Daniel was fast in RB before but struggled in lesser cars getting worse as time went on. He started OK in Renault but lost his confidence in the "difficult" (Sainz words) McLaren. On tuesday he showed he is still able to get the best out of a good car (RB) but I am afraid he may end up slipping back to 2022 Mclaren type performance as he struggles with the worst car on the grid. It seems he has his confidence back. It would be a pity if AT saps it again. Would have been better if Checco or Max were unwell for a race and Daniel could show what he could do in the RB19.
First one with a sain analysis. Danny is good, really good, in a good car. He is also bad, very bad, in a bad car.
I want the best for Danny, but I think this is the beginning of the end to his F1 career.
It's a toss up on who's worst. A.T. or Alfa.

I feel like it's only a matter of time before we will see Danny back in Red Bull team. Yes, he will be racing for AlphaTauri but Red Bull Racing is definitely up to something here.
IF he gets the chance to drive the Tauri then I agree with you. It will be a test to show what he can do and if checo doesnt perform or retires he is the man to get in. Unless there is another talent coming out of the garage.

Side note I'd give anything to see Hulkenburg get a car worth of his talent. To me, without a shadow of a doubt the most underrated driver on the grid. Was so happy to see him back this year.

@@hubertpierre9507In a car that fundamentally goes against his driving style. That's not a great excuse because he should have been able to adapt, but still.
He might not have been as good as Max, but he's the only one in recent history who consistently held his own against him in a Red Bull. Checo has had his moments for sure, but Danny was way more consistent.
Is he still fast enough? Who knows, but it's still worth a try on RBs part to give him half a season at AT.

Who would have thought Dan would be back so fast lol. I had high hopes for De Vries and I think they should have given him a bit more time, but that being said I think it's an understandable decision. They already have Yuki in there who basically still drives like a rookie and an experienced guy will probably be a good help. De Vries was probably always someone they were unhappy to take and was just what they considered the best option when Gasly left to Alpine.
He will need God's luck to perform in that stagnant Alpha Tauri. Wish him the best ✊

People can and will speculate all they want. Point here is that come end-of-season we'll all know the answer. I am hoping though that he does do well. Just my opinion but he's great for the sport and an exciting driver to watch.

@@Harry_scazza09 Yea but the conditions were bad during qualy so this means nothing. the track wasnt completly dry during qualy.
@@DevilWolf000the track was basically completely dry in Q3 which is what we’re comparing. It’s also rained since the GP so the track would be green. Only difference is tyre compounds and time constraints. Considering he’s not driven in anger since November last year I’d say it’s good going.
What practice session was it? P2?
As the V6 engines trundle down the pitlane on the pit limiter they sound great but at higher rpm under load they sound lack luster.

Imagine what he could have done in that second RB19 with Max. No reliability issues, no performance deficit in powertrain. We could have had a legit HAM-ROS situ.
no we wouldn't. don't forget max was already getting the better of him when max himself was still 19/20, incident and reliability prone, and needed to improve a lot. max is a much much better driver than he was when daniel was last with rb
If you can’t see Max is wayyy better then Danny Ric idk what to tell u .. Max should of been in Gp2 in 2016 maybe even 2017 and 2018 realistically should of been Max first year but they rushed him up from Gp3 into F1 in 2015 which is insane,, I can’t imagine most F2 drivers on the grid much less a F3 driver…

@@elisabethformulabiased I disagree, I I remember correctly when DR was teammates with Max, Max was doing alot of crashing and writing off cars trying to push for that extra 10th to get over Daniel. Don't get me wrong Max is and was quick but I believe they are great for each other pushing each other whilst still friendly.
Also, I don't think you're giving DR enough credit here. I need to point out that he hasn't been in a RB in 5 years and still was able to put himself on the front row just 7 tenths down on Max's British GP quali time, with tyre warmers. So he's definately no slouch, not sure what Checo's time was for British GP, but he wasn't on the front row so that's pretty good for a dude that hasn't touched a RB in many years or at least not weekly. Anyway, just an opinion I guess, Peace.
Hopefully the AT is pointy just how Daniel (and Max) like it. Nico was pretty funny here. lol
This testing might not be significant due to lap time (different track conditions and whatnot) but it could ahow his driving instincts.
After hebwent to redbull from McLaren, theybsaid his instincts were all wrong due to a wrong car. He was constantly breaking in a wrong manner, and was self concious during decisions they should be automatic, so even if laptome here is insignificant, he probably showed that he has his game back.
Well, he can't do any worse than De Vries, so I doubt it matters.
Alpha Tauri needs more redbull parts, like they were quick a few years ago
Yep, they tried to do their own thing and wound up making the worst car on the grid. I'm pretty sure Marko said going forward they'll use as many RB parts as the rules allow next year.

Feel sorry for de Vries but I think he was struggling and obviously RB could see that and decided to answer a few unanswered questions. #1 Has Danny still got it ? #2 Is Yuki good enough ? and #3 they are saying something to Perez, without saying something to Perez. RB cant be sure they will dominate in 2024 and they need a driver that is consistent in the Nr2 seat. Come end of season they would have answered all of the questions, and would only have the question of Lawson left.

Basically, I don't trust RBR. They typically have their one #1 driver and everyone else, other than Horner, Newey and Marko, tend to be pretty expendable depending on the daily situation.

All speculation aside, it's a great period in racing there's some serious talent stocks out there. If you think about it there can only be 1 or 2 (possibly 3) world champions in the next 10 years. Including MV that'll could leave Norris & Piastri that's are genuine contenders at this stage with the rest making up the field. There may be a dark horse out there but not from what I can see from the "current" crop.
Russell, hmmmm...Albon, no... Tsunoda, immature...Leclerc & Sainz definitely not..... Alonso unless they bring in a high speed Mobility scooter, no.... same for the rest.
