Do you like Belos's theme? Which is better, his first or second? I'm gonna be uploading a whole bunch of character themes over the next few days, so stay tooned.
Moments I missed:
At the very end of S2E12, his theme plays when he's revealed to be belos
It's funny how fan reorchestrations like Kalamity Music's have fully fused the two melodies into one whole in my mind. Always throws me to realise they're two completely different leitmotifs that never actually occurred *together* on the show! They do have very compatible vibes.
I have to chose the second it's way better than the first . Can't say that the first one is bad though
they both convey different feelings
the first convays the feeling of a ruthless monarch which is to be feared while the seconds hints of a person with a dark past he refuses to put behind
personally i like the second one better, but if we got the full version then the first by far
@@neros398 Agreed . The second starts when belos takes off his mask . And it shows how complex belos/philip really is .
I think the first theme fit well for Belos as we knew him in season 1, but as we got to know him, the second theme became far more fitting. In season 1, we only knew him as this ancient, almost religious tyrant. But by season 2, we learn what he looks like, what his story is, and just how broken he is, so the creepy, lullaby-esq theme he now has is more congruent with what we know about him.
I'm obsessed with both themes. Some of the best music in the show's soundtrack for the arguably the best antagonist in Disney history. He's up there with Bill Cipher.
His look, his personality, his backstory, HIS MUSIC! Belos is one of the best villain than a cartoon can have
it's just funny that the thing he needed to posses to succeed in his witch hunt, hang above his head all those years, but since he saw magic as something that was evil and below his standards he didn't do it!
ngl he felt different after king's tide, like he was reduced to an average villain of the week
@@klokkenfan There’s also the aspect of him preferring to conduct genocide in a more "dignified" manner of gradually gaining total political control over the Isles, establishing a cult, and then killing them at what is supposed to be their most triumphant moment, rather than just using the nuclear option. He's prideful, and it's only when his more elaborate and deceptive plan fails does he decide to just use brute force.
@@troggo-art I don't know I kinda liked the way he disappeared into the background, he was no longer in control, he had to manipulate The Collector and scavenge around for a host, it showed just how pathetic he is when he's not leaching off of others, that's just my opinion though
The "Tale of the Wittebane Brothers" theme is very clever, reframing the simpler Belos leitmotif as the jagged, broken half of something bigger which made more sense as a whole. Excellent synergy of form and meaning.
Bro, that his death ost is just called "Phillip" gave me shivers. Thats how u give ur tracks names
My favorite songs in soundtracks are the ones that can be warped to change its meaning, and I think this theme does this the best. It starts off grand with extra ornamentation and played on a harp. It's very regal. But by the end, it's reduced to barely a song from a horror movie. Gone is the respect of a highly regarded position. Gone is his silver tongue he can manipulate people with. In the very end, it's not even more than a single tone held out, and never brought to completion.
It starts out intimidating in season 1 and then becomes more forlorn/sad in later episodes of season 2.
And then in season three it's (mostly) demented.
First, it's the music of your standard animated baddie. Then it's the theme of a tragic monster. Finally, it's the music that follows a horror movie villain.
"welcome to your new covens" is strait up creepy, and I love it.
Belos had a truly good theme, showing the darkest parts of the series, as well as Belos sinister and dark past and personality.
Can we talk about how the titan's heart has to e one of the biggest foreshadowing ever made?
Kinda begs the question of why it wasn’t the original plan. He said in his final journal entry that he had everything he needed for the portal, so it really makes you wonder why he chose the over complicated draining spell plan over fusing with the Titan.
@@nemesis_saber89 Well I think that's mainly because he planned on going back to the human realm, his plan being ruined by Luz and with nothing to lose, he gave up this plan and went for plan B.

Even if I don't like Belos... I must admit one thing... His theme is awesome!
I have a feeling Belos's whole character was retconned somewhere between season 1 and 2.
He called Luz "human" in season 1 despite being alone with her where nobody would overhear him. His theme was fully changed in season 2. His original intentions seemed much more titan-focused in season 1.
I both agree and disagree- on one hand he definitely does seem like a differint character in s1, yes. On the other hand, his backstory and goals just feel so… planned out, and so perfect for the story.
Uhhh,no
He calls luz human as a twisted way of showing approval/affection for the first other human he’s seen in centuries, and his intentions seem titan-focused because that’s the wool he’s pulling over everyone’s eyes-that this is the titan’s will, and after season 1 we see his actual goals and role as sort of a false prophet for the titan
Same goes for his theme,in season 1 it’s the untouchable, mysterious emperor,in season 2 it’s the disturbingly calm, chillingly human witch hunter
Nothing was retconned,we just saw more of who he actually was and he improved as a villain for it
@@anidiotsandwich1524 100% facts
@@anidiotsandwich1524 Uhhh, yes.
