Victoria, thank you so much for singing my grandfathers song so beautifully. Not many people are aware that Maulolo Toevai from Afega wrote and composed this song to a lost love who left Samoa. Our family honours Pa by singing or performing this song whenever we have a family wedding. Thank you from the bottom of my heart X
Hi Julia. Is it possible you get the correct lyrics for this song please. There is so many different lyrics to this beautiful song so I just want to sing the correct one from the composer if you don't mind.
I never knew this... thank you for sharing Julia, how beautiful and sentimental. Having now understood the story behind this song, its definitely now one I hold even closer to me, as my Father is also from Afega. Sending much alofas ♥
1) Le manu tagi e, ua tagi ta'amilo Pei o se ta mai o se logo fa'ailo Ma'imau pe ana iai se televise Semanu, ua iloa atu lou tino Chorus Amuia le lupe e fai ona apa'au, Pe ana o a'u e lele atu ma toe sau Se'i o'u asia le atu Fiti ma Makonai Aue! Tasi e, ta fia alu nei iai 2) Matua e, se'i ala maia po'o fea le tama Po'o ua moe po'o tafao i le taulaga Su'e ane, sa'ili ane i Vaitele Ae leai ua te'a ese ma Aele These lyrics I've always known from when Jerome Grey covered this song from many moons ago. The lyrics sung in this song ending of the second verse is incorrect. Hope this helps, if in doubt ask your parents :-)
So is "Le Manu Tagi e" the correct title? (I always think of it as "Manuia le Lupe") Also, how is "le" supposed to be pronounced in Samoan? Curious.....I have a tendency to pronounce it like it was French...just that one word (I sang a cover of this song, but it was nowhere near as good as this)
I guess you could pronounce it that way. Also in regards to the title of the song... With all due respect to the composer, many artists have titled it "one or the other" with both song titles being identifiers of this song. Hope that helps.
