Woody Guthrie played & recorded it, but "Buffalo Skinners" was a Public Domaine southwestern folk ballad that Woody's kid Arlo did with Arlo's band of Berkshire Mountains neighbors who backed Arlo in studio and long road tours circa 1980's. I'm not real fond of the one soundboard quality but not especially lit night's gig tape that Warner Brothers put on a slap-dash live Arlo Guthrie album during that decade where singer-songwriters calling themselves folkies were actually out doing curious spontaneous repertoire adaptables like this one from an earlier age of neo-liberal E-CON contract labor out-sourcing. Here's one that is decidedly not sound board quality and only lasts into the establishing choruses of "Buffalo Skinners" and that didn't make it onto the better later 80's and 90's WB double live albums of Arlo & Shenandoah road gigs and then when Arlo's contract with Warners was up that he issued on his own family cottage industry recording label Rising Son Records. Dylan never did anything like this with a cooking band following banjo reel lead: ruclips.net/video/6DgNF_Edko8/видео.html 13- Arlo Guthrie - Buffalo Skinners luis gutierrez 281 subscribers 1,516 views Aug 1, 2012 No description has been added to this video. Tremendous version. Went to this show, one of his very best shows
Love this song! Bob's take on Woody Guthrie's "Buffalo Skinners" Beautiful rendition and the first of the only two electric versions! Thank you! 🙌
Great show which I remember well, I posted the link to the video
