As a single woman who needed to purchase an excavator to do extensive landscaping on my property, I am thrilled to watch this video! Saving money and learning a skillset not only saved me time, expense but I CAN now teach other women NOT to be afraid of using tools and equiptment. Times have changed so much for a lot of us women being widows & single females to become self sufficient out of necessity.
I drove one today for the first time. Ive never driven an excavator before but after a few hours I wasn't even thinking about the controllers. Its such an easy and awesome piece of machinery. I loved it.
OK I'm confused. At 1:14 you say you set it up currently at SAE, then at 1:42 your say you will show us the layout of ISO controls. Maybe you made the change?
LOL watching it with subtitles on rewinded it a couple times to make sure he said that. That's great. Wish California would go ahead and just seperate from the US. Bad thing is the crazy people there have made it so insane that they're now leaving cali and moving to our states and bringing their insane ideas with them. They should stay in the mess they made IMO.
Neil… I’ve been watching your videos for a while and I always found you to be very to the point and informative. That said, sense of humor has been missing… until this video where you said “that thankfully we’re in Pennsylvania and we’re gonna be ok”. Good one!
well this is going to sound Dumb to some people but I watched your instructional series on how to use an Excavator as I played Video games on my PC, now this may sound strange to people but I learnt so much form watching these video series. I have got much better at the Simulation thanks to your videos and thought I would just leave a comment and say thank you! P.S. I'm 50 and Disabled so I could never use one In real life, so Simulation is the next best thing... thank you again you helped Mr immensely.
Thanks for the great explanation. We are renting a mini-ex today. Just wanted to point out that I saw the blade come up before you moved the excavator forward as to not drag it on the ground? It wasn't explained. Sorry, that's my Type A personality noticing that.
I was about ready to take my machine back thinking the thumb was broken. Watched two other videos that just skipped over that part. So thank you for being so detailed!
Neil, you mentioned just use the controls and don't think about it. There is a lot of truth to that. I have a subcompact TLB and i consider myself a novice with the bh. i noticed that very same thing happen to me. I did a better job if i just used the controls rather than think about what which one was doing. So a very good tip for beginners.
I live in the bay 20yrs old and I already use the bobcat and now my boss wants me to learn how to use this so I’m getting some tips from this video for tomorrow’s training .
I’ve never operated an excavator but have lots of experience on articulated boom lifts with tons of controls. So my learning curve is pretty good. I have a project at my house that requires an excavator to clear rocks in my yard. Would it be better to rent and do myself or hire someone to do this work. It’s nothing technical or close to anything that could be damaged. Thanks in advance
Your videos are always great. One thing that would be great is to share cost of ownership data on these mini's. I am considering buying a used one for projects on my property then selling after my work is complete (or just hanging on to it, LOL). Can't afford a new one. What are the major components to fail at relative hours. I do understand maintenance can affect these failures but you guys have been in business a long time and should have a pretty good idea. I know for example driving on a lot of gravel and pavement will wear tracks prematurely.
I am interested same thing as well. You can find mini-excavators for low prices like 4500-5500 price range, but it is so questionable to buy one if it is just hours away from major component brakedown. Sometimes looking the photos the tracks are weared down badly, the hydraulic pipes seems to be leaking or even worse that hydraulic rods has lots of scratches or dents even! Someone experienced with these things could make lot of views just by breaking down the typical maintenance process, the expectations for the parts service lifetimes and so on.
@@FishFind3000 Not sure what your saying??? I simply said I see these all over the place where I live so they are very popular, meaning they must be very good... Would you feel better if I said the same exact thing under my John Deere RUclips channel?
@@FishFind3000 I feel Like I see this machine every other mile around my house LOL... Must mean that it's a great machine... Great video as always... Hows that Fish??? Feel better now that I'm not being bias? SMH
How common is the option to switch control patterns in these machines? Do all of them have it? I played a videogame where you control one of these which used SAE but I live in Europe, where apparently the ISO is more common so I wonder if I should relearn.
" right here next to the sticker from California saying we're going to get cancer from operating this machine" The way you said that like it was just part of the script was completely hilarious. 👍
I live in CA and those stickers are on everything. This is not an exaggeration. Some cousin of a politician must have made a fortune getting the rights to produce those warnings.
I believe the only difference in ISO vs SAE is boom and stick are reversed. Here is Australia SAE is 'slanged' to "backhoe", left hand operates the boom. I find Neil's videos quite instructive.
On iso the stick and bucket are on the same joust The origin of sae pattern was to use separate pump for each joystick, giving more flow for digging Digging is primarily done with bucket and stick, the "b" pattern make you dig with one joystick while maneuvering with your left hand
Actually Neil demonstrated the ISO mode. That was just after he said that the SAE (backhoe style) is the "preferred" American way to operate it. 😀 ISO is also know as Excavator mode, while SAE is also known as "Backhoe" mode. What is the difference you may ask. The only difference, is that with ISO setting, the left hand operates the "stick/dipper" arm instead of the "boom" and the right hand operates the "boom". The reverse is true when using SAE. All the other controls work exactly the same in either mode.
Hey Neal, great video, but not to be nit-picking Nelly, but need to check the mic and connections. Lots of static and popping. Need to talk to the boss for a new one! LOL
I live in eastern Pennsylvania and I'm debating whether I would rather have cancer or deal with all this clay and unpercable soil. I used the term soil loosely.
Could you Make a video on how to use the coil you make a video the kubota level indicator sticker? My dad b7800 has one and a friends new mini kubota a bx I believe and they both have this. I John deer compact tractor I’ve ran has a metal bar that moves and when it’s flush it’s level.
You switched to SAE controls but then said you were going to start the machine to show how ISO controls work. Which control selection were you in during the operation demo?
I learned on a backhoe and now have an excavator that I run in that pattern. Running in iso pattern is like excavating while while looking into a mirror! Very confusing.
Are the controls on the right the same as a tractor front loader. You are correct about giving yourself time. I rented a 12k excavator and the first couple days I would have to take a break every couple hours because I was losing focus. Then things started to click and I could lean back and use the arm rest. With a few more hours I could probably do the gangsta lean. Good video as usual you present yourself well👍
I agree. I also noticed that Neil said that the SAE (backhoe style) is the "preferred" American way to operate it, yet he demonstrated the ISO method. 😀 ISO is also know as Excavator mode, while SAE is also known as "Backhoe" mode. the boom out vs stick out changes from left stick to right. It doesn't seem like an issue, until you get surprised by it. I'm not good a cat pattern, I learned on a backhoe, and it was just easier for me to change my machines pattern.
It would be nice to have a camera above you, from the camera angle here it is hard to actually see what you are doing and what you are describing that you are doing. Even commenting about a green button, where is that?? All I see is you. Being a beginner, I need you to try to show us as if we are a beginner, right?
Only outside of San Antonio and Houston. You guys better seal up that leak at your west border before you-all catch the liberal disease from those transplants.
Please improve! Your statement at 1:25 is disappointing. You should know better. Without California, your kids would eat lead paint and breathe lead gasoline.
I'm glad I live in PA and can operate this machine without getting cancer as well!
I learned in PA on the Drilling Rigs
How much does this machine cost
Lol, PA sucks
So PA automatically eliminates cancer 😂😂😂

