This is such a fun video! I have the British Library Women Writers collection of short stories called Stories for Winter that I'm saving for January. I want to read Born of Gilded Mountains and The Sittaford Mystery too!
Hi Miriam, I really enjoyed The Silent Woods too! And although I say I don’t care for fantasy I’ve always loved fairy tales and am reading and enjoying The Enchanted Sonata now so much. So I guess I do enjoy fantasy, but just don’t want to get involved in huge long trilogies and so forth when there are so many other things to read. But I do love shorter fairytales and I did love the Narnia books. I guess I love children’s fantasy. Thank you so much! Love all your videos. 😊😊😊
I'm so glad you mentioned Anna Karenina! Im getting my Jan-March TBR books together and have now pulled A K off my shelf to start on January 1st. I appreciate your inspiration Miriam! 📚
These recommendations are 🔥🔥 So many of them are ones I love or ones I want to read. I almost checked out a Rhys Bowen from the library yesterday but it wasn't a title I recognized, so I left it there for now. But I will have to try one soon!
I completely forgot to mention in the video, she does mention some more intimate things about her marriage in a couple journal entries, it may be off-putting but I didn’t feel it was crude or inappropriate. But definitely could’ve done without and wanted to mention it!
After watching your last video, I added The Frozen River to my list! I highly recommend Rebecca but I almost quit reading it. I felt like it was a slow start but really picked up at the half way point and couldn’t put it down after that. Thanks for another great video!
I read Rebecca a few years ago and it was a middle of the road book for me, but I do want to reread it!! I truly believe I will get more out of it upon a reread. Thanks so much for watching!
Always enjoy your videos, Miriam. I don't see you as a likely reader of spy novels, but perhaps for somebody looking on I will mention one I thought was quite well done and whose title evokes winter vibes. It is John le Carré's The Spy Who Came in from the Cold (1963). Its setting is not explicitly winter, but it's definitely a chilling espionage thriller.
Frankenstein for me in January! I have such a wonderfully illustrated edition!❄I read The Snow Child years ago and the story really stuck with me. Wonderful recommendations!💙
Love your list!!! Added so many to my TBR haha 🤪 Ps- Ruta Sepetys’ Between Shades of Grey also goes by the title Ashes in the Snow…. (I’m thinking maybe they changed the title after a certain other book series came out 😳🥴😬)
My comment got dumped for some reason. I said you need to read Master and Man by Tolstoy... highly recrecommend. Lots of snow, redemptive and not at all like Crime and Punishment and it's on Gutenberg.
You revommended so many intriguing books...thank you!❤
Thank you, Miriam!
So many of these are on my Winter TBR! 😊
Secret history and Jamica Inn are so perfect for winter!
Jamaica Inn is on my TBR for next year, so I’ll have to put it on February. Thank you for that tip.
Thanks for the recommendations
I love we both recommended Marmee for the winter!
Look around you 👀 cranking out the videos. I love it! 🎉🎉
I’m so grateful I had some time at the end of November and early December to pre-film! Wouldn’t have been able to do bookmas otherwise!
Ok, you convinced me to read Anna Karenina this winter haha! I have kept thinking about starting for months now📖 ❄️
I hope you love it! Tolstoy is… wordy.. 😂 but man did I love his characters!!

I’ll be reading The Secret History! It’s on my shelf and I didn’t get to it this past fall. This is a lovely, wintery list!

I feel the same about fantasy!

I hope you enjoy it!! It’s on the denser side but has such great characters!
I recently read the last book in the Narnia series, and it was so good!! 🥹 Loved the ending❤

LOL that title change would make sense 😂😂😂
Born of Gilded Mountains is one if the most unique Christian fiction books! It was my first Dykes book.
It truly is so unique!
What’s the book on the shelf behind you with the cardinals on the cover? It’s so pretty!
It’s The Nutcracker! Penguin Christmas Classics edition - a favourite!
Got my hot beverage ☕️

I haven't seen it, but it's on my list!

Ohhhh that sounds so good! Ok I added it to my pile of possibilities even though I already filmed the video 😅thanks Penny!!

Pevear and Volokonsky. :)
