Just noticed that Beta watches the Sunwing fly over and then looks to Aloy on their way to the Cauldron and then gifts Aloy the Sunwing override as they catch Hephestus. Nice set up there
The Varl death scene guts me every single time I see it. Like why couldn't they have come up with an alternative to a team member passing ? I wonder what would happen if Varl was kept alive but was knocked unconscious for a while then able to get back in the fight ? I bet he would've destroyed the Zeniths after their shields were deactivated.🙂
They killed him because likely he's have yhe biggest impact emptionally. Its either him or Erend. @GH-wd8zr

I think it was also the symbol of freedom for Beta. She was born and raised in captivity, to be used merely as a tool. Seeing the wilds, the sunrise, and the free flying Sunwing, were all impossibilities just a few weeks earlier. It let her see, first hand, what was at stake.
This cutscene is LEGEND. I was in complete awe when I first saw it
Same here. Showing Aloy is no longer alone, despite the stakes they up against.
I dread replaying this mission when New Game + finally comes out in the future.

sobbing because I just realized the notes in "who will take my hand" are the same as in the training montage in HZD, the moment when little Aloy almost falls and Rosts helps her 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺

The sad part is Aloy didn't want anyone to take her hand in the flood because she was afraid that someone would drown with her or worse drown instead of her..
Interesting catch, never noticed the lyric change. Does it suggest Aloy's becoming pessimistic in light of the opposition? Or does she expect she'll have to kill Beta to protect her?

I think the key is in the last line, ''tells me who i know'' At the beginning of her journey, Aloy didn't trust anyone to carry the world with her, it was her task and hers alone, so the songs then is saying ''If anything happens to me everything someone would need to follow up its here (or i think that's it)'' instead, now at this point she has a group she trusts with her life, she learned to love Beta like her own sister she never had, she opened up to others and the song is her saying that, when she falls her soul knows who can lean a shoulder for her. So it goes from standing against all odds alone, to trusting other people to have her back in her immense task, she is not alone anymore.
It's quite beautiful.
To see her go from Zero Dawn to now, opening up more at last, something Elisabet never did.
edit; i'm trying to say Aloy feels like she can allow herself to be vulnerable and even fail because she has a support net now, not that she has become pessimistic

I love that Erend and Aloy have a bit of a special moment here. He is her oldest friend now, and for all the comic relief thet Erend brings, there is no doubt that Aloy values and trusts him a great deal. I think Aloy loves all her friends a lot now. She quickly devolped real bonds with Alva and Kotallo, and while Beta had a rough start, they will become very close I have no doubts on this.
But I like that the game shows and validates the friendship with Aloy and Erend here. They fought together before, and now again. Erend was there in the first game, he is here in the second, and he will be there in third. And hopefully survive that..
I think it’s so cute how Beta looks so happy here, it’s like after she reluctantly agrees to go outside for the first time she’s now experiencing the beauty of the world around her and you can see that she’s genuinely happy about what she sees
When I played this the first time I did not think for a second we’d be losing any of these characters
And it had to be the one who never gave up on her. The one she told so many times she didn't want his help because she was scared of losing another loved one trying to protect her. It had to be the one who was always smiling 😭 man, Varl's death just broke my heart
same Aloy and Zo avenging his death was satisfying

That moment just melt my heart. I loved this scene.
As her 'technical' sister, I think Aloy was proud to show Beta the world she was never given an opportunity to see... even if it was being the end of the world type of scenario.
When we first meet Erend he said he was upset Aloy left Meridian without even a goodbye. She remembered that and showed that she cared!

I knew beta would be kidnapped right away when aloy manage to finally gain her trust lol , this wasn't even a shock for me.
when Varl insisted in coming at the beginning i knew he was a dead man walking askdjnaskdjnkdjasn any character who takes extra screen time always dies :c Same with Beta, they would have never added the scene where she asks Aloy to kill her if they weren't planning on kidnapping her in the first place

It’s amazing to think that the actress who play Aloy is also Beta! She does an amazing job of doing both characters so well, with the ways she plays them!

I'm still sad they finally had found their footing and she got kidnapped and after you rescue her the game is done and there are no more interactions between them!!! They really should have had the end credits scene of Aloy and the Sunwing with Beta on it too, This scene is the first time Beta had the opportunity to SEE the world they are saving and- Yeah I got feelings oasdnaskljdnkldnm
i am guessing Horizon 3 will have their relationship play a major role in it. So they are saving it for later.
If you play the burning shores dlc and do other side quests and go back to the base once in a while there are more interactions between the two

I think, "who will take my hand in the flood" is not a question anymore in this part of the story because she now knows "who will take [her] hand" and doesn't question anymore "who can take my hand...?"
It is true that Beta reluctantly agreed to go on this mission, during the trip to the cauldron, Beta is genuinely happy, seeing for the first time the world they are trying to save.
For the first time Beta experiences the world, seeing that not everything is as bad as she thought, for once she looks happy, it's a shame that the Zenith will ruin the moment and make her go through hell.