The only reason I'd disagree is because the twist makes too much sense, and the shortening of the show. In episode 1 it's shown that there's a room dedicated to treasure that only a human can access. In a room with like 1000 Emperor's coven banners. And of course the old creepy house existing in the first place. I think there was a noticeable change in Belos from s1 to s2, but I feel as though it was meant to be more gradual, but the shortening didn't allow for that. Also I doubt Belos would've revealed anything about his identity or true motivations to Luz even though she's clearly a human. Luz is strictly against Belos in this episode, and Lilith's betrayal had *just* happened. Belos knows Lilith and Luz are gonna time travel to help Belos find the collector, and to avoid any changes in timeline, Belos probably wanted to allow them both to leave safely.
Also- to add to the tone shift- with the introduction of Hunter, we get to see a new and more personal side to Belos, which is necessary to reel him in as the main antagonist. To the people he's close with, he isn't just a merciless magical ruler, he can be a mystical old man who occasionally gives affection, and occasionally brings punishment.
Or maybe it was a coincidence and it all just happened to work out lol
Thank you so much for making this you have no idea how much it means to me ♥️♥️♥️
Commenting to bump it up the algorithm
MAGPIEEEEE
this is so disturbing yet so beautiful to watch
The fact none of this is on Spotify is criminal
The theme from S1 fits who Belos was back then and who we thought he was: a creepy powerful wizard with desires of control over the minds of witch and demon alike, perhaps seeking absolute power justified by the potential dangers of magical anarchy.
His theme from S2 fits who Belos became and who he really is: a tragic monster of his own making, whose unrelenting pride in being the good man of faith, the hero of his own story, led to him becoming a manipulative, rotting shell of a man bent on destroying the Hell that seemingly corrupted the one person he ever loved.
And his theme from Season 3 fits with what Belos is absent of his power and stature: a sadistic being who will use any means necessary to accomplish his only reason to live, that being the death of every being of the Demon Realm, even daring to obtain godhood to do so.
THIS! This comment perfectly encapsulates Belos/Philip Wittebanes’s Character in all the right ways, and really shows that Belos as monstrous and heartless as he was made out to be, was still in the end…
Just a Human…
I swear if we ever got an extended version of 8:00 and 13:41 I would lose it- I'm in love with these moments-
Thank you, SO much for unloadin this, I've been tryina find Belos' Season 1 theme for a long time now but only ever got Season 2, thank you so much for saving me the headache of trying to look it up again. =)
No problemo!
I never realised Belos had a theme in s1... or that it was (objectively) better than his newer theme
Agree to disagree lol
@Bearbro456 fair enough. I think I just prefer the grandeur in the theme compared to the chimes of the newer one. I know it suits his character better (literally just a pathetic, half dead man) but I find it cooler.
@@v1ct0rygames32 I think the grandeur fits the propoganda idea of belos, while his s2 theme fits the real belos
@@Throssssmusikbox for the win
2:41 just hits different
belos the typa guy to have a battle theme thats just drums and a choir singing his name
Ghetsis...
Hey everyone, Luz’s theme is coming- Disney’s just being awful with copyright.
I watched the owl house as it aired, meaning that the AC would be blasting during those summer nights. I never heard this theme before. It is PERFECT!
I loved this video. Belos is one of my favorite villains. Just a tip, try separating this video in chapters so it's easy for the viewers to find the song we're looking for. Great work.
just noticed part of "the tale of the whittebane brothers plays in "oh, shut up." this could confirm it is the theme for them both.
Does anyone knows the piano notes to play the beginning of Promise from Agony of a Witch?
Call me crazy but I think Belos tops palpatine.
well in terms of story yeah I'd say so, extra points for actually being able to die instead of returning "somehow"
@@kozolith2121 lol, yeah I liked palpatine till the part where he just “Returned”.
Oh wow I’ve been pinned!
Disney Sheev? Yeah. Legends? Sorry but no.
22:00 very nice
Theme of the Aggressor.
nah all of these REALLY give me Dead Cells OST vibes
God I love him (in the hateful way)
I can cleanse this predation, MYSELF!!
21:14
Sounds a little bit like the theme song for Invader Zim
OMG
Raine vs Belos is my favourite
Harpsichord of evil!
Kinda like Thrawn's leimotif better though, for cartoon baddies.
This is Disney Ghetsis
