CAUTION: the plumber spend almost 4 hours trying to unclog my sink and he found tiny pieces of the metal scrubber blocking it.

I'm trying to decide whether to put in a 1 or 2 basin sink. The second basin is to collect the washed dishes for rinsing. You had to turn on the faucet for every washed dish. That doesn't seem efficient. Seems like the 1st step should be "get a 2 basin sink".

Yes you are right. These single bay sinks are a fad. Aesthetics over function seems to be the trend these days. Nothing against the author of this video as it was probably not her intention or idea.

You just need a dish bucket for soapy water in a single basin sink, this way you still have the big sink, and one bucket for soapy water and one side for rinsing.

@@HomesteadHealingit also saves more water rinsing each dish. I saw a video where a lady used the single bucket for soapy water and just started with very little water and she would rinse her dishes over it and as she progressed the bucket got more full. If the soap bucket got dirty she would just get new water.

Omg yes. I have watched multiple dishwashing methods today and out of the entire mix, this is the one strategy that didn't gross me out. I wouldn't eat off the dishes washed in other vids but yours are truly clean.. You don't scrub your dishes, submerge them into the water and expect them to be clean. You also shouldn't scrub every single dish, fill one side of the sink with soapy dishes, and then rinse them all at once. These methods are lazyyyy. You first clean out your sink, fill one side of the sink with water and a tad bit of soap (to soak, preclean, etc..,) scrub your dishes with a sponge, and then rinse. You can even go as far as to scrub a few dishes at a time and set them in the empty side, and then once you have three or four dishes, you rinse them. Forget how tedious dishwashing is, nobody likes it, but I want to eat off of clean dishes. Your sink is disgusting no matter what you do to it, so act like it. For silverware I tend to wash a cup with my sponge and set it into the empty sink so that only the bottom of the cup is touching, and then I wash each bit of silverware and set it in the cup, this way none of my silverware is in contact with the sink itself. Afterwards, you take all the silverware in your hand and rinse it under running water. I will make this point once more, if the face of the dish (the part that the food touches,) comes into contact with your sink, it is not going to be clean! Finally, if you load your empty side full to the brim with dishes that have been scrubbed, you are washing incorrectly. Wash the dirt and grime away so that it doesn't come in contact with your other clean dishes. Filthy animals
DO NOT PUT YOUR SPONGE IN YOUR WATER RESERVOIR! This water is for dirty dishes, not your cleaning tool.

I use a tub I run my water into since it's easier to keep clean

In my opinion you should not normally use scrub side which is more abrasive for removing stain only , you use it for everything it will scratch your pots even if it's made of stainless steel

I got in an argument with my wife about the proper way to wash dishes. I told her you have to fill up a sink with hot dish soap water and then fill the sink with the dirty dishes. You then wash the dishes and utensils one at a time in the soapy water and stack them on the side to rinse later. This common procedure was alien to her.
She never washed them this way growing up or now. She would use a sponge with a little dish soap on it and wash them one at a time without any hot soapy water filling the sink.
I believe her way was unsanitary.
I set her straight with this video!