Thank you ! I just bought a used one with cab etc. . Great video !!

Pretty basic, but great info for a noobie. I’ve owned two excavators, currently a 26G and I’ve only been self taught. These are good pointers!
Thanks for the video! I'm operating one of these for the first time today and hopefully I can impress my bf who's been doing it for 25+ years!

Same in the USA. Sae/iso = backhoe/excavator control.
You never showed us how the iso controls worked as compared to the sae

Going from H patern to iso on a skid, I sympathize with all that switch controls.
Every other comment says the same thing but that's cause it's true. Very good video man.
Best video I've seen so far. Thanks!
After putting over 15000 hours on diggers form 2.5 tons to 13 ton driving them its like blinking
good video. I would recommend wearing a seat belt especially for beginners.
That was a great video. Now I know what the lever above the book symbol does.
How much cost one of this mini excavator 2017
Hey Neal, great video, but not to be nit-picking Nelly, but need to check the mic and connections. Lots of static and popping. Need to talk to the boss for a new one! LOL
Im thinking renting one to do my yard work.
Thank you for showing how to operate it.
"Thankfully we are in Pennsylvania" 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Good video straight to the point
Very interesting video Neil.
Great Information video, thank you Neill
Thanks so much for sharing this video. I have a small project to do and this helped !
I live in eastern Pennsylvania and I'm debating whether I would rather have cancer or deal with all this clay and unpercable soil. I used the term soil loosely.
Thank you, great video as a beginner this helped a ton.
Hey man. Thank you for making this video.
Does anyone know how to change the iso to bh control pattern on a komatsu pc18mr
Here in commifornia we can’t even fart because you’ll either offended someone or give them cancer
Indiana is wide open... come on down lol
I was watching another video on kubota machines and they mentioned
Hydraulics over Hydraulics.....
Can some one clarify as to what that means?
Thank you I really like the show about the heavy equipment control
Thanks you. I am a very New learner. I ma going to make a career out if this.

You switched to SAE controls but then said you were going to start the machine to show how ISO controls work. Which control selection were you in during the operation demo?
The pattern he was operating was iso controls
Does anybody knows how to disable the backup beeper on one of this?? The one I'm currently using is a KX71-3
Thanks for the video Neal. Appreciate the information.
Thank you so much for making this video as I can now drive my escalator
That was so funny. If in California, you get cancer, but Pennsylvania your ok.
does this mean i don't need a certificate to operate a 360 in the states im in the uk
Only in the the worst states, like the People's Socialist Democratic Republic of Massachusetts
The 10th generation dairyman said to watch your videos.
Good info, as always.
I learned on a backhoe and now have an excavator that I run in that pattern. Running in iso pattern is like excavating while while looking into a mirror! Very confusing.
Neil, What the P at the end KX057-4R3AP ?
two service ports on the boom
Awesome video
So much good to learning excavator

you are great..I understood I've subscribed
Nice instructions
They have this for rent in home depot can anyone operate this excavator?
Thought you were gonna show an SAE vs ISO control comparison.
Awesome!
You didn't show the difference between the two

Didnt he show iso controls not sae?
So is Pattern A= ISO
And Pattern B=SAE?
Great video. Thanks!

the boom out vs stick out changes from left stick to right. It doesn't seem like an issue, until you get surprised by it. I'm not good a cat pattern, I learned on a backhoe, and it was just easier for me to change my machines pattern.

Thank you for this! I needed to use one of these in my back yard. I am in Utah...does the cancer sticker matter over here? (Just kidding) Thanks!
Thank you!
That backhoe controls not excavater controls
How do you get cancer from operating the machine in California? From the sunny weather?
Why show us iso if sae is more popular?
Sir, please elaborate on the reason for the sticker stating that you can get cancer ♋ operating that machine.
Do not disregard safety messages, Sir.
