If either Melissa or Diana G go for the top competitions, their paths will eventually cross Svetlana Kapanina's, probably in Europe. What a battle in the sky that'll be too: a pair of twenty somethings vs the early 40's Svetlana who has 7 world champion wins under her belt.
I have loved Svetlana for over a decade and she truly is a phenomenon- just watch her videos; she rarely seems to be stressed by the G forces she is putting herself through.

For a fee you get to watch the aerobatics, the airplanes, the pilots, etc. Local modellers are invited and show their models. Ultralight pilots, paragliders, whatever is available in the area. Its like a circus, but "open air". Ive only been in one and it was great. Children love it too. Its good.

I had the honour of beholding this brilliant girl in action in an air-show close to my hometown (in Spain) last weekend, and I was amazed at how well she did perform (even more taking into account her young age); at the level of the best (male) pilots in the world. Besides her, in that air-show I also had the chance of admiring another ace from the world of aerobatics: Ramon Alonso (aerobatics world champion in 2007).

Melissa don`t let the haters get under your skin. You wouldn`t be where your at without a lot of hard work. The folks here talking about $ should be ashamed, It takes a lot of Moxey to fly the way Melissa does and that should be respected. No one should be ashamed of themselves if they come from wealth or lessor means. What matters most is that they make something of themself. Svetlana is probably the best aerobatic pilot of all times. She was world champion at 22yrs.old. and has won the title many times. Our own crowd pleaser Patty Wagstaff has been the national champ and a test pilot, airline pilot, flew slurry bombers on the big fires in CA. I have seen many pilots over the years doing the same routine. Even a few gymnast and divers. It now only takes guts but brains to fly like that. Look forward to seeing you at the world championships someday Melissa.

why don't these planes have retractable gear?
....seems it would make for smoother flying and more control...
retracts add weight. these airplanes are only about 1800lbs and the mechanism and hydraulics for retracts would spoil the performance. think of these as race cars of the sky. stripped down for best performance
