Cheers for that explore. I've been past on the train between Newhaven and Seaford and knew of Tide Mills but looking at the current OS map didn't think there would be anything worth delving into. I was wrong! The old 1:25000 OS maps available on the NLS website (from the 1940s/50s) show a more developed settlement (even though it would have been abandoned even by then) but also the extensive branch line you mentioned that carried on beyond the (also now gone) Newhaven Harbour station to (and just beyond) Tide Mills. The same map also shows the railway/tramway that ran on the west side of the river all the way to the end of the breakwater and also to Meeching Quarry. I had no idea that they ever existed.
Interesting. I also think is strange that Newhaven is used as an international ferry port. It’s like a random seaside town between Brighton and Eastbourne. Speaking of abondoned. It would be interesting if you could film some of the abondoned ferry ports in uk, like in Folkstone. I’m sure there more. Off the subject, sorry about that 😊

Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed it! :)
One of your most facinating videos. So much history there. Lovely art deco station at Bishopstone too
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed it. I then caught a train at Bishopstone. That's possibly subject of a future video.
Lovely art deco station at bishopstone with the added addition in 1940 with a pair of pillboxes built on the roof
Thank you for watching! I then caught my train home from Bishopstone. Possibly subject of a future video.
I didn't know about the pillboxes. I'll look out for them next time.

Thank you for watching! I think Newhaven was made a port due to its natural harbour. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll see what I can do.
