firstly if the wrong gear was selected it cant be the drivers fault because its a sequential gearbox is not suppose to miss a gear, secondly that motor can handle 12000 rpm because it was built to for 4bar boost. these things happen in motorsport and if we rejoise in ones downfall then thats not sportsmanship. keep in mind that Boba's comeback will be twice as hard and most proberly in 7sec bracket. back to the drawing board chaps. I'll be waiting for your return. VW Forever.
Jacques Fontein it's not a sequential box, it's a normal gearbox, with a dog gearset, with a sequential shifter, unlike a sequential gearbox. Look it.up.

How does that happen ?
he shifted down instead of up, he was going for third, but got into first. shorter gear means engine spins faster in the same speed, so at that point, when he accelerated to the limiter in second gear and accidentally got into first, the engine has been spun up to over 10 000 RPM. it is impressive than he managed to get that engine working over 8000 rpm, but in such high rpm as over 10 000, due to (most probably) the valves not having enough time to return, they collided with the piston coming from below, and due to the over rev being really severe, the engine probably sent the valve through the piston, and teoretically even the conecting rod has ripped apart the entire engine block...

getting a volkswagen two litre turbo engine over 8 000 RPM is not an easy task, so no wonder it blew up over 10 000 RPM. volkswagens are much more torquey from nature than hondas. honda engine is made to work in higher rpm, since it has less torque, so in misshift situation it will probably blow up anyway

Tony Schloenvoigt an dem Auto ist nur noch die Karosserie VW, außerdem ist es keine Seltenheit, dass bei solchen PS Monstern, die dazu auch noch so gefordert werden, die Komponenten nicht sehr langlebig sind (z.b. turbos oder sogar ganze Motoren), da einfach solche massiven Kräfte auf die Teile einwirken

Schon genug R32/34 oder Supras gesehen die sich das Getriebe durchhämmern, also warum sollte es am Hersteller liegen, wobei Getriebe, Schaltung und Motor eh nicht mehr original sind
