I’ve been using this for about 5 days on my 1st gen Apple Watch ultra and I’ve noticed that sometimes the feature doesn’t activate and is sometimes delayed . Which is probably why the S9 chip allows it to work more consistent
Thank you, I enable it on my series 7. I am getting One for my Disabled adult child, and setting that up with AssistiveTouch. I think that will be fine for her. Thank you for this video!
The double tap function as well as the action button on the phone is nothing new for people who have been using accessibility features for years to control their device
So true. As a vision impaired person, although I personally don’t need to use double tap/assistive touch on my Apple Watch, when I heard this gesture being shown on the new watches, I thought to myself this is nothing new, I’d known this was available for years lol.
This is kinda creepy lol, I had a hour long argument with someone about this before I went to bed last night. I woke up and this was the first video recommended to me on RUclips 🤔. Thanks it proved me right.
@@Salvajeloco692it’s the orange button on the left side on the Apple Watch ultra/2 u press it to activate a certain feature such as workouts, flashlight, stop watch and dive since the Apple Watch ultra is a watch mostly for adventure
It would be better if u could show a comparison for double tap feature for both ultra 2 and ultra to know how good it is on ultra 2 , coz thats the whole selling point based on s9 chip how quickly u can access these commands. If it really makes a difference, not sure, though!
For the double tap feature, I wish Apple had given us the option to customize the watch. For example, if we are not in ‘away on’ mode, we could double tap to light up the screen to see the time.
I enabled this feature and it was a total waste of time, battery life and lost data. I disabled it after a couple of MTB rides as it thought i was tapping, double tapping, griping and double griping while on rides on rough trails. I also noticed the watch froze several times and needed to be rebooted.
I have ultra 2 and i just tested out my assisted touch, and its a nice feature i will continue to use it but i noticed it dont always pick up my taps or clenches. I noticed I have to tap pretty aggressively and clench pretty aggressively to get it to pick up sometimes. Hopefully they can improve that over time but if not im still happy with it
The tiny haptic and constant highlight is really annoying sadly Edit: quick actions does what I need with enabling assistive touch. You just have to set it for “on” rather than needing assistive touch enabled
Fantastic tip. Thank you. Did you mean (without )enabling assistive touch. This is perfect for accepting and ending calls without all the other bells and whistles going off. Many thanks 🙏
Hi. How do you get the new way finder watch face that you have? I have the Ultra 1 and can’t find out to get the new way finder face they have been spotlighting for the ultra 2. Please and thank you!!
WatchOS 10 Beta. Official watchOS 10 will be out very soon. Probably in less than 12 hours from the time of this comment I suspect but it should definitely be out before Friday when the new devices released.
I have a series 9 watch and I have double tap. Half of the time it does nothing at all and I’m not sure what I can do. I am turned it off and I’m using Assistance as he showed but I think I need someone to show me each individual move, so I can write it down and remember it. The convenience of using just one hand is really cool, but I feel like I have a long way to go before I master it.
That's why I like this control on the Series 9 and Ultra 2, because you don't have to specifically activate it in AssistiveTouch Settings and customize it. That's why I didn't use it, but I will be using it in my future Ultra 2.
" hand gesture : to answer incoming calls? I see you have a double pinch set up.... on the iphone menu did you set up "tap" or other feature to answer calls?
Awesome video btw... But I'm buying Apple Vision Pro what happens when using PINCH to zoom or scroll while wearing my DOUBLE-TAP Apple watch 9 or ultra... Much love from UK
Nobody seems to explain why in a correctly configured Wallet, Wallet won't confirm payment with two clicks and doesn't seem to work with double touch. I tried to use it to make a payment from my computer , Wallet appeared in the Watch, requested but would not respond to a double clic.
Will the WatchOS upgrade allow us to use the new double tap function without Assistive Touch? Why wouldn't it? Can we hope for a hack? Assistive touch is not ideal.
By the way using two hands to hold something still cannot do gestures at all . Not sure about that 😂😂 I prefer Siri and respond to do calls rather than gestures! Sometimes don’t mean to do gestures!!!! I don’t care for too much
Could you make video where you will check silicone cases on every color of iPhone 15 pro? I'm courios how it looks in natural light. Thanks! @AppleInsider
In typical use, double tap is forward, one tap is back, clench is “tap”, and then a double clench opens the “action menu” where you can scroll, invoke the side button, use Apple Pay, etc.
@@AppleInsider apologies I meant the previous menu, I didn’t explain properly! Say for example if your in the settings menu you can click on a menu item but can you go back to the previous menu?
@@michaelthompson657 it isn't smooth, but yes. You can control every function of the watch with this. If the way to go back is to tap the back button on the screen, you'd essentially do a tap and select the back arrow as the subject youre tapping on.
Let me quote from video above... "What's the difference between Double Tap and AssistiveTouch/Quick Actions. Honestly, right now it is a little murky. The biggest changes is that AssistiveTouch is a very robust, system-wide feature that lets you use everything including the Digital Crown, menus, scrolling for those who need these accessibility features. Double Tap is a streamlined, simplified version that only allows you to interact with the primary button in an application. Answer a call, control music playback, snap a photo, whatever it is that that primary functionality would do is what Double Tap will replicate. It's very similar in functionality but its much more verbose with AssistiveTouch. Double Tap may also be faster on the new version of Apple Watch thanks to the S9 SiP" There's more, but that is very much addressed in the video
Might test it again on my Apple Watch 6. Thing is I use my watch for sleep tracking and then charge it at breakfast period the next morning. This feature being on seems to use much more power during the day. So for now have turned it off. Thing is the one thing I might have used it for I can now do with a double tap of the side button is Apple Pay.
I turned this feature on using my ultra first gen and it made the experience so much worse. Unless the experience is much better on the ultra 2 it is NOT a selling point
Does this have any effect on battery life?
did you find out ,pls share

On my S5 it works perfectly
I noticed on your video, it works fine. Please let me know. Maybe a software upgrade will allow this action to happen?
I've tried this for a few weeks, and it's really not as smooth as in the Apple commercials. Wonder if it's any better with Watch series 9
The S9 thing is just marketing nonsense
I also noticed it impacts the battery significantly on Gen 1

They have yet to get the Ultra 2 and if I am right the software will not be available on launch of the new devices.
I like the middle finger gesture to deny incoming calls.
Of note, you don't have to turn on assistive touch to get the quick actions. Quick Actions above it works for notifications, calls, etc
Awesome, this is very helpful and never knew that!
Neat, thanks!
Thanks for sharing this. Didn’t know up until now.
What do you mean can you please explain a little more

So apart from the 3000 nit brightness, Siri on chip and faster chip….. upgrading to the ultra 2 is not really worth it…?
upgrading from ULTRA 1 is not worth it but if you're from series 6 or older, its worth it

What face is Andrew using?
Is it something that’s coming on a future watch os update?
It's called Modular Ultra. New face on the Ultra watches, that they debuted in the WWDC release.
