F.A.Q Section Q: Do you take aircraft requests? A: I have a list of aircraft I plan to cover, but feel free to add to it with suggestions:) Q: Why do you use imperial measurements for some videos, and metric for others? A: I do this based on country of manufacture. Imperial measurements for Britain and the U.S, metric for the rest of the world, but I include text in my videos that convert it for both. Q: Will you include video footage in your videos, or just photos? A: Video footage is very expensive to licence, if I can find footage in the public domain I will try to use it, but a lot of it is hoarded by licencing studies (British Pathe, Periscope films etc). In the future I may be able to afford clips :) Q: Why do you sometimes feature images/screenshots from flight simulators? A: Sometimes there are not a lot of photos available for certain aircraft, so I substitute this with digital images that are as accurate as possible
Great video Rex - Spanish aviation was setting a number of international records during the inter war years - also the Hispano engine was produced at their factory in Barcelona- it had been one of the key weapons of WW1
Being Spanish and an aviation enthusiast it was very interesting to learn about this plane! Hopefully some more successful designs like the HA200 Saeta and CASA 212 can be covered in the future
Yes. The Super Saeta. One of very few designs to put the jet in front and make it a visual refinement like BMW grills etc, especially with the gunnels over top of the cowl.
I know I'm really going to love this series. 5 to 10 minutes to learn something you didn't know before is excellent. Sometimes I don't have more than 10 minutes and as much as I love the long videos crammed with information sometimes a short video with lots of information is even better. Great job keep it up
Having an intimate relation with the "Fighter", this is the first I have heard about the Spanish version. It begs information of the Bristol-Spanish-business relationship. Fantastic work Rex !!!! I can not wait for more!
I enjoyed the short format - it makes for a casual, quick watch. Nice to have some short format and some long format stuff, so I can watch whatever my time and mood allows. Well done.
Your decision for a mini-aircraft review made chuckle a bit; Drachinfinel always claims he does "5 Minutes of Warships", though somehow that frequently spins out as much as 30! Take as long as you need! I always enjoy your talks!
My grandfather, Alfred Atkey, flew the F2B in 1918. There’s an F2B at the Canadian Aviation Museum in Ottawa and my and mother and uncle donated his combat records to add the collection. There’s some strange and shocking stories that didn’t make it into the records.
@@MM22966 Two against twenty. Google that first. The event is not in dispute. However, there is something very odd and unusual about the event that hasn’t been questioned. It took me a lifetime to figure out the right question to ask. Have a look and tell me what you think.
I like the shorter videos as I am often pressed for time to watch everything I want to watch. I wish I was paid to study history, but alas it is only a hobby.
What a lovely idea! And, if you do not mind, I would like to suggest the Fokker G.1 heavy fighter of the 1930s. It's plenty interesting enough for this shorter format, but does not have quite enough service history for your usual (and much beloved) novella length.
Rex would you consider doing a small one on the Curtiss P6-E Hawk? Always a beautiful yet quite enigmatic and often overlooked aircraft and favorite of both myself and my late father.
Hey Rex hope you are doing great. Much love from the Netherlands. Also do you plan on covering the handley page halifax? As it is an overlooked bomber.
five minute guides to...? hmmmm. sounds familiar. and is a very good idea! sidebar: there is nothing too unusual about the F2B being used to (ahem) "show the locals who's boss" with various and sundry weaponage in brit empire service, either. (infamously, Iraq)
G'day, Considering that it was still a mid-gap Biplane, with the same Wings...; the altered Tailfeathers and tarted-up Rear-Fuselage Covering hardly appear to be worthwhile bothering to fiddle with. And the 300 Hp Hispano couldn't make it fly as well as the unaltered BrisFit did with it's 270 Hp Rolls Royce Eagle, eh ? How very unsurprising. When it ain't broke, Don't go tryin' t' "Fix" nothin' about it. Just be happy with What Works...(!). It's a principle which applies remarkably well, to very many things...; as it turns out. Such is life, Have a good one... Stay safe. ;-p Ciao !
Even though performing less than the F2B, it seems the Spaniards had a good design aesthetic much like the Italians. Love coming across your video gems, enlightening as always.
What strange airfoil sections this plane has (1:12) -- flat in the center, with the leading edge bent down to a point, and the trailing edge, well, just weird. I expect that a wing section like this would be very inefficient (that is, with a poor lift to drag ratio) and would be very prone to sudden stall. The thing is, most biplanes from WW1 and in the immediate post-war era had wing section like this. Maybe those builders knew something we don't. Otherwise it's really odd how many wings were built with that shape.
Shorter format is a success for me Rex - there are times when I don't have an hour or so to listen to longer videos (and it's not just you that does them)
Bet you can't eat just one! Interesting but way too short. Was expecting a meal but got a snack. However the aircraft didn't deserve more than that.🤠 🛩
The problem with Spain in those years was the complex political situation... with the second republic and the left and right parties making their own militias.

If you're doing unknown aircraft then here's some:
The IA-38 and the Zhuchenko vertoplan.
Definite feel of a Drachnifel 5 minute warship guide, even down to the ‘broken up for scrap’ punchline.
Aww you beat me to it! But about time for an aircraft version guide tho
I am super excited for this series! The lesser known planes are always the most intriguing and sometimes most visually appealing
Great video Rex - Spanish aviation was setting a number of international records during the inter war years - also the Hispano engine was produced at their factory in Barcelona- it had been one of the key weapons of WW1
"Nobody expects the Aeronáutica Militar VI!"

