This isn't a win for President Trump, it is a win for the Executive branch, in that it confirms the protection of the office from the abuse we have observed. It was a correct decision by the Court.
No, it’s an incorrect decision. It’s a-textual, and divorced from the plain text of the Constitution. For example, per the impeachment clause, the Founders wrote there that presidents are subject to the criminal law. That, alone, ends the debate. But it didn’t, because the text doesn’t suit the right wing agenda.
Next, the theory doesn’t pass scrutiny in light of our nation’s history and tradition. The U.S. is founded on the principle that Presidents are NOT kings, as our constitutional republic is born from a rebellion against the Crown!!!!! But now, history and tradition doesn’t matter to the right wing Supreme Court majority either.

I do believe that the Supremes haven't ruled on Smith being official or not since that specific item hasn't even been ruled on by a lower court. It is an issue before judge Cannon in Florida. Once she rules, then the appeals will begin and eventually it will make its way to the Supremes.

@sl4983 in order for him to have the position of special counsel, he must have first been "an officer" of the government AND then approved by Congress. Neither step was followed. Garland wasn't authorized to choose any citizen he wanted, nor skip congressional approval.

It's a different process than criminal law. It would need to be adressed via an impeachment.
There are still channels for holding pesidents accountable for treason.

Washington state has removed the residency requirement to vote. They removed it today July 5th 2024. Before to meet the residency requirement, you had to have resided in Washington state for 30 days.
