I’ve never understood why people were butt hurt over these songs being from early demos. The drums sound awesome and I love the nastiness of the bass. I’m glad too the last album was with Diamond Dave and not Spammy.

Anal beads😄 I remember Sam The Red Worm called out A different kind of truth for having old songs from their early days. Yet this two faced dude forgot to mention Right Now! was an old tune Eddie had knocking around for years in the studio. Another one - Amsterdam is another old one Eddie had been working on sincr 1985! Sam Hagar sure likes to forget things, they outta call him The Red Worm Cherrypicker 😄 Anyway A different kind of truth what a way to go out. Their final album, what a smoker. Eddie found his nutsack again and for as much as I dig the new era without Roth there,A different kind of truth is an animal and just eats those records for lunch. As a fan Im happy Dave came back and the band gave us back classic VanHalen again. Dave's lyrics and story telling humor hit so good with Eddie's savage return. All bands dont often go out on a high note, but VanHalen did with this record. RIP Eddie, you'll always be living and blazing on in our stereos🎸

I'm with you, I love ADKOT! The people who seem to have an issue with it are those that like watered down tequila and puffy ramen noodles. I remember Hammy's butt, I mean, Eddie Trunk just criticizing the hell out of it even though that's how albums have been made for the longest time, including Hagard's. Please keep bringing light to the hypocritical nonsense out there.

ADKOT rules!!!!! You wanna know why it rules?!?! Because Eddie’s kid had the great idea of re-recording and refining some great old demos and mixing it with a bunch of new ideas. It’s the best reunion album of all time!!! It’s the best Eddie has played since 1984. And you said it perfectly!!! ADKOT is the 7th VH album!!!

Yeah you got that right about non-Roth VH doesn't sound authentic, im not big on Hagar so when he joined VH it reminded me more of his solo stuff, Eddie still did his thing but something was missing, but it all came right back when Roth rejoined even if his singing is usually hit and miss, the chemistry is there

  • @stephenkodrich8763

There’s gotta be some context here that we don’t know beyond Roth just being difficult for no reason. Many things come down to money and the band tried to change his royalties in the late 90’s. I understand that we are not talking physical content here but something’s not adding up.

  • @jameswest4259

I wish someone could explain to me who’s in charge of the Van Halen catalog. I’ve heard Dave is. I’ve also heard Alex is. All I know is ‘the powers that be’ have stated no new VH material will ever be released. No demos, no unreleased trax.
Dont know who makes these decisions. But if Dave was in charge, why would he allow the Hagar albums to be released in a remastered box set. Doesn’t make sense. As far as the demos and unreleased stuff I’m under the understanding Eddie didn’t want anything else released. Sorry for the rant but it saddens me that we will never ever hear any kind of music from the great VH again

Wolfy is involved too. He talked about it on Stern a couple years ago. He specifically talked about his dad’s shelves of tape at 5150. I think he’s too busy with his own thing right now. But he said he’ll get to listening to all of that stuff at some point.

@@ryanrussell9556 I know Wolfie said that. But, I am here to tell you nothing will be released. Wolfie says a lot of stuff. He's not gonna do anything. Plus, Alex has said everything needs work/there's nothing finished to release. You have to live with the reality that no new VH songs will be released. But, plenty of bootleg songs on RUclips. Alex isn't gonna release those bootlegs, though. Doesn't have the masters. That's all.

But we can also hope that the archivist stumbles across some video that nobody knows about. You never know.

"DLR Band" isn't on streaming services either and it's a great album. I think Wolf is getting secondhand info through his uncle about the band business. Haven't heard Wolf or Alex promoting Van Hagar either even though Wolf's getting estate money out of it. As far as ADKOT goes, Dave was the one who picked the producer and made the band record at Henson (state of the art equipment) instead of 5150 (old ass equipment). I think Dave's management is trying to work out getting more $ for streaming royalties, but what's weird as that Tokyo Dome is still on streaming services (including the ADKOT songs) and was part of the same contract as ADKOT. Alex and Eddie gaslit Sammy into DLR hate and it seems like Uncle Alex is gaslighting his nephew now.

    • @musicstream26

It wasn't Uncle Alex who told Wolfie the album isnt streaming because of Roth. AND, it's not true that Roth is the reason. Wolfie made a mistake in eluding as such.

I agree with you. It’s a fantastic album. I love it. It definitely sounds like the follow up to 1984. That’s how I felt about it when I heard it for the first time. Maybe hardcore fans, including myself, wanted them to work together on something completely brand new. (YOU AND YER BLUES and STAY FROSTY were new songs)
However, I have no issue with ADKOT being mostly old reworked demos, and I was never bummed out by it when I heard about it. That’s why it sounds like THE MIGHTY VAN HALEN. I do wish they would have tuned to Eb like the early records.

I admit, ADKOT is hard for me to listen to. Not only is Michael Anthony gone, so is DLR’s voice. It sounds like a bunch of leftover songs that got stitched up and repackaged as an album. Basically the whole thing sounds like a cash grab more so than a proper VH album. Sonically, it sounds great but it’s a hard album for me to enjoy because of all the inner band turmoil and legal shenanigans. And then that putrid live album they put out shortly after really was the final nail in the coffin for me. For me, true VH died with 1984, Fair Warning being the last great VH album (wasn’t a fan of Diver Down and 1984 had way too many keyboards on it for my tastes). But yeah, I can understand why DLR is fighting like mad trying to keep ADKOT in the vaults.

The story that Wolf was singing to Mike backing tracks was total B/S ....Wolf was the most consistent vocalist in the VH band ....ADKOT although criticized for having old songs on it had real POWER......CHINATOWN for instance with Father & Son locked in with Alex like atomic clockwork....,,,,,,Honeybabysweetiedoll had some terrific sonic invention play from ED like the great old days, Blood & Fire was great...'You and Your Blues' was a great new song totally different from the 'reworked demoes'..& Beats Working with Wolfs Jammy bass lead in before his Dads solo was TERRIFIC. I don't know why Dave doesn't help put the record back up ......Its really silly of him considering on Blood & Fire he says - 'I told you I was coming back. Did you miss me ? ...Say it like you mean it'....Why is he turning his back on ADKOT ??....Daft of a brush this is Dave.... & instead spending his time on ridiculous new stuff like 'The Sh*t that killed Elvis'......& 'Manda,Manda Bala be-an-ass in Brazilian in a Las Vegas Bonanza' . 🤔🙄

Every Sammy album, and Dave album have songs from early demoes! Eddie was brilliant, and I think this reference to earlier demoes is silly and used by those who bought into Sammy’s comments about the album. Also, maybe that bothered Dave too, as he had less original “new” material” he got to put down on that album. Who knows, but demoes were used on em ALL! Love me VH! Drop Dead Legs.

    • @ryanrussell9556

I think it did bother Dave. In an interview a couple years after ADKOT came out, Dave said something like “me and Eddie haven’t written a song together in 30 years”. I think he meant in the same room as each other. I think most of ADKOT was written and recorded separately. The VH boys would go into the studio and record all the music for the tracks and then send it to Dave to right lyrics and then he’d go in and record vocals separately. Even most of the backing vocals on ADKOT are Dave’s voice double and triple tracked.