Titalmente de acuerdo
y no olvidamos el increíble Juan de la Cierva ! The inventor of the Autogyro...
Le has dado en el clavo!
Being a human I am always interested when a human posts a video……about anything.
Yes. The Super Saeta. One of very few designs to put the jet in front and make it a visual refinement like BMW grills etc, especially with the gunnels over top of the cowl.
I am always interested in learning about the more unknown/obscure aircraft in aviation history. I look forward to your future videos on this subject.

I like the addition of short lesser known planes videos. As always great content!
Gran historia sobre este curioso avion español saludos desde Argentina
I like the concept Rex, as always your research is accurate and well presented. Thanks for what you do!

I love the idea of these shorter reviews to complement your longer ones!
Great kick off to the new series! Looking forward to seeing what you cover next, as always

I like the new series. Sometimes I have small time gaps so, I'm always looking for quality vids to fill them. This you have done admirably!
I like the spanish roundel
It’s cool
5 minute -ship- plane reviews? Sounds great, looking forward to more.
I like the shorter videos as I am often pressed for time to watch everything I want to watch. I wish I was paid to study history, but alas it is only a hobby.
It's like a love child between a Bristol fighter and a Nieuport.

Excellent idea. Keep it up please, also in longer format if possible. Thank You.
Thanks for the great video, Rex.
Do you plan on giving an overview of the swiss K+W C-35 ad C-36?
Hi Rex, I've made a few drawings of the Bristol F2B, but I haven't found suitable reference photos of the above Spanish varient.
I like the new format interesting subject short enough to not take up a lot of time time.
Yes Rex, i like the idea of mini docs on unusual aircraft 👍
Siebel Si-204 could be quite canny, the Fw187 as well.
Very good video. Thank You Sir.
Spanish Bristols, interesting little video, I hadn't heard of these.
Your version of"The 5 Minute Guide...more or less."
My country aeronautical story is very overlooked, thanks for this amazing video!
Thanks, Rex. Looking forward to more of these.
Rex would you consider doing a small one on the Curtiss P6-E Hawk? Always a beautiful yet quite enigmatic and often overlooked aircraft and favorite of both myself and my late father.
A 5 minutes guide (more or less) to airplane? I wonder how long it will takebto get a 2h one 😁
Hey Rex hope you are doing great. Much love from the Netherlands. Also do you plan on covering the handley page halifax? As it is an overlooked bomber.
Even if it performed worse this is a very elegant plane. I believe the engines power to weight ratio was in the lower end.
I love the cartoonish rudder
Hey Bristol, that is what a 'good' looking tail looks like. Get my drift.
Me being jebaited to think that the video would be in spanish KEKW. Grettings from latam Rex

Great video, Rex...👍
Still wish it was the 30 minute format. :) You do great work.
I hope there would be more of these short videos and will you talk about the j21 it seems to be a successful pusher aircraft design during ww2.
Interesting type.
Even though performing less than the F2B, it seems the Spaniards had a good design aesthetic much like the Italians. Love coming across your video gems, enlightening as always.
Note when you gave the weight in pounds you gave the gross weight but the weight in kilogrammes was the empty weight.
Sharp a short, not bad.
A.M.E VI looks similar to the American berliner-joyce p-16 IMO.
Great new series. Would love some fokker interwar designs.
Mustard gas? Spicy bombs!
Thanks

About strange types.., how about Romanian built and named IAR 79, in fact a Savoia-Marchetti SM79 with differrent engines and stuff... Interrested?
Interesting thank you
Nice!
I like Spanish. My mum said it gave you a good run for your money!
I like the shorter videos
I see Lamblin radiators!
Ah, Forgotten Warplanes. I like it.
Bet you can't eat just one! Interesting but way too short. Was expecting a meal but got a snack. However the aircraft didn't deserve more than that.🤠 🛩
The poison gas incidently procured with the help of Germany.
Is that a door on the side under the rear cockpit?
I like the shorter format and have always had an interest in inter-war aircraft. Looking forward to more.
👍👍👍
@ 2.44 2700 lbs is 1224 kg.
The problem with Spain in those years was the complex political situation... with the second republic and the left and right parties making their own militias.
I thought the title was translated when I read "Aeronáutica"
"I give you my word as a Spaniard!"
"No good. I've known too many Spaniards."
What's that there on the left-hand side of the fuselage at the gunner-observer's position??
Bomb- arms- rack I'm guessing?
@@emjackson2289 mmm, could be.
My guess is camera mounting rack. I've seen photos of WW1 recon planes with cameras in that position.
@@crazypetec-130fe7 yeah, that makes more sense I guess
You don't get much more obscure than the Spanish Air Force.
I apologise for the pedant in me, 120mph is what km/h?
It's a lot slower 🤔
Similarly, 2700 lbs is rather more than one metric ton. (About 1200 kilos, not 875 kg.)
Try listening!
Why just 1 machine gun and none for the pilot?
Fun fact
Bristol F2b was better plane than Polish reconesance airplanes made after 1930
It's cute. I'm sad it did poorly.
paella powered
That radiator placement plus flying duties over colonies? Can you say "ground fire"? What a badly thought-out concept.
I'll forgive all the dumb stuff considering it's design date.
First
God darn it!
Thanks to Biden/Kamala's inflation, I can no longer afford to fly... let alone buy food.
