- My 25 minutes video of the crossing between Dover in England and Calais in France by truck using a P&O ferry-boat, The Pride of Burgundy...
The video includes images from Dover surroundings, Dover city, Dover docks, the whole check in process, inside the Ferry and Calais docks.
as a former international driver, I often enjoy seeing the sites again; thank you for uploading this
Soon I am going with ferry from Dover to Calais. I was afraid of all boarding process, thanks for this video. It is a great help!
Nice to see real places that i drive in Euro Truck Sim 2. Good work!
I wish they had done the ports more realistically though, literally one road in and your on the vessel
Ports could be a lot better for sure, still love ETS though
Thanks for uploading this video Pumizo amazing to see what it's like for all the many lorry drives going across the channel from Dover.
I did this trip to Paris on a school trip in 2011; the ferry crossing is a great service.

Simas
Ive been on a ferry quite few times going from the uk to poland. The experience you get in a truck is completly different than in a normal car. For a truck you have to go through some different thing lile weighting the truck. I went in the p&o ferry once or twies however i use the dfds more often. Prefebly the p&o ferry is more comfy for me than the dfds but more dfds ferries go to dunkrik and all the p&o go to calies.
beautiful video
hey please keep posting good job
Bardzo fajny filmik, świetnie zrobiony. Szerokości!
Great video! At the beginning of the video a lady at the BP garage told me to walk up that junction to get to Eastern Docks -_- Lucky for the port police.. Honestly, Dover - Calais isn't the same since SeaFrance went into administration, used to love travelling with them!
Wish I would have joined you on that trip!! Very educational, who knows I might be there driving a truck one day myself!! ;-)
Fantastic!
Thank you for this video
Thank you, glad you like it...
I love this video...I hope I can move from the US to the UK by next year and hopefully drive a truck :)
nice video.
Un gran video pumizo!! Desde casa ya podemos conocer la ruta desde dover-calais.
Gracias. S@lud22
You can travel alone on the ferry to France at 16. It's so so cheap! Get the train to Dover, cycle down to Dover Eastern Docks and then travel on the ferry. Travel with a bicycle it's alot cheaper it's actually £15 to Dunkerque one way and £19.50 to Calais one way.
Personally, I love taking the ferry! It's a great experience, mind it is abit expensive onboard it is if you get the early morning ferry and buy breakfast lol! Better than flying anyday!
@TGXtrucker It depends, usually on a busy day like that one you took around 20 minutes to do the whole check-in process. The big waiting happens when a Ferry it's not ready or docked. However there are several boats and companies operating that canal crossing. Usually you take 2 hours to do the whole crossing.
Excellent video, I will travelling to Dunkerque from Dover in a couple of months. I will be cycling and I will be arriving on the train. I will be filming the journey from Dover Priory Station and throughout the whole trip, cycling down to the port, checking in, boarding the boat and locking my bike up and touring the boat. You should check it out
How Interesting Thankyou
As an ex truck driver of 40 years, 27 of which were international, I've lost count of the times I've been through Dover. I've seen it change in lots of ways over time, not all for the good.
Thank you for your words. I'm an ex driver too, but only with 10 years in duty. I have a lot of respect for people like you, because everything was different back then and harder too.
Very nice, I prefer the Ferry to the train any day ... and P&O are great too ! POB is a nice ship, a conversion I believe .. not as nice as the Pride of Calais though ! A very old ship, shame they're replacing her.
very good video, I can tell you that of all the videos I've seen on the port of Dover and Calais, this one is the most complete video now showing up your arrival and entry into port, their entry into the ship, and the interior of the ship had not seen the inside, I appreciate this video so well made, very complete and enjoyed a ship that has everything in lots of fun, food and even shopping.
I wonder how long it takes to cross from uk to france?
a big hug greetings from Brazil
Good job
thanks for your help man
Amazing video! Really True Story! :D
@RSSe7en2011 Thank you mate, glad you like it. The main objective of my videos it's precisely that one. Give an idea to people of a day-by-day usage of a TIR truck.
i went to spain last august and was hoping to go on le shuttle but we went across on pride of calais(wher my sister now works)and came back on pride of burgundy.nice ferry but not at 5.30 in the morning!
