    So many wonderful actors have come together for part one and two. Saying I’m OBSESSED with these movies is a poor excuse for wording. It’s more than obsession it’s almost like I get to watch ART every time I watch these movies. The casting, the cinematography, the music, the costumes. I get the distinct impression from Timotheé Chalamet that he's somehow "outside" the Hollywood celebrity-worship-seeking narcissism. It's as though he sees that world, understands it, maneuvers in it to advantage, and then ignores it outside of work. It's just an impression of his demeanor and how he says the things he says.

    • @BellinghamYorkshire
      @BellinghamYorkshire 3 месяца назад

      I see his narcissism. Woody Allen has said Timothée Chalamet only decided to “denounce” him in order to improve his own chances of winning an Oscar. Chalamet, who starred in Allen’s film A Rainy Day in New York, said he did “not want to profit” from the movie and announced he would donate his salary to charity as a bid for an Oscar nom. He's a scammer. Chalamet told Woody's sister he really didn't mean it but had to do it to improve his chances of getting a nomination. Chalamet is a creep.

    I gotta admit I found Feyd's introduction to be laughably sadistic to the point of ridiculousness. It felt like what a 12 year old would write if you asked them to write an introduction to an evil character. "So they just walk up to people and stab them, because they are evil". Sure - this is not unique to the Villeneuve adaptation at all, the Harkkonnens are just sadists. But it felt way more ridiculous in such a good film - compared to in the more campy and weird Lynch verison - where Rabban is pulling out the "herat plugs" of his servants

      When a movie can last more than 21 hours (that's how long the audiobook is, and you must add more visual action), be feasible in production terms (it can take hours, days, months to achieve 1 minute for the screen), be profitable in the box office = appealing to some more people than the novel's fans - THEN your comment against screenwriters could have a basis. But most likely, you would complain about the direction, cinematography, casting, music, FX, whatever.
      Complaining about two different art forms for being different in their running time of all things begs some questions, like, would you be willing to watch a 21 hours long movie? Movies that were as long as series of novels, like the Harry Potter ones? Would you watch a very long movie with hours dedicated to interior monologues?
      Have you ever tried your hand at screenwriting?
      You might want to watch the 2002 movie Adaptation. And a few movies awarded for their screenplays. See whether you can do it better.

    • @thisisyol
      @thisisyol 3 месяца назад

      @@MariaMartinez-researcher I can feel empathy for your points. I actually watched Adaptation in 2002 as a Teenager and although it was "fun", it screamed "look, we are real writers, too!" to me.
      But that is NOT what viewers want. They DO NOT want to think "Man, this screenwriter really made the story better suited for cinema". We don't care about a guy wanting fame for altering the story of a famous author. It's like a punch in the face. Nobody even knows the name of even ONE screenwriter, and we don't care about them, their salary or their narcicism. We just want to be able to "buy" what we want! Not what you think we need.

      I mean, the emperor is supposed to be kind of an old man who’s seen some shit but is privileged and his time is past. Old men don’t bother being cool. It worked for me, I liked that he was cast in part 2.

    Don't what is is about this Emperor, the script or Christopher Walken or Denis Villeneuve or whatever .... but the character seems SO UNCONVINCING to me....
    It just looks like Christopher Walken acting a part out for the cash - bring back José Ferrer .... he WAS the real Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV!

      It's also inaccurate because in the book the emperor looks like a young man in his 30s due to the anti-aging effects of spice

    Christopher Walken was Not a good choice for the emperor. They need someone more classical for such a part. All I hear is a mafia type accent I don't like it at all. All wrong for that part. When he confronts the baron there is no gravity in the scene

    The Dune movies seem so silly. Sorry if it offends anyone but I just cannot take them seriously. Feels like the thinnest storyline and dialogue with the most stale acting and line delivery. Please explain why are these movies are any good!

      You say "seem". Just curious if you watched both of them. I think the same way about the first one. But the second really brought out the story it was trying to tell.

      @@looyhooy4556 Yes, my cousin raved about the second so we went to see it and again it felt so dead…like it’s supposed to be this galactic epic but felt like a high school play. The acting is sooo lazy, or am I crazy? Again, if you like it, then I envy you, but it’s so weird to me, which is why I’m commenting. It’s like I can’t see what everyone is pointing at and screaming about.

      @MachWonder Now that I think about it, Zendayas character does feel lazy. Some of her lines were kind of weird. Anyway I love hearing different opinions. I love the movie because of the politics and what it's trying to teach.

      Which cannot happen on Earth at the moment because we have water. When the Sun's intensity reaches the point that the water can no longer act as a negative feedback loop, then you will have runaway global warming. That's not for at least 500 million years. By then humans or whatever the dominant life form is, should have left the planet.
      Arrakis has water. It's in the atmosphere or in the caches, but it's not cooling the planet through evaporation, condensation and albedo. The planetary scientists were seeking a means to bring back the water cycle without killing the worms in the process and destroying all stellar commerce.

      Haha I get it! Arakkis was first transformed into a desert planet by the sandworm, and after the death of Leto II the worm larva grow and multiply once more, and once again arresting the water cycle of the planet.
