Great video from beginning to end. I just bought the Hook 9 Reveal and I will be installing it and using it for the first time this weekend. Never used a fish finder and I am excited to see it in action.
Ooohhhh..... NICE......I hate those long transducers man do they cost a lot of money and are super easy to get knock around..... One of the reasons I haven't upgraded all the new stuff has those long ones..... Tell you what Mike you did a very clean install....Zip tied and good to go... Good lookn simulation, can't wait to see it in the water..... Your right there's a lot of knowledge with these units with SI, DI, 2D and maps...... Congrats Mike
Mike: When might you be going out next? Just put on a new lowrance as well and have not fished the Chickahominy. Nor have I used a gill net so could use some pointers. Hoping I could follow you out one day and pick up some tips.
Recently bought this same unit, was really looking forward to seeing the installation process. Got a great lesson in how to apply zip ties but absolutely nothing about wiring the power source. Disappointing. Could have really used your advice since I have never installed one before. 😢
@@mikecha1957 Thank you for your comment. I'm really struggling to find a video to help me install properly. I grew up with a man with your same name, does the 1957 reflect your year of birth? That is mine.
As i now recall, I just wired the new power cord to the wires where i disconnected the power cord from the unit that was already on the boat. It wasn't too difficult
Pretty cool new toy Mike! Looking forward to it out on the water! Get yourself another 85lb hog!👍 thanks for sharing brother, have yourself a great one, you all stay safe!👍👊🍻
3 year check? Hows your unit working? Ive got the same unit and it went from working good to a point where now it will only read to about 30' deep. Been trying to troubleshoot it but haven't been able to figure it out yet.
I think my Lowrance hook reveal triple shot is compatible with a side scan transducer. I have just the down scan transducer. Do you know if unit has soft ware for the side scan.
I had to go find out what that one is all about. Looks like it's an upgraded version of the Hook2 units. Has a few very nice features the Hook2 doesn't have but, otherwise, it's same size and basic functions as what I have which is the Hook2-7 tripleshot. Being able to have fish arches on downscan would be pretty nice, but I'm not sure I'm willing to fork out the cash just for that feature. The lake map is already good enough so the genesis live scan ability really isn't needed for me. Pretty cool to have though if you fish ponds, rivers or creeks that aren't on the map already. Hope you enjoy it Mike!
Hey Bill, turns out the only drawback to this unit is that it doesn't have maritime maps so my river wasn't on it. I had to get a Navionics card which isn't nessesarally a bad thing.
Only reason I changed units was for the sidescan. I've had an opportunity to try it out. Pretty darn neat. Thanks for stopping by Kevin I appreciate you buddy.

I'm really happy with mine. I'm glad you noted my video. Thanks for watching

Thanks SK. I did have to add a Navionics card as this unit only had lakes and I fish rivers. I appreciate you watching brother. Tight lines....
You'll enjoy that critter Mike and the install was really pretty straight forward....
Yeah Wes once I got the old wiring out it was fairly simple.
@@mikecha1957 ....My installs are through internal gunnels and tubing....I have to use a shift cable as a pull through....A reel PITA....LOL!!
Fun... Those are some huge fish. Looks like so much fun. 💕
Thank you very much. I appreciate you stopping by.
I can't wait to see how you like it out on the water! Thanks for sharing. 😃
Thank you very much Miss Suzanne.

The forecast is looking gloomy for this weekend but I will try to hit it hard next month. Message me. I'm on face book
Great install Mr. Chavez
Thanks Chad I appreciate you watching my friend.
A nice addition to the boat. Waiting to see how that high tech finder works.
You and me both! I've had it on the water once and it is working fine.
I've always used Lowrance for my fishfinders.... love them... Havent broken down and got the side scan models yet however... Nice one Mike
Yeah my old one is a good unit I just figured it is time for sidescan. I appreciate you watching Ralph.
Great job, Keep us up to date on how it works out.
Will do! Gadget...Thanks
Great install Mike!!
Thanks Lyle I appreciate that.

I made this a few years ago. I know i figured it out. I'm sure you can too. Sorry to disappoint 😞

@paulgreen177 Yes i was born in 57

Awesome Mike!
Thanks Capt. Greg. I did add the Navionics card after I recorded this. This unit only had lakes and I fish tidal rivers.
Did you use the circuit breaker they provide you with when you installed your fish finder? Thanks
Yes I did.
Did a good job brother except for the thing is a transducer not transom 😅
Yeah, well, I do get a little confused on my old age, LOL

That's the plan! Thanks Craig

@ramrodrymensnyder2648 I haven't used it in a while due to an injury. But the last time I used it, it was working fine.

Yes it is compatible with sidescan.
You can see them now be loading the boat with the help of this

@@mikecha1957 With that genesis live scan you could've just mapped the river yourself, but that navionics card probably is the easier route for sure.
Great video friend
Thanks for the visit
I have the Same fish finder you just disconnected lol
That was a good unit I just wanted sidescan to help with bait as much as shallow fish. Thanks for watching my friend
Hi I’m debating between the reveal 7 and Garmin…how’s your unit working so far? Tks!
This unit is working great but Garmins are good units too.
@@mikecha1957 Thank You!
I have the EXACT same unit on my boat. Except, I don't have the side scan transducer. sad face.
Only reason I changed units was for the sidescan. I've had an opportunity to try it out. Pretty darn neat. Thanks for stopping by Kevin I appreciate you buddy.
