  • This tutorial describes one of the ways to remove non manifold elements from a mesh.
Non manifoldness often prevents from the application of some filters dealing with topology.
The tutorial shows both the decorators that visually shows the non manifold elements, and the simple functionalities to select and remove them.

Even 10 years past, it's still useful for me, THANKS

Hey, thanks so much for your MeshLab tutorials. They're certainly helping me.
I'm using MeshLab to prepare meshes for 3D printing. I'd really really like to see more tutorials about those other methods of fixing non-manifold meshes. That'd be awesome! =D

My Render menu is a lot shorter than the one in the video - yet it tells me I've got the latest one when I do a check. It doesn't have the "Show non-manifold" views. =(

I have the same issue here, please let me know if you figured this out.

In MeshLab 2020, on the far right of the Window, under the bit that says "1234 1234", just under the filename, there's 6 icons. A box, a box made of dots, a box made of lines, a solid shape, and a red solid shape, and the last one on the right - a box with blobs on it. CLICK THE BOX WITH BLOBS ON IT. A list appears under it, with 5 items that can be toggled on/off. No-Manifold Edges and No-Manifold Verts show the non manifold bits when "ON" is clicked!

@@SarahC2 Weird I got those toggled ON, but it says there are 0 mon manifold issues for either in the upper left. Exporting this into Cura or my other printing STL programs they do detect non manifold still.

Aside removing the vertices or edge from the model, what is the other video you mention?

Thanks for these tutorials! They are great.
I also love this model! Can I get it somewhere?

Is there any collection/ suite for faulty models, i want to test different fault repairing filters.

Can someone please help me? I have a 3D design for a 2 piece container that someone did for me that I need to tweak. The only information I can find relates to basic changes based on extending of reducing the X,Y,Z axis. I want to alter a specific area of the image, not necessarily everything along a particular access. For instance the base has two horizontal surfaces with the upper surface inset slightly to accommodate the cover and create a smooth surface when closed. I need to thicken the inside of the cover along the Y access so the taper angle creating a tight seat. The inside would need to slope up and in evenly all the way around instead of a straight vertical line so that as it is seated it creates a seal while the outside of the same wall remains unchanged. Inside there are 3 holes for a few items to fit into the base and I need to alter the dimensions of these spaces. I also want to emboss or print a logo on the surface of the item if you are feeling extra helpful.

Too many complex tools. :( And to make it worst this is only one of many tools needed to make something printable.
