHONE SOCKET!
There's probably a reason for that. Volume goes from 0 to 1 to 100 in the tiniest turn of the volume knob. You'd blow your ears out in seconds.
@@handheldgaming4life it's good for megadrive games....
@@lepterfirefall v1.71 of the firmware definitely improves megadrive.
These are great!
Moaning about nothing ! 😂 I'm just excited to see it has Arkanoid Doh it again on there ! And I can use the joystick instead of SHITTY D PADS !
I guess that's one of the positives. I did download a decent ROM set with it for my Miyoo Mini+ a couple of days ago.
The bling about doing a retrospective into my arcade gaming history. As a kid of the 80's I played through some of the real glory days. 👌
Definitely the sd card that's the issue mate ( sorry bro had to ) 🤣🤣🤣🏆💚👊
First thing I do with all these cheap handhelds that come with a "free" card. 🤣. I dunno if perhaps SF2000 quality has dropped since the first reviews dropped 4 months ago, maybe! Or they were sponsored in some way, or other channels were just desperate to review something different and push buyers towards it.
Man, they made that update so complicated 🤦♂️
I didn’t even bother
Updating isn't the worst, its just writing an img file to an sd card, but getting the bloody update was a nightmare. I have got it now though so if you need it let me know and I'll share a fast link.
@@handheldgaming4life I'd like a link please .
@@agemoth You got mail!
Just BIOS Change to 1.71 with all fixes...easy.
@@handheldgaming4life
@@clockworkhippogames I paid 2.5x more for the Miyoo than the Datafrog. And for that increase I got a device that CAN run games at full speed and far more platforms to boot. It also has brightness adjustment, WiFi. Custom over the air updated firmware and far superior build.
Whole I've seen the SF2000 occasionally going for under £10 that's AliExpress without vat added, that's now charged when paying and usually has a £5+ delivery charging which soon puts the device close to £20.
I'd definitely recommend the Miyoo over the SF2000 any day.
In fact the Anbernic RG nano can now be picked up for about the same price on sale, and while it's tiny it's still a considerably better handheld than the SF2000.
It plays Doom at an absolute CRAWL barely runs...I replaced 1 GBA rom and it ran better...trash ROMS
Did you put custom roms into the roms folder or replace the bad roms directly? I'm going to make some time and delve a bit deeper into the SF2000 and see if I can make this "thing" run better.
@@handheldgaming4lifeI put it in the ROMS folder.
I like this for the game Boy Colour games, but if you wanna play any other console on this, then you're gunna to have a bad time. Fair warning the L and R buttons are so annoyingly clicky, and i wouldn't recommend buying this to play this on an airplane (anoy the **** out of everyone around you)
Its a shame, the screen is pretty good, its bright, colourful and crisp. Its just everything else connected to it is half assed. For just a little more money you can get Miyoo Mini+ which is a considerably better device.
Miyoo mini plus's is amazing i play all the time my swich hayts it lols
The Miyoo is just too easy to grab when you want a quick gaming hit. 🥰
🤯🤯😳😳 thats terrible mate sorry is all i can say nobody deserves that 20 dollars or not 💯💯🏆💚👊
The good news is I didn't mind buying it to help others out. I got a few products from Temu. I might do a review of all the stuff I bought. Maybe as a warning on what not to buy.
@@handheldgaming4life definitely mate and helps loads of people im sure once they see mate as not getting a paid/sponsored review and yeah man temu a good one mate watch mad little pixel channel in the us and he did a review on temu it is funny tbf 🤣🤣🤣 hope your well mate 🏆💚👊
His content confuses me. Some is great, some where he's got a product to review but clearly no sponsor and he can be quite harsh and then it puts out glowing reviews of dodgy hard drives full of pirated content and its best thing ever because he can plug it into a PC and play games directly with no effort and still make a 20min video (but they're not sponsored, or at least not declared). I'd actually love to see his review of the SF2000, i've a feeling he's be harsher them me.
@@handheldgaming4life yeah I hear you on that mate definitely just his videos funny sometimes when products piss him off etc 🤣🤣 and yeah definitely not feeling those hard drives mate 💯💯 and I've just upset sombody. I think over this handheld coz I said I'd rather use a potato as a joke and said I watched genuine review of it and they've said it about as useful as one all light hearted and just started ranting saying make a joke in the right context it needs to be funny and this device is very cost effective whatever man some people take it to far was literally a joke bro hope your well mate 🏆💚👊
Your a miyoo mini + fan boy stroke sponsored review miyoo are always sold out so stop chatting boloox
Now that's just incorrect. The Miyoo Mini is indeed out of stock almost all the time. The Mini + is well stocked and available all over.
The SF2000, the bargain at $10 is rarely available at that price and I've seen it spike up to $50 when a few have sold on Temu or AliExpress.
As for fanboy, 🤣, have you seen all the hardware I buy. I'm not really a fanboy. But I am a fan of buying the best tech for a budget.
You shake it and the buttons make a sound? Please buy a original game boy or a psp. Its the same...from big boss companies. And box sounds not good at full loudness? Oh no!!!
They stopped making the PSP in 2014. So yeah a 10year old handheld will rattle as much as a brand new SF2000. 🤣. The PSP is also more capable in emulating than the SF2000. SF only wins on price, and a gaming handheld that does nothing great but is cheap is not a good handheld. 🤷
@@handheldgaming4life i have some Handhelds, Not often used, and they rattle all...
@@Alex.mueller.781 Just checked my late PSP 3000, rattles far less, has far more moving parts.
Nahhh....it good enough for the price...maybe you is rubbish 😂
I enjoy tweaking hardware to get the best out of it, but when the best is still subpar barely able to run close to full speed with maximum frame skipping etc then I just won't recommend. 🤷♂️
@handheldgaming4life you should try latest custom firmware purple neo multicore 0.10
You want to much for 20 bucks. I wish youtube check videos before people make them self look and sound so stupid plus there are firmware updates you can get stupid
I do want too much for $20, in fact I'd rather people spent $40+ for a genuine good experience than waste $20 on ewaste.🤷♂️ I'd rather inform rather than act like a sycophant chasing "buy this it's amazing!" content like I've seen a lot of videos.
100%😂
Sega Genesis runs Perfect. PCEngine runs now with CFW Core Perfect. Atari2600 is also Full Speed. So first invetigate more and then make a Review i think Mate. 😂