@TGXtrucker Thanks. Here at this company we usually stay out for 2 weeks, I mean we depart on Sunday night or Monday morning and arrive around Friday of the next week. Sometimes we stay out for 3 weeks but it's rare. It tuff to be away so much time and also hard to be alone but after some time you get used to it. It's also a matter of loving what you do and also to be well pay for such hard job.
很好的開車環境..讚--
@jleer1 Thanks for your advice but I never hand camera, I use a special tripod. Safety ALWAYS first... :)
Thanks, glad that the video was useful :)
Nice vid.
man, the skill it must take backing them things in there!
Yeah, but you get used to it over the years :)
THX MAN, This Is What I Would See ;D
A special tripod? That's your elbow, man! 24:31
Anyway thanks for the vid.
@bomber16bull it's the ZF AS-Tronic automated gearshift, with 12 speeds :)
I'm going to Belgium on Monday and I've got to go on a ferry
excelente video pumizo! muito obrigado! ficamos a espera de mais! quem sabe de umas cargas/descargas!
for the first time im going france in the afternoon rather than 2 AM in the moring after 5 times
Yes I know and thanks for the advice but special holder was used except inside private facilities areas where law doesn't apply and only at low speeds...
good job man!!!!
i like to play euro truck 2 :D
@Pumizo Nice, seems like a nice trip, and the whole trucking thing is amazing, the inconvenience for me won't be the driving time but the thing of staying out of home for weeks. How you handle that?
I like the sound of engine. Is manual or automatic transmission?
Glad it was useful
At the end yes because of being on slow driving inside private property. Most of the film was made using a Gorillapod tripod. Their products are amazing...
thanks ! Pumizo
great video, mate. my dream life style hehe, i am serious. it is great to travel at nights. I would ask some questions but it seems you never answer to the plas here, so salutes, god bless.
Hi, what do you need to know? Just ask :)
Im going to france with my school ( school holiday ) on wednesday :D
That was an awesome video. The staging area, with the lanes guiding the drivers into the ferry was amazing. How long exactly is that ferry ride after all that prep?
About 65 miniutes.
the entrance and exit of the ferry seems a chaos to me... how much time you got to get in/out?
@Francuz132 Yeah, there are many Polish friends out there and I really love the Polish trucks and some companies too. My favourite one is Omega Pilzno :)
@Pumizo So it isn't so much time really. About stopping at night and stuff, did anyone ever break the courtainsider? if they do, how do you handle it?
genial!!
It must be confusing the first time you use the ferry . But nice video well done
Yeah, the first time is an adventure 😁
Glad you liked it.
When the weather is clear you can see France coast on the other side of the Channel...
And i have a question: can i see the landscape from france at dover
Wow nô comment very nice to see bros
you are welcome
9:05...isnt that the tanker you were in front of in the ferry?
How much time does it take from France to England?
How much does a typical independent truck driver and a employed driver earn including fuel expences? Please reply. Thanks.
can you buy the ticket for the ferry at the check in
have you ever lost your way in the port?
No, it's quite easy :)
What do you normally do on the ferry? Good meal or catch up on sleep?
Usually this cross takes around 2 hours, so the ferry doesn't have cabins for drivers. They are big ships with lots of bars, restaurants and shops. There is a special area for truckers were they can take a shower, have a meal on a exclusive truckers restaurants, have a break at the lounge, etc
do you have to prove you're eligible when you go into the commercial food court? I saw similar on myferrielink bit i wasn't in the mood for food!
Depends on the ferry operator. Most of then demand the check in ferry ticket to prove that you are a truck driver. Food is cheaper, thats why they ask.
Understandable, the prices in the passenger areas are shocking!
if u ask me to get a proper ferry company on the irish sea choose p&o. they dont keep u waiting for 20 hours at the terminal or make you pay more for another deck
привет из Россия . видео класс
How much is a ticket for a car?
How long does is the journey? 1-3 hours?
+BMW Reviews You can get it as low as £25 each way, and it takes on average 2 hours
+Chris Flegg ok, ty.
+BMW Reviews ok,ty.
+BMW Reviews I dont know car ticket prices. A truck usually pays around 150€ depending if the company has account or anual crossings pack . The journey takes around 2 hours including check in and check out.
Prices vary - best check P&O's website. The journey is scheduled to take 90mins - with latest car check in 30mins before departure.
Good video. Shame it's not currently as good as route as it should be due to those MyFerryLink militant strikes at #Calais .
@harrygoozee i mean behind.
I used this route in ETS2
